Zephyr
Hey guys, I'm just wondering, is there any free software out there for download that will allow me to record all the sounds that are coming through my speakers, I want to capture some sound that I don't think I can download. Any software like that or similar to that? Thanks.

jmr
Hey guys, I'm just wondering, is there any free software out there for download that will allow me to record all the sounds that are coming through my speakers Not all sound cards can do that. I know that the sound device in my laptop can't. To check, open up the windows volume control (I'm assuming you are using a PC), and click options, properties. Select the recording option, and in the "show the following volume controls:" section, look for "stereo out", "wave out", "what you hear", or something like that. If it's not there, you're probably out of luck.
Zephyr
Does audacity work? All I want to do is capture some music that plays in a media player, say for example there's a song used in a youtube video that I want, could I record it? That's just and example, could audacity do it? Or is there any other way to do it? I checked my volume settings, but couldn't find what jmr was talking about. Mia
Try plugging a cord from your audio out, into your audio in. I use an M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard.. and a mixer.. so it's easy to record any sound my computer makes. The recording software isn't the issue... your audio routing is.
