  1. Happy Birthday Zircon! Apparently it was your birthday and I did not know.

Congratulations, now no one can call you a teenager OR offer you a drink. Just a year of limbo... how low - can you go?

    Enjoy it. ... ... ... Errr... Keep... enjoy..ing... it.

    Yeah. That's right.

  2. I'm somewhat surprised myself. I've never seen four-way chess before, and I figure that maybe it might inspire the OCR Chess League to find a way to put that together. Still, you know how long the games would be?

By the way, we haven't heard from Jiggles or Meg yet.

Our game toook, what? Maybe three or four hours? But that's because we kept the game failry casual and Jose was kind enough to allow us to eat during his ::achem:: brief turns.

If other chess league were to start up four-way chess, they would probably incorporate the timer system (which I personally hate). Logically, with the same time limit, It would be maybe twice as long as a normal timed game (but who knows for sure?). Otherwise, there's all sorts of new things to affect them.

~Do they play a free-for-all game or teams?

~Do they play free-for-all but eliminate competition, as if on teams?

~How do they work the check mate? Either all peices under a taken King are removed from play, all the peices are unable to move but able to be taken, or the remaining peices are given to the taker of the King (expanding their forces).

    ~Other things I don't remember.

This game really does take a duel and turn it into a war. Dichotomies arise in strategy. "I'm Gold. Silver just put Black into checkmate and will take Black's King on the next turn. Unless I decide to take Silver's Queen on my turn. But if I take Silver's Queen, Black will escape because I can't take him with my Bishop." What's more valuble now? A King or a Queen?

Actually, the ability to sacrifice yourself to shorten or lengthen a game also makes cheating an issue.

...It's definately a fun game when played casually.

  3. It is official. I, and my girlfriend, WILL be there. From Noon until the end! No work at all!

As far as predicting rain, I've learned a neat yet accurate trick using the leaves of certain types of trees. If the points of the leaves are pointing up, it is, indeed, going to rain. Unfortunately, I don't know how many of these trees are in center city. (btw, I've seen it work on several occasions, I just don't know if its foolproof)

  4. AAAARRGGHH!!! I don't know if I'll make it. I need to convince my boss, but as of right now I work from 4-9:30... My girlfriend will show only if I do, it seems.

I can accomodate 2-3 people. If really needed I can manage 2 more on the floor, but I already have minimal blankets and pillows... Thus, At best I can accomodate 3 more people if someone brings sheets and/or pillows (I need to take inventory).

Faduger, I'm about to PM my address. The offer remains regardless of whether I show, but I will re-iterate that I kinda have to kick everyone out by 8:30 because I have work at nine. It's better than nothing.

  5. Alright, I'm definately coming, and my girlfriend (yeah, another person) is probable. I hope that doesn't cause problems... Anyway, I won't be done work until 4 o'clock, so mind if I give you (Zircon) a call for exact location when I'm done?

    Money: Check.

Housing (and room for two additional guests [girlfriend not staying the night]): Check.

    Transportation: Check

If I'm forgetting anything or causing problems, feel free to call/text my cell (a previous post).

  6. !!!

A meetup! In my town? Dude!

But it's on the week-end... I almost always work week-ends. I don't know, but I'm definately interested in coming. I live just off-campus from Temple and I work in the city, so I may show up for an couple hours (I either start or end at 3 on week-ends), and I may be able to offer up a room for maybe two people? I have plenty of room, but limited blankets/beds (but plenty of floor...).

Put me in for a maybe. Also, I suggest we grab gelatos for dessert at a store on ( I think) 13 and Samson street (between walnut and chesnut). It's just down the street from The convention center. Heck maybe you guys can visit me at subway (food) on wlanut street (11 & 12).

Enough rambling. I'm not even sure I can make it. However, even if I don't go, I may still be able to offer a roof for a night (at least until 8:30 AM). So feel free to contact me with any details at 215-630-1988. Jordan Goldberg.

Which side is the clothespin thingy? North, south, east, west?

    Edit: Also:

    a) I have a Wii-mote and nunchuck (or two?), and a classic controller if I'm there for the gaming.

    B) I wish my girlfriend would pick up the phone so I could tell her about this. She'll start to get involved on the forums here soon, but not just yet. btw, I know she has work essentially all day for this. She can't come.

    c) IMPORTANT: If anyone intends on taking me up on the offer for a bed, let me know asap. My phone receives texts, if that helps. This is so I may start planning the details... and cleaning up certain messes. Just let me know.

  7. I go out of my way making sure I don't spend extra money to buy things I already own, so I only have things that are essentially new games with one exception. Multiples are:

~SMB2 (Mario All-Stars and GBA, but the GBA was free, someone didn't want it or charge me)

~Zelda OoT - Original, Collector's, and Master Quest.

~Donkey Kong - Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong 64, and Donkey Kong GB (but that's an extended game anyway).

I beleive that's all folks. I don't even have any alternate versions of Tetris, just trusty old Gameboy version.

  8. Yay! Now I won't have to burn so many candles to keep my little home lit!

Still, this sucks. I've been waking up at 7:00 every day to work (why? Because it's spring break and I have to cover for my ex-girlfriend who is in colorado visiting the boyfriend she dumped me in, thus I am the only one capable of opening the store...). Sunday, however, we open an hour later, so I get to wake up... an hour... lat - ter........ aw damnit.

    7:00 equivilent, here I come. G'night all.

  9. Haha! Another Settlers of Catan player in our midst!

Anyway, I am yet another non-serious D&D player. I have an infamous character that people that know me cringe at. "Yeah, there's this strange dwarf dancin' with a cow by the shore. I don't know what odder; that he's dancin with a helpless cow or that the cow is the same ogre that's been terrorizin' the town."

"I am Mee. Can I have your pig?"

    "...I don't have a pig."

    "... ... ... Can I have it now?"

    "I DON'T have a pig."

    ::mutters words::

    "Yay! A pig!"

"Oink Oink Oink [i hate you]."

He seems to randomly show up in all of my campains in some way.

Great. Now I need to get another campain started up. That or I should continue the old one.

  10. Have I posted here before? It's been so long since I've Gendisced...

    My tops:

    Jigglypuff

    Link

    Kirby

I've played so many inexperienced players that I've taunted, I've accostomed myslef primarily to the Puffs (though being an avid LoZ fan helps). I can play with most characters fairly well though.

    My bottoms:

    Ice Climbers

    Captain Falcon

    Ness

Tiers: Yes. Utterly unfair tiers: no. Jigglypuff giving a better or equal dedicated Sheik a run for her money, priceless. For everything else, there's Homerun Bats.

  11. Long time since I posted here (thread/GenDisc)...

I don't know if it has been said, I don't know if it's close (but I'm posting it anyway).

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Mutated Emperor Ing. Hard Mode. (Helps that I did not remember to use the Annihilator). He kicked my butt time and time again. After beating the previous two E.Ing incarnations with no problem, I would get this dude down to half life and die. Max missiles, max beam ammo, max Energy tanks. Basically, I had completed the file on hard for 100% complete save for beating this dude (and what follows).

 Then I remembered the Annihilator Beam/Sonic Blast and I beat him after a couple tries.

  12. I'm not usually one to vote on individual pieces of music on this site (mostly because I know nothign about it past what I do and don't like). However, this is one work that I must make exception to. Secret of Mana is a legend in its own right, regardless of what the infinitesimally few may say.

This song however, did exactly what it was supposed to do and that was to put my head up in the clouds. I never really liked the original song before because it replaced 'Prophecy' and seemed to lack the same drama Prophecy invoked in me. Of course, now I have to plug my SNES back in just so I can hear this song again. Congratulations in turning a stubborn opinion. 8O

This is going up to the top of my most-played list right with The Darkness and the Light, Thrash the Plank, and Aphrodite Oceanus... Did anybody else just get the urge to put up with airport security?
