The Legendary Zoltan Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I mean a regular performance by any random band at MAGfest. For example, how long was the performance of Knights of the Round or OC University? Also, is there a range of possible times that you can play or is there a set standard? Thank you very much! Quote
OceansAndrew Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Overclocked University was 50 min, I think the main headliners get more, like an hour and a half. Quote
jmr Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Sets generally range from 30 minutes to an hour, with headlining bands (ie Machinae Supremacy @ MAGFest 12) getting longer. Source: I've helped stream and/or record pretty much every MAGFest concert since MAGFest 9. Quote
The Legendary Zoltan Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Thanks, guys. That's a pretty strong source you've got there JMR. So what you're telling me is that if I have 30 minutes of performance, I can play at MAGfest. Is that what you're telling me? Quote
jmr Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 There's a little more to it than that. To officially play at MAGFest you have to apply. The MAGFest music department selects the bands that play. Source: I'm playing at MAGFest this year. That being said there's nothing stopping a band / musician from playing an unofficial set in the jamspace / hallway / chipspace / wherever so long as you're reasonable about it. One of my favorite moments at MAGFest 8.5 was seeing DrumUltimA and a few other musicians playing soft vgm covers in the waiting area next to the elevators. Quote

I like where this is headed, but if I could get to California I'd like it so much more. Quote
