Lunahorum Posted August 24, 2007 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Does anyone know any good resources for singing/growling without shredding your voice to bits if that's even possible. I tried google for a few minutes, but all I found was some instructions to do jumping jacks while growling three sets of ten and that's all it said. I found some pretty good online singing lessons (not growling though). The guy seems to know exactly what he's talking about and can actually sing very well so I am going to do his lessons until I find some death metal stuff. Legion303 Posted August 25, 2007 Share Posted August 25, 2007 Growl from your diaphragm, not from your throat. An exercise I picked up is this: make a quiet hissing sound with your tongue on the roof of your mouth (i.e., an "S" sound) and as you exhale, gradually increase the volume until you're giving it as much pressure as possible. That comes from the diaphragm, and that's the feel you want when growling death metal vox.
