Synth
I'm a getar player, and I suck. I know you guys can't tell me how to write, but any tips would help greatly. Heres on of my improvs(excuse the shitty playing for now). Its in the key of G, using the G major scale. http://www.geocities.com/synth2036/09k.mp3
Chavous
Don't force it. This was one thing I noticed early on. When you think about what you want to play, it comes out OK. When you just let it flow you can be VERY surprised at what comes out. Another thing is...if you are giong to solo, pick an effect where people can hear what the hell you're playing. That was mostly just a mess of sound because of that powerful delay. Edit: ACtually, it's not that bad. just keep working on it.
SnappleMan
You can make quintillions if you learn the pentatonic scales.
Razgriz
Pentatonic scales help a lot, yeah. Also, if you're playing over a rhythm (as you are here) it sometimes helps if you listen to the parts you play well, then just repeat them. Keep in mind that holding one note significantly longer than you normally would can sometimes trigger new motifs. Finally, borrow pieces from the vocals and basslines. It can reinforce the melody and buy you some time to come up with a few new patterns.
