Hi people,

This is my entry from the most recent Remixing With the Stars. It's a remix of Costa Del Sol from FF7. And of course thank you KingTiger for your feedback during the competition!

Let me know what you think! All feedback is welcome!

I have a new version up. Looking for more feedback before a Mod Review at some point.

I feel like the wave sfx and the wurlitzer are too center-panned, so everything feels cluttered especially at 1:44. Recommended to be wider. Waves could also have a little more reverb, and be more behind, if you know how to move it to the back.

1:15 could have a reverse cymbal. Cymbal is dry-ish. 1:23 has no transition into a pseudo-DnB section.

Some more things:

For some reason at 0:05 the waves sound really high passed. If they are, I'd suggest you not start high passing until 0:18 since it isn't necessary until then. The synth lead sounds about 1~3dB too loud, and the wurlitzer is about 0.4~1.2dB too loud. The 1:01 lead volume is fine as it is.

1:15 reverse cymbal doesn't line up with the cymbal, and for some reason the reverse cymbal is panned left, while the cymbal is panned center. 2:12 has the same issue. I feel like the shift into 1:24 comes too quickly. It would be smoother with either a reverse added or gradual percussive layering (in terms of both strength and volume).

1:52 lower lead feels buried. The arp-y lead is about 0.6~1.2dB too loud. 2:34 sounds like an ending without a connecting transitional sound. 3:51 piano sounds too quiet and dry, and the rest of the track feels like it drags on to the end with just the wave and helicopter sfx.

Getting there.

Thanks again man.

The waves aren't high passed, but I hear what you're talking about. It must be the sample I'm using, I'll try to adjust that.

I agree with all the loudness issues that you pointed out, quick fix.

As for the reverse cymbal, the sample itself has both the reverse and then the regular cymbal. The panning is also the sample itself, I'll just change it.

Yeah, I'm still working on transitions in all of my music, I still struggle with those.

I agree that the lower lead is buried at 1:52, that section has been a pain in the ass for me. I just can't seem to get it right, just got to keep experimenting. I hear the piano issue at 3:51, definitely will fix that. In fact, I think the whole ending needs work, it feels clunky to me.

By the way, the sfx at the start and end is actually supposed to be a jet ski, but yeah, it sounds more like a helicopter. I was going for a beach vacation sort of feel.

Thanks again for the feedback, always appreciated.
