Opinions on [yet another] Doom WIP

This has some potential, but it suffers a bit from too much sameness; It is basically 1 section that builds up and breaks down, more like a theme and variations.

You do mix up the accompaniment quite a bit, but it's always based around the same kindof droning section, and it starts to drag.

Percussion is a mixed bag. There's some great stuff, like the ninja loops, but there is some stuff that is a good idea that is overused (the opening snare pattern needs to be changed up way sooner), or just a bad idea (the the repeated cymbal hits should be a china or a darker cymbal; the bright crash is not cutting it at all.)

Overall the attention paid to velocities and panning is pretty good, and all the different sections show you have the chops to pull off a cool arrangement, but you really need a B section that mixes up the chords a bit. Having the whole song hang on a single droning note is going to be boring no matter how cool the surrounding parts are.

OA gives some good criticism, but I just wanted to add a few things:

Drums at the start sound a little dry to me. They need to sit back in the mix a bit more rather than being so exposed. Things get really muddy at 1:01 with everything coming in, and continue to get worse as more things come in.

I can hear a lot of distortion on the cymbals and the backing pads. Might want to try EQing out the low end on the cymbals, but up the high end a bit more so they cut through more like what OA said (or use a different sample). You can clean this up by bringing some of the volume levels under control and EQing out frequencies that the parts don't need to occupy.

Things get messy again as soon as those cymbals come in and things build up again later. Same advice as before.

On the plus side, there are some cool, dark sounds going on here. Drum work at the end is nicely done, though it gets buried as soon as more things come in. Keep working on this one, it has a lot of potential.
