  1. I don't remember the exact way to do it; I'd have to dig through zircon's FL Studio basics video again. But I believe there's a way to permanently set the linkup between specific knobs and faders for each plug-in with a specific MIDI controller, so that everytime you open that plug-in and use that controller, it will remember those settings and you won't have to set them back up all over again. I haven't made much use of it though because I've only barely been using the M-Audio Oxygen25 I purchased a few months ago; generally I only pull it out for using a keyboard.

EDIT: Looks like you have to right-click on the plugin in your browser's Current Project section and use Override Generic Link instead of Link To Controller; that's what makes it stick for future projects.

  2. Thanks guys, if it's not too much trouble do you think you could give a quick scan over the tracklist in the first post and let me know if anything is wrong? I know someone pointed out that Final Beacon might not be from the first game. But I looked it up and heard what sounded like 2 versions of it. It stinks that no definitive OST was released to make it easier. Thank you!

Yeah, Final Beacon's a GS2 track (it plays after the fourth and final lighthouse, the Mars one, is lit). Everything else in the tracklist of the OP post is definitely from GS1 though. Final Beacon is actually in GS1's soundtrack .gsf files in the actual cartridge, but is never used in that game as far as I know, unlike what wildfire just mentioned about Isaac's Battle in GS2. I guess Motoi composed it earlier and just couldn't find a good use for it until 2?

  3. Honestly I have no idea. I got a rip of the music from Golden Sun 1 soundtrack (I specifically avoided the second one) that includes all those Battle tracks, plus there's that website that has them listed... It's been so long since I've played the game I don't really remember. I know Felix is in the game.. if we do end up accidentally covering a song or two from Lost Age I don't figure it'll matter much, as long as it's awesome.

I can verify that Felix Battle is only from GS2, even though Felix is in GS1. Though ironically, Isaac Battle is included in GS2.

  4. I spent most of the weekend watching this, and it was absolutely incredible that they raised over a million dollars for this. Some of my personal highlights:

    - The four-player simultaneous race to see who could finish a Super Metroid any% run the fastest, followed by a quickie "who can beat Spore Spawn the fastest" run to make up for the fact that Spore Spawn is entirely skipped in the any% (you can watch that whole set

    if you missed it)

    - Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out both completed while blindfolded

    - Random dude speedrunning Mighty Morphin Power Rangers SNES on the bonus stream yesterday

    - WONDERSHOT!!!

  5. What do you mean by "alone" participants?

He probably means like in FFCC where three participants left in any given bracket in a late week would all "fight a boss", which entailed the three of them all remixing that boss's own theme song with each of theirs. It'd be like three people in this compo, persay, who each chose Green Hill, Marble, and Spring Yard from Sonic 1 for example, all going up against Chaos from Sonic Adventure, and so one person having to remix Green Hill with Chaos' theme, and so-on. And then that week, everyone would vote on who's mix was best of those three.

That worked exceptionally well for FFCC, but FFCC had less people signing up in the first place which skewed what would normally be the weekly schedule for a single-elimination tournament, so while it's an awesome idea when it works, I don't think it would work here since we've got a solid 32.

  6. You got the right attitude about keeping to it but you totally didn't bomb out of FFCC. There were people who didn't even enter, a lot of them. If I were you I'd consider myself a winner of FFCC. Because you are. I'm excited to see what you'll crank out for SZRC and I wish you had been able to make more for FFCC.

Thanks man. I was being facetious really, but even so, I consider FFCC a win personally, because it got me making music again after a 5+ year downtime. That was far more important than how I did during the compo, and that's why I'm just as excited to try SZRC.

  7. Hey, Sonic 3 in the Sonic and Knuckles Collection PC port/compilation had entirely different songs for Carnival Night

    -
    , Ice Cap
    -
    , and Launch Base
    -
    (
    ,
    , and
were also different for those curious who weren't aware of this before now). Are those possible as picks?

I bombed out of FFCC in the first week, but I'm only gonna get better as a musician if I force myself to keep working at it, so I'm going to keep participating in compos. I'll definitely hop in this one.

EDIT: Xenonetix's list is missing half the Sonic Adventure 2 playable stages. Does this mean only full stages playable by the good guys in any given game are eligible?

  8. from groupchat? i added my number to the list and my phone hasnt been blown up yet. i did install groupme, but i havent set it up yet. also, i dunno if this is in the OP ( i dont have time to check atm) but theres a guidebook for mag that you can download for android or ios, it has the schedule, some maps, and i think you can bookmark panels and stuff! just download the app "guidebook" and search for magfest.

Yeah, I added schedule and Guidebook info to the OP already.

GroupMe is what he's talking about (not GroupChat), and though you've installed it, someone who's already a member of the group and has you in their Facebook or phone contacts needs to add you to the OCR group first before you'll start getting the barrage of texts in there.

  9. I was planning on downloading the latest Project M tonight or tomorrow, so I can bring an SD card with it on it.

Just so you know, I replied to Bardic on Twitter earlier and am already bringing Hackless Project M on a spare SD card for him, in case you didn't want to waste an SD card yourself.

Not that installing Project M on your devices is ever a waste, but anyways. XD

  10. From the pictures it seems that there's no sheik, but he could be introduced later on.

To be fair, Zelda was announced for Brawl on June 25, 2007, but Sheik wasn't confirmed until January 16 the following year, so just because Sheik isn't in today's screenshots doesn't really mean anything.
