  1. Some Mario Kart Wii news from http://wii.ign.com/articles/849/849925p1.html:

With Smash Bros. at last out (in Japan, at least), Nintendo appears to have penciled in Mario Kart as its next big title. We're assuming that much, considering the unexpected blowout on the game in the latest issue of Famitsu.

The Wii installment of the cart racer that started it all looks like it's going to have lots of variety. Famitsu reveals a total of 32 courses, with 16 remakes of old courses, and 16 completely new courses. New courses include Mario Circuit, Momo Country, Kinopio Factory, DK Snowboard Cross, Coconuts Mall, Kinoko Canyon, and Luigi Circuit.

Some of these courses will put a new feature of the karts to use: mid-air tricks! Karts and bikes are both capable of performing actions and tricks in the air. Get a trick just right, and your cart will perform a dash upon landing.

In addition to a ton of content, Mario Kart Wii will have some serious multiplayer options. The game will include Wi-Fi based play for up to 12 players. You'll be able to select to play against players from throughout the world, players in your country, and players on your friend list.

As part of the new network mode, Nintendo will be making use of the Wii's Channel interface in yet another unique way. We're not sure of the specifics, but it seems that you'll be able to install a Mario Kart Channel to your Wii hub to view world rankings as well as your own records.

Going along with the Wi-Fi multiplayer play, Nintendo will be giving players a means of customizing the game. You'll be able to make your very own Mii ride a bike or kart, adding that bit of you to online races.

The online mode will also expand the single player fun. The game will offer downloadable ghost data, so you can play against some of the best players.

Not big on the whole internet thing? In addition to the Wi-Fi play, the game will also let players play together the old fashioned way: through split screen for up to four.

With this Famitsu blowout just hitting Japan, we expect the Nintendo marketing machine to start getting into gear and remind everyone why Mario Kart is so great. If, as a part of that initiative, we get a chance to sample the Wii installment in advance, you can be sure we'll let you know.

I'm not too thrilled about the mid-air tricks (SSX anyone?) but I'm happy to hear you'll be able to use your Mii to race.

  2. I'm so jealous of all of you playing right now. Anyway thanks for the rips Eulogic. The TetrisB music sounds awesome. I'm surprised that was in there. :P

I get the feeling this game will sell out on it's first day. I really should get around to pre-ordering it.

  3. truth is i thought it would be a little more...varied :-| most of those new guys are clones. and my anger comes from jonny 5 over there (rob) that is the silliest char i've ever seen (bad enough he was in mario cart ds) i think they're taking that idiot too far.

You realize he goes way back to 1984/1985 right? Though short-lived he became a very popular Nintendo figure. I'm actually glad to see him in there. Reminds me of my childhood. :D

  4. i REFUSE to believe the picture floating around is the true roster . when i saw it i was so dissapointed. i pray to god so hard that it's some cruel joke. but if it indeed does turn out to be true i might as well just stick with smash brothers melee, cause that would mean this game is nothing but hype :-?

Even if the roster is not something you like are you forgetting this game has a ton of modes that melee doesn't? Just that is a good enough reason to buy it and the online gaming is a plus as well. Anyway what don't you like about the roster? The ones in it or the ones that you wish were in it but aren't?

  5. 5: You cannot use created stages in the online mode.

    http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3165726

Wow... That is downright strange. So when me and my friends design wacky stages we must visit each other, and for everything else we can go online? But we can send them to nintendo? so there is no technical difficulty? Why the exclusion? Can anyone disprove or clarify this 1up statement?

WTF Nintendo and what's up with this:

"Pictures taken in game can be saved on an SD card, but are encrypted and, as of right now, can't be viewed on a PC. Same goes for replays."

    Why encrypt?

  6. The intro didn't really impress me and I think it was too long though I'm sure most would disagree. Anyway it's cool they're bringing back Melee characters especially Luigi because then it would not be Smash Bros but I'm not thrilled about clones.

  7. After you pet it you have to leave it alone for a moment, and a "GO!" icon appears on the bottom-right portion of the screen. Then you just have to flick the wiimote from side to side without pressing any buttons.

By the time I deciphered this from the sketchy instructions given in-game, I had issued about fifty commands to my stupid dolphin. I've never before wanted a harpoon so badly.

Cool thanks I got it to work. I also read the instruction booklet (something I hardly do anymore) and that helped as well. I guess we're so used to in-game instructions now we overlook the instruction manual at times. heh.

  8. hey megadave...I seem to be stuck trying to train my dolphin in Endless Ocean. As simple as the in-game instructions are I can't get him to GO. What are you supposed to do? It just says to touch his nose with A, then let go, then point in some other direction and press A and shake but all it does is keep petting him and I can't seem to dive again unless I train him. argh

On a different note I put Enya music in the game and it fits perfectly.

  9. For real. I like the soundtrack (the chick who sings it is hot too), but I do want to add some extra songs. Some of the mellower OCR remixes would be great, and I know that Amber by 311 (or half of their catalog) would be nice.

You mean Hayley Westenra? I wouldn't call her hot, she's more like BEAUTIFUL. The song is called Prayer and originally composed and performed by Secret Garden. It's such a nice song. Anyway the more I play this game the more I get into it. I like the little sense of humor in the dialogue as well. haha.

  10. Although I think you're going off the deep end a little bit, it still seems like a Belmont might be there.

Oh yeah, my verdict on Endless Ocean: It rules. Also, it helped me arrange a trip to camp on an island in the Gulf Coast too.

I started playing it last night and indeed it is a good game. It's unlike any other game I've played and it's just such a nice game to pick up and play when you're feeling all stressed or just want to chill out. I was thinking of using my own music for the game but the soundtrack already made for the game fits it perfectly. I've yet to dive online with a buddy though. :\ Anyway it's definitely a game worth getting and it's just $30.

  11. Has anybody picked up and played Endless Ocean yet? I just bought it today but haven't opened it because I'm still not sure whether I will truly like this game or not. The whole relaxed part about it is what intrigues me most but I'm hoping it will be rewarding as well. I'm wondering what people that have played it say about it even though most game review sites have given it a 7/10 or 8/10.

  12. Endless Ocean was released yesterday. Not sure if it's worth the buy but user reviews on gamespot averaged 9(scoring averaged 8.1).

After reading various reviews and the fact that it's only $30 I'm definitely going to be picking up Endless Ocean this weekend. Plus I could sure go for something nice and relaxing unlike most games out there where you just blast everything. It'll be a nice change for once.

Anybody wanna scuba dive with me when I get it?
