  1. Ah, I thought so about the soundfounts. Though, I'm still wondering about the VST, because I'm wondering how it can be used in FL. Actually, I'm wondering if FL even has a starting one!

What I meant by starting to remix...like, for instance, will I be recreating the song right now? Or would I use the option of an MIDI file import, and other questions like that.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm rushing this, I'm just trying to find a fast way to do it. I'll look for some more tutorials and look at more videos.

  2. ^^ Yeah, I managed to change it, and it makes more sense

This may be me just being musically stupid, but I'm starting to understand what each view is. What I'm wondering is if I'm ready to even experiment with remixing yet, and if so, any tips on starting?

As a follow up question: While looking in the Browser view, I was wondering if the only sounds I could use are found in the "Packs" portion, or am I just missing stuff? I've heard of plug-ins, VST, and soundfonts, but I'm clueless as how to use them

  3. I started to mess around with the Playlist, though I'm still a bit confused

Like, I made a pattern in Step Sequencer. Then, I went to playlist and put it in. I got that, but afterwords, it just stopped. I tried to draw more blocks, but it didn't do anything.

I'm also wondering about overlapping patterns...is that even possible, or does the one instrument need to be in the pattern already?

Example: Let's say I have a drum beat. Just a very basic one. Let's say I want to put a violin over it with a slightly different drum beat - could I make those into seperate patterns and then overlap them, or do they need to be in the same pattern?

Also...the step sequencer...are the only sounds that can be used found in the "Packs" part of the Browser? I think there's more, but I was just wondering, though I am mainly concretating on the playlist part right now

  4. Double Post, I know...

I viewed the videos that Zircon gave me. I seem to understand some things in them, but I'm wondering a few things still

    1) With the Step Sequencer, I know you make loops...but how do they convert or appear in an actual song? Or are they an actual song?

    2) Where is the actual song? Everything I've used has always been in a wave-like format, so I'm still a bit confused with that. I thought it was in the Piano Roll, but I'm not sure at all.

So, I know a little bit of everything now with the videos. Now I'm just a tad bit confused on where to start, or which things (Step Sequenced, Playlist, Piano Roll) to start with

  5. ^^ Looks like a great source

I used the Help features and such, and it didn't recognize any of those 2 phrases/words you gave me.

Messing around with the program has led me to 2 things which I would figure may help me, but I can't exactly tell.

One is the remix agent, which I can describe as this: Once I open a song in a .VIP (That's the project extensions for the program) and use it, it takes a metronome (I actually know what that is...somewhat) to get the beat and such.

Afterwards, I can use an Object Editor and SoundFX menu in the Mixer, which looks like this:

    Sound FX: http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2391/screen4lg6.jpg

Again, I realize hardly anyone, if no one, uses this program...I was hoping this info would help, if anyone could help me

  6. Well, I got this program called Magix Music Studio, and I'm hoping to be able to start remixing some songs for my own personal gaming site.

However, I've never done anything with music editing or mixing, and I'm clueless. I'm in a real bind, so obviously, asking for some help. I'm gonna post some screen captures in this thread since not many people here seem to use this program.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

My first question is this: Am I suppose to open the song or will I be starting new? (I'm literally that clueless). When I do open the song in the program, I get this screen:

    http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/8117/screen1wx8.jpg

I don't know what "Format Conversion" means at all. I assumed it meant to what folder would I like to send it to...so I went to my folder and opened the song and got this:

    http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/2973/screen2fn3.jpg

I realize that's a song, but after that, I'm absolutely clueless.

If anyone can tell me what I should start with or what I might be looking for, please let me know. If you are willing to help and need me to go to something and then take a screenshot of it, I'll be glad to do so

I'm really hoping to start some remixing soon, but I'm willing to learn first...I really need some help

  7. With Christmas being here, I asked for a music program to start remixing (I came here earlier asking about programs) and got one.

I got "Magix Music Studio 11 Deluxe" or something like that.

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me more about it or anything. I'm looking for something that's easy to use and such - I just want to remix some songs for my site and such

I know FruityLoops, though I've never used it. How does this compare to it?

  8. I'm not a remixer of any kind, but I'm looking to become one, or at least do something with remixing, mainly for my sites.

I was wondering, what is the recommended program for remixing? I've heard of Fruity Loops, Sony's Acid & Sound Forge, and Adobe Audition, but I don't know much about them and their capabilities and how someone completely new would use them.

Also, would there be other items needed to remix? I'm not looking to be professional or anything like that, just to make some decent remixes.

    Any help is appreciated
