  1. http://dew-owns-it.com/oops/Dew%20-%20Prideflayer.mp3 Something I've been working on recently. It's intended to be a boss theme for a fast-paced top-down manic shooter, so it's about 1:45 long and loops once.
  2. Hey guys, many thanks for the criticism. I'll definitely take another look at the ending and see if I can't do something to fill in the low-mid range.
  3. There is a bass, but I toned down the lower frequencies because it was completely overpowering when I listened to it through anything but my headphones. I'm actually rather confused, as I was under the impression that I was going completely overboard on the low end, particularly with the bass and kick drum. What frequency ranges should I be looking at?
  4. Gave it a couple of days, just swapped it to Mod Review, hoping for any additional input or suggestions. I'm thinking about submitting and would like to know if there's anything I could still improve before I do so, although the majority of feedback I've received here and elsewhere has been positive.
  5. Thanks for the input, Coop. After some further listening, I definitely agree with you on the later timestamps, and gave a little bit more attention to the cymbals in some other sections, as well as boosting the mics on my cymbal channel a bit. The first two timestamps, however, I intentionally went with a double tap on the snare in lieu of a cymbal crash. It may be just my preference, but I feel it suits the introductory part of the song better. The link in the OP has been updated.
  6. Thanks for the encouragement, guys. After listening to it in my car a few times, it seemed that the bass and one of the guitars were a little loud and really saturated in some lower frequencies. It was making it a bit painful to really crank it, so I changed the EQ on them a bit and adjusted some volumes on the percussion and lead. The file has been updated accordingly. Criticism is still appreciated, always looking to improve.
  7. Remix I've always been rather disappointed in the amount of Thunder Force remix material out there, and I've been wanting to tackle this for quite some time, so I went ahead and remixed the TF4 intro, Lightning Strikes Again. My greatest difficulty here was stretching a mere 30 seconds of material out into a song of respectable length, and I did my best to keep it fresh without deviating too far from the source, although I kinda go for a ride during the second half of the song. Although this version is more or less a complete song, I've tagged it as a WIP, since I still feel that there's a lot more that could be done with it. I also somehow managed to resist granting it the title Lightening Striker... feedback is much appreciated.
  8. I see, that's unfortunate. Oh well, since I almost always use them anyway, your suggestion of a template may be my best option.
  9. Just curious if anyone knows a way to save/load multiple mixer inserts. I've got a setup for my Shreddage channel that has one insert send to two inserts (one with Guitar Rig 4 and the other with FL Hardcore) which both send to a fourth insert with my EQ and a stereo shaper. I use it quite frequently, but having to load all four inserts and route the sends every time I want to add them to a project gets tiring. Isn't there a way to just import them all at once with the sends already set up?
  10. I've actually been wondering how I should be mastering my drums for quite some time now. Currently I've got one drum channel with all the normal DFH mics enabled, and a second channel for the toms with all the mics disabled except the tom mics. I've got a Parametric EQ on the toms pumping everything like... 2000hz and higher. From that point I really have no idea how compressors work so I just experimented with a mishmash of presets. I believe the drums channel has a Maximus with the Master Aid preset and the toms have a combination of some Maximus and Multiband Compressor presets. I was looking around on the internet trying to find a guide or anything with tips on how to master percussion, but I wasn't able to find anything that seemed reliable or relevant to the tools I'm using. Would it be more advantageous to go through the effort of separating the kicks/snares/hats out into separate channels and EQing them individually? Or is there something simpler that I'm missing?
  11. Thanks for the feedback, good to hear that all the time I've spent in FL has paid off. I had a good feeling that I'd finally nailed something with this one, but I find it terribly hard to accurately judge the quality of my own music, so I was unsure. As a side note, I wouldn't give me too much credit for the way the guitar sounds. That's all Shreddage, just run through a couple of amp presets. It really is an amazing tool.
  12. http://dew-owns-it.com/oops/Dew%20-%20Feral%20Fatale.mp3 This track was composed in FL Studio using Shreddage run through FL Hardcore/Guitar Rig 4, EWQL Colossus/Stormdrum, an EWQL Ministry of Rock bass, and Drumkit From Hell. It's intended to be a theme song for some sort of badass beastly female character. I've been writing music in FL Studio for approximately a year, but I don't really have any formal experience or musical training. It's just been sort of a hobby. In truth, I've been visiting OCR since 2004, and eventually I'd like to become good enough to create worthwhile remixes of my own, although I don't really have much by which to measure my own level of musical aptitude. In any case, feedback would be much appreciated, in regards to both composition and sound/mastering.
  13. Aha. That works beautifully, thanks so much. :0
  14. I've been using Colossus for a while but never knew this was possible. I also have no idea how to utilize a MIDI Out channel. How does one do this? I'm fuddling around with it and can't seem to figure out how for the life of me.
  15. I enjoyed the single-player arena, and I think the hardest AI I could beat the game without continuing against was the third hardest, whatever that was. One or two notches above "Hard". I'll grant you that the AI is much more challenging than it was in SC2, mainly because it seems that the harder the AI gets, the more it becomes luck of the dice whether or not the computer will instantly read your button inputs and GI or counter with a quicker move. Thus, the only way to beat harder AI's effectively is to read situations and do absolutely nothing but defend and counterattack. Plus it becomes nigh-impossible to throw the opponent because it will tech out of your throws 99.99% of the time, so you can't cheese out the AI that way, either. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing though, I like having a difficulty that I can always play knowing I'll have a challenge, unlike SC2, the Guilty Gear games, or MvC2, where I can generally pick up the game after not playing for months and still run straight through the game on the hardest difficulty without a single loss. Chronicles of the Sword was a steaming pile of dung, however. ... but seriously, who buys a fighting game for the single player, anyway?
  16. I used to play Thunder Force IV while listenting to the Hamsterdance Dance Remix on repeat. Beat that.
  17. I just recently began experiencing an issue on my primary machine where any time I try to open a folder, regardless of method (I've tried doubleclicking, rightclick-open, going up a level from an inside folder, exploring), the folder will open for a split second, then immediately return to the folder I came from. The same thing is happening with my Firefox. My home page will open, but whenever I try to visit another page, it automatically reverts to the homepage. Internet Explorer has ceased functioning entirely. I'm rather boggled with what might be causing this, as the only change I've made to the machine recently was a new video card. Unless something malicious that's been dormant in my machine decided to wake up all of a sudden, I can't think of where I might have acquired this problem from. Whatever it is, it's totally disabled my ability to do anything with the machine outside of running programs from the start menu or desktop. Anyone got any clues as to what the hell this is?
  18. Xenogears and a Jared Hudson ReMix I found on WinMX.
  19. This evening I was doing some gaming and my computer locked up and I got a bunch of multicolored stripes across my screen. I tried a hard reboot and it gave me the same garbage at the post screen, so I took out my vid card and cleaned all the dust out of it and put it back in, but it's still giving me the same garbage. Sometimes when I reboot it'll start up but with all those stripes, and sometimes I won't get anything but a blank screen. I let it sit for a couple hours and tried again, and it seemed to work fine until I tried using a 3D application, then it gave me the same problem once again. I'm assuming the problem is that my video card is overheating, but I can't imagine why. My drivers are up to date, I cleaned all the dust off the heat sink, and the fan appears to be working correctly. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening? The card is an NVidia 6800-GT that I got back when they were brand new, so the card itself is about 2 1/2 years old, and I've been using it heavily. Is it possible that it's just getting old and wearing out?
  20. This sums it up pretty well. The release date, from my understanding, was supposed to be six months later than it ended up being. I had originally heard that it wasn't going to be out until July or August. For whatever reason though, it ended up sailing at the beginning of the year, and it sank miserably. It's an incredible shame, since the game appeared to have so much potential, it just needed polishing and refinement. Supposedly Brad McQuaid is shooting for a "re-release" of sorts, but I'm not sure how that's going to work out, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  21. FYI, Stage 5 is the fucking win good sir, and not just because of the kickin' soundtrack.
  22. Alucard: Anderson: Seras: Integra: Jan & Luke Valentine: EDIT: Dammit, Douli. LT: The first and the fourth Alucards are good. The rest of the faces are all rather meh, not to dump on the effort here. Beyond the faces not really looking cool, a lot of these were too soft, too light, too dark. But thanks for these two other Alucards. That's enough of that guy.
  23. No. Not at all. That's plenty. I love you.
