  1. I'm aware of the project. I'm also aware what has been released before. I am hopeful that this will be done in time. Thanks for the support!
  2. Also, can all people interested please PM me with their e-mail addresses so I can contact you further about the project?
  3. Hey! Excellent! Thanks for getting back to me! Although, the track is 7 seconds long..I wonder what you could offer..hmm well if you do decide to grab another track, let me know! Guys, this all seems to be going well, a few people i've spoken to had tracks they already wanted to do and it almost feels like it came along at just the right moment. I understand that people are busy, so I do appreciate taking the time to do these things. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together!
  4. I must insist we stop drawing attention away from why this thread was created in the first place. You guys are so much better than this, and the project has a lot of interest and potential to do well. Let us not argue, let us focus on putting out a fantastic album to mark this occasion. Anyway, moving on.. Is there any tracks that people would be interested in doing outside of who I have approached already? There appears to be a lack of interest in the Prime Trilogy and Fusion right now...any takers?
  5. Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated! I hope we can keep this topic on track, it almost slipped just then All those tracks won't be done most likely, it was just a list of themes I personally like, and I felt it was good starting ground to build the foundations for this album. It's early days, but are there any takers for any of these themes?
  6. Well you're entitled to your opinions but can you please consider the feelings of users here? It's very kind of them to allow us to make this thread and I don't think saying things that could be considered insulting, is really called for. I am however, pleased to have you on board of course.
  7. Thanks for the feedback so far guys! If anyone wishes to contact me about this, I can send you a PM with details on how to do that. Yes I am aware that these projects do take a while, but if it's not done in time, various songs could be released to mark it, as suggested above...then the album can be released when it's done. I would however, like to aim for that August 2011 date. I still feel 8 months is long enough to pull something together and I have around 6-8 people interested before actually posting here, who are keen fans and who I feel would be able to contribute. I'm not going to be too picky when it comes to quality on this, i'm not looking for a masterpiece, this is a fan based project for people who love the franchise and are reasonably talented who can make great sounding music. In regards to tracks, i'm looking for suggestions. I think there will be a few no brainers such as Brinstar Green, Ridley and the Escape theme. I also had ideas for things such as a "Space Pirate suite" with various different Space Pirate related themes. "Ing Suite" with various boss themes from Metroid Prime 2? Like I said, just throwing ideas around! @Theophany I would love to have you on board, your Zelda remixes are very nice indeed, I wonder how you would fair with Metroid though. @Rozovian You too also offer something I like, you have a range of additions to OCRemix. Again, I wonder how you would fair with Metroid. @Emperor Charlemagne Yes that is indeed me! Hello there I would be interested in hearing what you have to offer, feel free to give me an example of your work. Additionally, does anyone have any suggestions of themes that absolutely should be in the album? What themes have stood out over the past 25 years? If we can establish a rough amount of songs we may have a better idea of what we're looking at.
  8. My name is Darren, i'm the founder of the Metroid enthusiast website, Shinesparkers. As part of our efforts to mark the 25th anniversary of the Metroid franchise, I came up with the idea of an album covering music from a variety of Metroid games from Metroid NES to Metroid: Other M. Harmony of a Hunter is the largest and most diverse Metroid album yet, with 36 tracks covered by 24 artists. It covers a broad range of genres from various levels of talent and experience, all paying tribute to this great franchise. We hope that this will satisfy fans who want to see the anniversary marked in style, and will hopefully be something that gamers enjoy too. Spread the word and celebrate the anniversary of Metroid. Harmony of a Hunter will go live on the 7th August from our website, www.shinesparkers.net Stay tuned for more updates as we have them. ~~~~~~ Updates: 7th August 2011: Harmony of a Hunter released on time, no delays 31st July 2011: Harmony of a Hunter website goes live: www.shinesparkers.net/harmonyofahunter 31st July 2011: Harmony of a Hunter: Final preview video: 30th July 2011: Disc 1 mastered, track list finalised 25th July 2011: Track list currently being finalised 18th July 2011: Mastering begins 16th July 2011: Lee "The Orichalcon" Barber will be mastering the album due to Aaron's busy schedule 10th July 2011: Deadline reached with minor exceptions. Mastering to begin 17th July 7th July 2011: Second preview released: 3rd July 2011: Trimmed down the album based upon what I know won't be completed in time. One week remains 12th June 2011: First preview released: 31st May 2011: We are now closing the album to further suggestions Important notice: Some websites have been reporting that this is an official OCR album and crediting OCRemix as the website releasing this. This is NOT the case. I have been informed that this will not be an official OCR album. Instead, the album will be released through my website Shinesparkers (www.shinesparkers.net) our Metroid fan website and the wider Metroid community. OCR have expressed an interest to feature certain tracks and we look forward to seeing what they wish to do to help. The album was organised here on OCR but was never intended to be an official release for the website, merely a platform to organise things. We thank OCR for allowing us to set this up and we hope fans will enjoy what we have come up with. Disc 1 1. In the Beginning… (Title Screen, Metroid NES) by Mercury Adept 2. 9. More Metroid music in the world can't be a bad thing! I'd be interested possibly.. i've added you to AIM but I barely touch the thing so just PM me here I guess
  10. It's been some time, I was wondering if you received my soundfont that I sent you? Did you make good use of it in the end?
  11. ORLY? K >_> (yeah, Dome or Secrets of the Chozo) Anyway, i'd really welcome you to give it a go, you did a great job with Omega..although I wish it sounded more like the theme itself.. My idea for this soundtrack is that Samus starts off with a nice, calm and realxing tunnel theme, going deeper down into the depths of SR388, facing off against Zeta Metroids and the like, and then as she continues on, it should get darker and more sinister. Samus is alone on that planet, with no forms of communication and no way to get help. She isn't entirely sure what she should expect and the music should reflect that. Towards the end I want the music to be sinister, dark and evil, right up to the final epic battle against the Queen Metroid. Then there is a bit of hope in the music that breaks as she meets the baby Metroid and escapes SR388. Then, if Big Giant Circles wants to contribute a newer version of his incredible Anthem of a Metroid Hunter theme, that'd be awesome too! Instrument wise, choir has always been a big part of Metroid throughout the games, I use a little of it in my Dome theme, I think it sounds great. Problem is, there aren't many out there that sound great digitally Of course, all ideas right now, i'd love to hear from anyone else that would possibly be interested! Edit: After a chat in the OCRemix chat, I think the best thing for this idea of mine would be to just request one or two songs rather than trying to organise something too big without any real idea of what i'd like or what would work. So I would like to request versions of these themes: Secrets of the Chozo: Omega Depths: Just go with it and see what you can come up with, i'd rather have more Metroid 2 remixes than something that may fail. Perhaps post some short clips of what you can come up with and see how it goes? Sorry I can't really think straight tonight, I think i'll be off to bed x.x
  12. Well it's actually 3am here right now and I'm laid in bed on the good 'ol iPod touch, so I'll join there tomorrow and chat with you! How about contributing this Dome theme idea of yours?
  13. Perhaps you'd be the first person to contribute to this? I'd also love to chat with you about Omega, it's one of the tracks i'd love to remake. I've got an idea in my head that I feel would really work, but it's just the case of getting it out of my mind and down into Fruity Loops. I'd like to chat with you at some point if that's possible? You did a great job with Omega and I like the style you took, it's the closest anyone has got with that theme.
  14. Heh, coming from you of all people, that really means a lot. I am nowhere near a standard where I could compare myself to you guys. However I made it because I had an idea and an inspiration, and I love Metroid, and I love creating music. I really hope someone is willing to take on these requests and make something of it
  15. Apologies if this is not set out in the correct way or form, however I would like to request some Metroid 2 remixes or a complete Metroid 2 rescore. My reasons for this are quite simple. Metroid 2 is an important and vital story to the Metroid franchise, and this game is under appreciated and the black sheep of the franchise. My hope is that recreating the music, bringing it up to date with the distinct Metroid feel that I as a fan have come to know and love. Of course, there are already many Metroid 2 remixes out there, a few of my favourites are from Big Giant Circles and his excellent take on the ending theme, 'Anthem of a Metroid Hunter' and Richter's 'Surface Runner 388'. There are many themes that people would claim are just beeps, however this is completely untrue, if you listen closely enough you can hear something. The best case scenario would be a re-score of Metroid 2 which people will listen to and have an interest in playing the game. This could be a challenge, but lets have a show of hands and see what you can come up with. If anyone can do it, i'm sure OCRemix can! Thanks very much! P.S Although not to the standard of you guys, I did try myself to recreate the Dome theme, please check out my remix on Metroid Database titled 'Dome' under Metroid 2 remixes in the fan section!
  16. It's very nice to meet you too! I didn't know until about 2 weeks ago that my song had been uploaded to the Metroid Database, I was quite surprised it was accepted. I'm going to try and get you that harp, but not sure exactly how to get it to you. Erm, what remake of Super Metroid is this exactly? I've already been asked to help with a couple of Metroid projects, but I won't be giving any music to anyone unless it's perfect. So just go ahead with the harp...if you can PM me any messengers you use, let me know so I can add you. I use MSN, AIM, Skype and even YIM at a push..
  17. Firstly, it's amazing what you can find by typing your name into a search engine these days. Secondly would you mind deleting that file you have hosted and link with this one: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/115372 Finally, I would be more than willing to send you that soundfont you are asking for if you can contact me via pm. I just want to add that this is the last place I expected this song to be, I am not worthy of OCRemix. However, i'd love it for you to check this one out: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/190930 - Metroid 2: Dome theme (There isn't a whole lot of Metroid 2 themes around, hope this one is cool..
  18. I'd really like to see some Diamond/Pearl remixes if anyone has the time! Not entirely sure what i'd like to see more, maybe some of the battle music perhaps? On a side note, i'd also like to see a remix of the Gold/Silver gym battle music! Let me know if there are any takers!
