  1. Y'see, Ganondorf is evil because he's badly drawn and scottish. Y'see, next year they will release the movie, but it will be nothing but a 2-hour long collage of all the cucco attack sequences. Near the end, a cheesy zoom-in-on-a-cucco's-eyes-to-indicate-evil scene followed by the full out attack of the actor from the trailer, the music reaches its climax, and all that is show is link's hypnotized and drooling face, as seen by the chicken.
  2. More than 1/2 of my music is OCR. Around 2/3 to 3/4 of my music is video game related. It has something to do with disinterest in the lyrics to most of the music I find, or dislike of other qualities of the song.
  3. Rogers was good stuff. A nice and calm program that was still able to hold my attention as a kid. I actually didn't like the puppets part of the show. They were creepy/strange/scary to me as a kid and I had trouble even watching that part. Oddly enough, my favorite part of the show was the trolley that BROUGHT you to that place. Hehe. I never wear sweaters (and thusly don't own one), but I'll place my tip of the hat here in this thread. ::tip::
  4. Awesome thought just occured to me. Spring Break starts the very day before Brawl comes out. This is going to be an awesome break.

Don't judge a book by its cover is all good and all, but does that mean that you have to read every book you come across/play every game someone says is good? no, this proverb is best applied to people (and even that is a tad unreasonable by quantity). there's a difference between offering an opinion (ie "I'm not impressed") versus arguing against it (ie "the game is badly made"). and where jack thompson is concerned, I personally don't care how he feels about video games. I just care about what he tries to do about it. not exactly (depending on your definition of 'opinion'), but do we have the right to force you to try it? (furthermore, you don't know which of us are posting after playing the beta) They probably don't know much about the game, but they make their view direct if shortsighted. That just means that they are restricting themselves from what could be a great game, and there's nothing you can do to change their minds. The realm of entertainment really isn't where this becomes a problem. I love how this backfires on you. (On a side note, your statement isn't necessarily true.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What I see going on in here is you brought a halfway decent game that doesn't meet the reletively different tastes of all the posters here. They say they don't like it, then you insist they do/will. Maybe you're right and maybe you're wrong, but you must let your children grow up and make their own decisions, mother. I suggest you focus on the specific arguments that ARE offered (like you did regarding DarkLink's post) and talk to the people that DO approve of the game and its merits. Otherwise, you'll probably remain the target that you are. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Regarding the game. I watched the video and enjoyed it and the concept, though I did not play it I probably will not. I think I most enjoyed the fact that hammer bros upgrade is available about as much in one level than it is in all of SMB3. I love that suit. I also think several of the arguments are valid. I'd also prefer a better size-scale with the non-mario elements. The "non-snes graphics" didn't bother me too much, but I'm just not strict in terms of graphics. And yes, multiple game styles do complicate things greatly. Smash bros pulled it off, imo, by the fact that they did not tether it to a single game. Smash is not a mario game, but a nintendo game with nintendo(+) characters. Otherwise, people would probably complain whenever Mario used the super-scope... As a mario game, it's a tad wierd but cool. As a game, I approve. There are far worse things to call "Mario."
  6. I'll laugh when, late in February, everyone starts repeating their complaints in the form of "I thought [complaint] was going to suck, but actually..." and vice versa for some positive points. I can see it now, the last and final update: "We have three F's for an A game! Falcon, Falco, and a F$%*^&ing awesome ranking system! Isn't that cool? And Ness is an unlockable character (all you have to do is find his special assist trophy! Isn't that neato? Gee willickers, is this going to be swell! Oh, and the giant hands are going to replace the ice climbers, but you don't care about that, now do you?"
  7. Junior's Voice actor fit, I think... Bowser. Well, Bowser can never speak enough gutteral language to make up for the few lines of English he had uttered. Galaxy had a number of things it should have had unlocked after one or two 120-star runs, but they didn't. -Infinite Star Bits, the aforemntioned Toad/Peach playability (though that's a long shot), or most likely, unlock all the star warps in all the levels. Translation, take the (also aforementioned) linear nature away from the game and make it truly explorable (while adding a few warp stars so you can travel backwards and cut from one linear path to another). (Most) any prankster comet on every level? ...unlimited costume ability (fire flower for the remainder of level, w/toggle). The last star, lame as it was, did hold a small bit of circular satisfaction due to where it's found.
  8. Certainly not what I expected to hear when I read the source material as "Sad Song" but I like it nonetheless. Finally something a little less linear with this song. It's the innovative remixes on this site that drew me to it, and it's that same that keep me near.
  9. I just got 120! Booyah! You have no idea how surprised I am to get the last twenty in one sitting. All of the usual challenges already listed in this thread were there. Yet somehow, the last star I got was the daredevil star in the deep dark galaxy. I saw the title and my star count, and a wave of happy realization spread across my mind. v Luigi is a bit interesting as far as control goes. I didn't realise how much faster he ran until I got to the note-chase in the first galaxy. It was like listening to techno... ^

  11. I'm going to assume that some of that was authentic question. I am also going to hope to God (and I'm agnostic!) that the kirby-rock question was for the sake of lyrics. It looks like there will be free swimming at the surface of the water where if you spend too much time you will be dragged to the bottom by the Doom-Fish. It's hard to say if attacks will be available in the water, but if nothing else, you should be able to use your mid-air jump and recovery move to get out of the water and attack. Or maybe it's just a timing thing, like kirby's normal double-triple-quad jumps; awesomely useful, but limited. Or, most likely of all, it is a hazard that compels your character to be a synchronized swimmer, where they will wait until an ice-climber uses side-special attack to fish the victim out and eat them as food.

  15. Personally, I like a nice standard difficulty, but I usually play for a storyline more than challenge. However, if it is too easy, the game is just a really drawn out movie (assuming it even HAS a storyline) and as previously mentioned, a waste of time. I do like difficulty from time to time. Puzzle and Strategy games should definately have a variance in difficulty and difficulty modes should be implemented in most, if not all, games (and easy mode should NOT be unlockable! What the hell is the point?). My favorite example of difficulty level comes from Zelda, Ocarina of Time: Master Quest. By the time we've played it, we've all certainly played through the dungeons and storyline; the only reason to play master quest is for the improved challenge and new puzzles. Actually, this puts a question upon what exactly denotes difficulty? -The challenge to complete the game because of dying or without dying at all? -The challenge to accomplish a goal set by the main game or an additional tasks (ie all side-quests or "MGS unseen")? -The amount of time it takes you to ?-The number of times you throw the controller at a wall? (I give this game's difficulty "7 out of 10 controller-chucks!") -The effect of a game making you think? (back when you didn't have FAQs or manuals to fall back on). -The number of gaming hours spent leveling up to beat the final/extra bosses? -Something a little more intangible, perhaps? Edit: Something I thought of reading the post above me. Noted is the fact that some people feel rewarded after 20 tries then a boss-victory while others try three times and give up. This brings up something I feel in difficulty. I don't like games that seem insurmountable, which to the non-hardcore-gamer must be a lot more encompassing. (First of all, my favorite gameplay aspect is usually an interesting boss, so I'll speak in terms of that.) A boss can be a pushover (just hit it a couple more times; see Donkey Kong Country) and a boss can be , and a boss can be interesting. An interesting boss challenges you, but usually gives you a semblance of a chance.I find the most rewarding experiences to be when you fight a boss, do something stupid, and die. Then, you try again, don't make the same mistake, but soon die anyway. You keep trying and you keep getting bested. Everytime you play, you get a little closer to understanding. You're LEARNING! You are interacting with the game and treating each encounter differently! These are usually quite difficult boss battles, but you are urged to continue by your own little successes sifted out of your failures! It's this stance that has affected me positively IRL. As I try to solve a problem in Math or Comp. Science, I rarely do it right, but I can see what I've done, and I correct it. With feedback, we grow and remember where we've been! This is why I am a gamer.

  23. Yes, damnit. I have horrible April Fools Radar. I was only just noticing the date of the video. Even with that I was expecting "old", not "April Fools." I was actually a little excited. I'm still curious as to Miyamoto's comment on how the series will change... Edit: Due to the sheer quantity, I rarely, if ever, look at comments in YouTube. I admit I was a bit foolish overall.
