  1. Been here a while and haven't ever requested anything, but I noticed we have a severe lacking of a great old NES game.

In 1991 Konami released an obscure licensed game of The Lone Ranger. Despite not being well known, the game had some great gameplay for its time and is one of the few licensed games that doesn't suck. It also had a great score going for it.

Was hoping someone could take a look into remixing it.(I couldn't even find examples on youtube so I had to upload some)

    Here's some examples

I have no idea what the actual song titles are as I haven't found an official listing of them anywhere. There's more if you go to my uploaded videos(Town themes, overworld, etc)

  2. I think the focus would be a way to tell if people on your own team are leaving. Ragequitting because you are getting soundly trounced by another team is pretty common. I'm pretty sure it would be easy enough for them to detect obvious differences between other teams quitting because a team is obliterating them vs someone's own teammates leaving because they are a jackass.

And if it's pattern based, it would probably be easy to tell if driving your teammates away it's a consistent occurrence.

Yeah but then it punishes bad but not necessarily dickish players. The ones stuck on the trounced teams.

  3. If you read the original interview, that is not what was proposed.

The proposal was that valve looks for patterns in server population associated with particular users, so, if one guy logs on, and he attracts 30 people to the server because they want to play with him, he is rewarded for that. Meanwhile, if one guy logs on, and five people immediately disconnect because he is a spiteful jerk, he loses voice chat priveleges...

This method of analysis is self balancing, because users don't have direct control over other players' reputations, and the guy who would get upset and want to downrep someone in revenge for being beaten is the one who other people are less likely to play with.

I play L4D2 now and then. Do you know how often one team will ragequit because the other team outclasses them completely? And the better players will lose voicechat because of it? How does that make any sense?

  4. They still wound up selling 50 million worldwide total. That's still impressive cash.

If you have a higer price tag obviously you're not going to sell nearly as a much as a lower priced console would on launch day and you still have to sell enough to make back all the money you put into creating the products.

But that didn't stop the ps3 from being a success in the end and I'd bet Nintendo's new system will not be "another dreamcast" either.

Erm you know that if something costs more to make than you sell it at means they didn't make money on selling the console at all right?

  5. Terranigma

Yes. Definitely in my top 3 games of all time.

A game I can't believe I had missed, and just discovered recently is Another World (or Out Of This World, in the US). It was released and re-released for many platforms, but I got it for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis). Man, it's an amazing game with incredible graphics for its time. Difficult though, but I'm loving every second of it.

And yes. Check out Heart of Darkness(Made by the same guy) for the PSX. The most graphic death scenes I have ever seen in an E rated game.

  6. The computer says 9-9-9-9-9...9-9 days, which is over 27,000 years according to a quick calculator check. I think that the computer at the relaxation center is probably an unreliable source of information due to whatever damage occurred after Chell is first woken from stasis... who knows what happened though, unless it was merely fallout from GLaDOS being offline.

Actually says 9-9-9-9-9.....9-9-9-9-9 days(Found the audio file) So either it's extremely far in the future(If the repeat wasn't a glitch)...or it's around 270 years.

9,999,999,999 days is an extremely long time though and the facility would be in a much MUCH worse state

  7. I can definitely see the opened vault of humans leading to a Portal MMOG. Also is it just me or did the landscape outside Aperture Labs looks way too pristine? Holodeck anyone? Certainly allows room for a Chell-centric sequel.

Given that 200 years have passed since the first portal, the war with the combine has probably been over for some time. Given that aperture is using a salt mine for their facilities, there probably wasn't anything of significance to the combine nearby, hence the relatively unscarred land.

    So yeah.

  8. I wish cave's lemons rant was on youtube already. Oh and all of Rick's dialogue. Rick was hilarious.

Edit: Oh wait found the lemon one. That's one down.

Edit 2: Looks like someone uploaded Rick last night. Awesome.
