  1. lol fiery penis of doom ftw

  2. I guess, in my situation, I feel like it's a casual game, and more generally that I'm a casual gamer, because of my living situation. I'm a girl living in a house with 3 guys, so I already feel like a bit of an outsider, and it doesn't help when they're playing MW2 online with their friends while I'm playing Pokemon and other kid-ish games. But the thing is, my favorite games are ones that aren't realistic. I like cartoony games, cute games, puzzle games, stuff like that. I think I like the nostalgia of playing games that remind me of the stuff I liked when I was a kid. I realize I'm still a gamer, but there's so many different types that it makes it seem like I still don't properly fit in with the people I know.
  3. The most addictive games to me are Picross DS and Picross 3D. I've completed all the puzzles in both of them and I've started over. I can easily sink hours into them without thinking about it. Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee also. And all of my favorite games are usually on portable systems, cause I like to watch TV while I play, so a lot of the games I play are ones that I only need half of my attention for. Oh and I've recently been playing Pokemon Soul Silver, mainly cause Pokemon games kinda lend themselves to multitasking while playing.
  4. I was thinking about this yesterday, as I was playin Tekken 6. I haven't playded it in a while, and I got to one of the later stages and just kept getting my ass kicked over and over again, and it was so frustrating that I got to the point at which I had to turn off the game before I threw the controller. I then picked up my ds and started playing Picross 3d. It was such swift mood change, and it made me realize that casual games are awesome sometimes. I still feel they have a stigma against them, and are still not considered "real" games, and people who play them seem less respected than "real" gamers. I love casual games though, especially when I get homefrom work, cause the last thing I'd want when I get home from a long day is for a game to stress me out. Being stressed isn't very fun for me, and the whole purpose of games is to have fun. What do you think? Are casual games any less respectable than other genres? Do you think there's still some prejudice against people who play casual games?
  5. Hi again! It's me (illusen) under a new name. I know my updates are few and far between, but I finally have enough free time to get some good work done. I've updated my WIP a little, but there's still no drum track, cause I have yet to come up with anything. I also upped the tempo and sped it up a little about halfway thru. The mix now includes: new machine from ecco: tides of time (game gear) @ 0:00 dark realm from ecco: tides of time (genesis) @ 1:20 epilogue from ecco: defender of the future @ 3:25 Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated! Here's the mp3 link: http://rapidshare.com/files/367391009/Undertow_24.0.mp3 And if anyone wants to take a stab at the drum track or whatever, here's the flp: http://rapidshare.com/files/367391008/Undertow_24.flp
  6. I generally make an attempt at my dream remixes, but I'm just not that skilled yet for them to turn out how I envision
  7. Idk, oot2d has always been one of those things that I've heard of but not followed. I'll definitely check that link out (no pun intended)
  8. Its games like this that really solidify in my mind how the ps3 is better than the 360
  9. to me, sex of a character really doesn't matter too much. I just like someone who is well characterized, good backstory and personality and the like
  10. Whatever happened to that project?
  11. Hi! I'm wildfire (aka illusen), and I'm sorta new. I've been registered forever, and I've posted a bit on the wip forum, but that's about it. I've been working on the same mix on and off for a few years and hopefully I'll find the motivation soon to finish it. Thought it was about time to properly introduce myself and start participating more in the forums. A little about me: I just graduated college (bs in mathematics) in Michigan and am now working as a programmer in an insurance company. Hopefully I'll be upgrading my computer soonish so I can coninue mixing Nice to finally be part of the site!
  12. Can you merge my account with my old one? I created a new one before I remembered I could change the name of the old one. Http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u11659 Thanks a ton! If the link doesn't work, the screenname is illusen.
  13. Definitely the golden sun series
  14. fixed the volume problem, added some changes, still quite a rough draft though, but enjoy! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/ico-beginning5.mp3
  15. New edition today! I removed the distortion on the main piano, and added some new instruments/sections. I know theres a lot of distortion on some notes just because they're too loud, especially in the bells, but I'll fix that later, I don't want to spend the time right now to re-render it again. The drum is still a FL Studio preset, I'll work on that later too. Like before, comments and suggestions are welcome! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/ico-beginning4.mp3
  16. I've started a new project dealing with two melodies from Ico (ps2). I know I have a long way to go. I'm working with mostly just ideas so far, and I have a (very) rough draft right now. The drum loop definitely needs to go at some point, but for right now I stuck it in there cause its the mood/feel I'm going for. I'm trying to keep things simpler here, cause my last attempt at a mix is winding up getting too complicated, with too many instruments, so I'm only working with a few here: piano, distorted piano, and bells. Here's the mp3, please comment! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/ico-beginning2.mp3
  17. what kind of soundfonts do you have? i could really use a good drum font, although any kind is appreciated

  18. After a ridiculously long time not working on this wip, I started up again recently, after spending copious amounts of time listening to the Sega CD Ecco soundtracks (by Spencer Nilsen) and I want to incorporate some themes from these songs into mine. I like all the pieces I've put in, but I can't seem to blend them all together very well. I'd love to collab with someone using my materials, if there's anyone who's interested. Otherwise, feedback is great too! I have the source file (.flp) packaged with the mp3, feel free to do what you want with it, all I ask is that you don't claim it as 100% your own work. Thanks! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow22.rar
  19. the new link is here: http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow21.mp3 i forgot that i uploaded a newer version and deleted the older one, so i forgot to post the new link. happy listening!
  20. New version is now up! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow20.5.mp3 I added some bells to replace the piano I removed. Still trying to come up with some good drum beats so that will be the next thing I work on.
  21. New version time! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow19.5.mp3 I added a couple more solos to the middle and removed the middle piano melody. So now I think the composition is mostly done and so I'm going to focus on the drum track and mixing. I really want to create a strong drum track but I have no idea where to start. I really like intricate rhythms like in "Revival Day Impoetus", "HotStuff" and "ThisValleyRocks" and would love to create something along those lines.
  22. I uploaded a newer version. I took out the drum track and at some point I'll make a better one, but right now I'm focusing on the composition of all the other elements. Let me know what you think! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow19.mp3
  23. So after a whole summer of not working on this project, I picked it back up last night. My main focus right now is getting the arrangement all set, and then after that I'll mess more with the sound mixing. Any comments are greatly appreciated! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/Undertow19.mp3
  24. There's a new version up now, version 14.5. I think that I'm done with the composition and I'm going to mainly work on the sound overall (eq and stuff). Let me know what you think! I appreciate everyone who's helped so far, thanks guys! http://illusenmage.googlepages.com/home
  25. I have a new version done. not much in the way of drastic changes but it's been tweaked a little and some sounds changed. How do I know it's ready to submit? Is it hard to get your submission on the site? How much more work do I need to do to get it up to OCRemix standard?
