Shadow Wolf
I know Nekocon is mostly an anime convention, but there's all kinds of games there too. So is there a reason from on high that OC Remix has never had reppazentin' at Nekocon? It's the biggest anime convention on the east coast, 45 minutes from my house. zircon
Nekocon isn't anywhere close to the biggest convention on the East Coast... based on the numbers I'm seeing (2368 in 2004) it's barely 1/10 the size of Otakon. In general we have to pick and choose what events we'll be going to. Geographic location is of course important, but size is a major factor. Will it be worth our time if we're only going to have 50-60 people at our panel?
Shadow Wolf
Oh schnap, I got told. Sorry, I was going off info someone else gave me. I don't really care for anime and I know almost nothing about it. The only reason I would darken the doorstep of Nekocon was if OCR WAS there. Oh well. djpretzel
Well, we're trying to go to larger cons AND smaller-midsize cons as well - as long as we don't LOSE money, spreading the good word and refining our panel and getting to meet fans and mixers etc. is always worthwhile, even with 12 people at our panel. Hampton Roads is a bit out of the way; Larry and I are in Northern Virginia, but that's quite a trek. Carlson from Mad-Gear has been gracious enough to haul us around once, so there's a chance we can do more cons if he's available, and Michael (Piano Squall) has been contacting his various connections at cons to see if we can start attaining guest status to some extent, which might offset the cost. It's too late for this year, but we've still got Anime USA. As far as next year goes, we're gonna try to be more aggressive, but often "real life" issues restrain us.
