you guys completely lost me. i have no idea what is going on.

all i know is when you bend a string in either direction, up or down perpendicular to the fretboard, the pitch increases.

Or, if you move from the front of the fret (towards the bridge), to the back (towards the nut). It's a much more restrictive pitch variation doing it laterally, but nevertheless, it's vibrato.

And in regards to the tremolo, just listen to mandolins, they commonly use they rapidly plucking version.
