To be fair, the Engineer and Medic are limited in terms of attack-type weapons by the inherent nature of their classes...if the Medic is at the front lines, he should ideally be healing someone else, and unless the Engy is going all battle-mode with the Gunslinger, he's generally preoccupied with building stuff. The new Medigun should provide an interesting new dynamic, and I do hope that the Engy gets at least some love, maybe in the form of a weapon that enables a brand-new building variant.

    Yeah, I was thinking that too...though I just traded two Refined for a hat, so I guess I screwed the pooch there too. :P Anyway, we aren't guaranteed to get unique recipes for all of the new items right away, and most people will probably be willing to trade duplicate copies once everything starts dropping.

  3. Yeah, I was warning everyone who was listening to hold on to one of each weapon because the only other time Valve has done double drop rate is when there are a lot of things required for crafting.

    Specifically, they did double drop rate during the Golden Wrench thing.

    I did save quite a bit, but I finally crafted some of it into metal the other night, since I was in the middle of rearranging my backpack, and things were getting cluttered. Silly me, I saved all the Medic stuff because I thought that's all we'd be getting. :D

  4. Hey, so it is. I saw the boxed copy for $10 in Best Buy, but I didn't realize it was at that price point on Steam too. I have one or two people I might be able to convince to buy it if it's that cheap.

    It's been a good week for hats here. I decided to give that Spiral Knights game a try, and I fooled around in it long enough to get the promo hat...it's decently fun, but I can't see myself sinking dozens of hours to it. I also found a Sergeant's Drill Hat on a trade server for two Refined, so now I have entirely too many good hats for my Soldier. I should probably try looking for stuff for the three or four classes that I don't have a class-specific hat for yet.

After finally playing Chrono Trigger a couple of years ago, I'm sort of surprised that Schala's Theme has become the remixing stand-by that it has, since it really didn't feature all that much in the original game. The tracks "Corridors of Time" and "Undersea Palace" were much more prominent in that part of the game, so I would have thought they'd see higher numbers instead. I am glad the original track exists, though, since it means we get awesome remixes like this one. :)

    Or two Medics that can build up an Uber and take in a competent Heavy/Demo to clear out the final defense. That last point goes really fast once everyone has been killed off or pushed back. And having a good Engy/Pyro means that you should be able to set up and hold a forward base in the alley before the final point.

    Now this is just flat-out wrong...I can't count how many times my team hasn't even been able to finish the first stage. So long as you cover the Engies from long-range rocket barrage, that last point there is brutal to capture, since you're basically exposed the whole way to the finish. The second point on the second stage can get brutal too if the defense knows what it's doing, and the final final point tends to get bottlenecked in that alley leading to the final open area.
