  1. Over 700 listens so far. Thank you for the support!
  2. A Magus' theme techno mix by Daknit, Bard of Tarot. Don't think it was an official OCR release, but it had OCRemix in the metadeta. Found it on Kazaa I think? oh man p2p...I almost forgot. Meta data says: Album: Best of Overclocked Remix 2k1 Comments: remix.overclocked.org
  3. Hello production forum gurus! So I'm going to be getting a major upgrade soon in terms of studio space and I want to do some acoustic treatment for both mixing and recording purposes. I've read quite a bit on building bass traps and think I will eventually build some soon. Does anyone have any cost effective methods for acoustic treatment that they've had luck with?
  4. Post in the Collaborate forums and find some musicians who are willing to record some tracks for you.
  5. I'm looking into some different monitors currently. I've been using wharfdales, but they are too coloured, not "reference" monitors. The yamahas I hear good things about, but they are designed after the famous NS-10's, which from what I've read have never made great main monitors, only for checking for translation. I'm looking at Mackie, KRK, JBL...a whole bunch of different kinds. Currently my nice pair of speakers are my JBL L112s. They arent "Reference monitors" but they are very transparent, and make a good second set for checking mixes.
  6. EST is one of my favorite groups of all time! It's such a shame that Esbjorn died at such a young age.
  7. Look no farther than the father... Antonio Carlos Jobim
  8. We would always welcome arrangements if you decide to make something!

  9. If you aren't Horny by the end of this thread, we aren't being convincing enough.
  10. Haha, classic clip. Free form jazz has always been a bit of a debated topic. I think you really need to be a jazz musician or at least a musician to appreciate it. Free form jazz is really the "scholarly" genre of jazz. It is much less of a performance as much as it is a presentation on quantum-physics. It's the jazz equivalent to Schoenberg and Webern. Not the greatest to listen to for the average listener, but if you deeply understand the music, it can be a fun experience. That being said, regular jazz that has moments or segments of free form jazz can be very enjoyable.
  11. While this thread is alive, I'll use it as another place to push OCRemix's newest group! https://soundcloud.com/wiesty/the-guru-the-oc-jazz-collective What do you think of horns now?!
  12. I think that is over generalizing things. Sure, every instrument has it's own traits which may be considered harsh or annoying, but only "cliche" players will exploit these cliches to a maximum. The best players know when to be melodic and when to turn it up a notch. It's all about what emotion they want to convey.
  13. Nice work Doug! Is that one of those Adams vibes? Frame looks pretty solid.
  14. Gmixer...let's talk soon... Did you see my post on pg1? One of Mehldau's newest projects I'm seeing him twice this summer, once with Mehliana. I saw him twice 3 years ago as well. So amazing.
  15. That's a great recording with Peter Erskine on drums....if you like Jaco make sure to check out Pat Metheney's first album Bright Size Life. Jaco plays bass on that and I think it's some of his finest playing in his relitivley short career.
  16. Bill Evans is the man! My favourite musician regardless of genre or instrument. No one puts as much emotion into their playing as he does.
  17. I've taken (half finished) that a couple of times. Gary Burton is the bomb!
  18. Oh man! That Electrik Band video is hilarious. Such a tight group though. You should check out their Akoustik Band as well. Anyone into electronica and DnB should check out Mehliana, a live electronica/jazz duet featuring Brad Mehldau (who I happen to think is the finest jazz pianist on the planet) and Mark Guiliana. So tight!
  19. Al DiMeola is a really good player. He was the original guitarist for Return to Forever who put out gems such as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epAQmSNYev4 Recently I've really been digging this Coltrane tune from A Love Supreme. http://youtu.be/ITwMfcZpNWc Played by Branford Marsalis here
  20. I'm bored! Can we get a jazz/funk/r&b/etc. appreciation thread? Post your favorite artists/music/youtube videos!
