Skummel Maske
I've arranged a song in midi-format and imported it to Cubase for overdubbing and mixing. The basic midi bass and drum sounds are rather dull, so I've decided to use VST instruments for those. However, when I enable them, those tracks lag behind the rest. The VST Audiobay shows a total output latency of 13,5ms. That shouldn't be enough to notice, should it? Any suggestions on what to do? ..oh, and my soundcard is a PreSonus Inspire 1394, if anyone knows it.
dannthr
You might want to try increasing latency a bit, see if that lets the instruments catch up. But, I'm not a cubase user, so...

Also, keep in mind some VSTs are very poorly coded and thus have extraneous latency (like every Spectrasonics VST ever).
zircon
Stylus RMX - and presumably any new Spectra VST after that - works fine, no latency. 13.5ms is also a HUGE delay when it comes to timing w/ other tracks. If the kick track is off 13.5ms it will sound really bad if the bass track *isn't* delayed that same amount, for example.
Skummel Maske
Yeah, I had my ASIO drivers selected. First thing in the morning, I'll try to look up any updated drivers. I got around the problem by moving all the recorded tracks to fit the lag, and it seems to work alright. Are those suggested VSTs free?
