Similar to how you have it at 1:28 and after. It will help give space to the other parts, and sounds much better. I'm not sure what it is, but the beat isn't gelling with me for some reason and i'm not sure why. Consider adding a hi-hat to it to help fill the space maybe? Changing the lead sound at 0:23 is a good call. Switching up the lead to other instruments is a good way to keep the listener interested.
