  1. The teaser title needs to go, to be replaced by the name of the game and song. I also have to wonder if we listened to the same song. It's meant to convey something, and it does. Well, opinions be opinions.

An orchestrated remix could be very good.

On another note, as big as Maverick Rising was, it's very front-heavy. MMX4-8 got almost no covers. An addendum album is very necessary.

  2. This is really well made. My only gripe is that listening to it the first time I had a hard time picking out the sources until later in the mix. After I "found" them, I got into the rhythm of it and it was no problem, but at the start coming into it I found them a bit difficult to pick out. Repeat listens did help a lot. Otherwise props for mad skillz!

  3. Infinity Mijinion is actually the original Japanese name for the character as well as his stateside name. Now I remembered hearing that Mijinion meant "flea" but Google Translate says the Japanese word for "flea" is "nomi". The Japanese word for "water flea", however, is "mijinko". Give that word a cooler spin on it and you've got Mijinion. So to translate properly, that would be Infinity Water Flea. Capcom would've been laughed back to the other side of the globe in much the same way as if they had called Boomer Kuwanger Boomer Stag Beetle ("Kuwagatamushi" means stag beetle).

And I suck because I never have anything to say about any songs that are good other than that they are good. So this is a good song. Woo~

  4. Awesome mix. That's really all there is to say.

Also, I don't think MMX6 is a bad game, just that things like Ground Scaravich's being unplayable without dying (sometimes several times) to reset the configuration of the level (which is randomized at certain parts) so that you can clear it, or Blaze Heatnix's stage being borderline impossible thanks to the giant red mechaniloids that patrol the stage make a lot of people very angry with Capcom (myself included). Other than that stuff (and a few other minor things) you could argue that X6 is almost as good as 4 or 5.

  5. Pretty good. I'm definitely hearing WillRock-style. I'd almost say this should be considered a Rondo of Blood/Dracula X remix though. "The Hidden Curse" is only there for a couple seconds, and "Bloodlines Bequeathed" was already a remix of "Opposing/Divine Bloodlines".

Also, the title is called "The Whip's Memory" because that's what you're fighting when "Bloodlines Bequeathed" plays. It's more a straightforward title than anything else. Kind of funny seeing these clueless responses chalking it up as profound because they don't know the context there.

  6. Nope, not feeling it. This feels like you're trying to force-feed techno down poor Mr. Glenn's throat. Trouble is, Frog's Theme isn't meant to be heard as a techno piece. Point-in-fact, neither are most of the other tracks on the Chrono Trigger OST. Celtic, sure. Rock, maybe. But not this.

Good example of an eager and blooming skillset being applied to the wrong thing on one of its pioneering leaps out the window. I recommend getting up, dusting yourself off, and trying again with a song that techno was meant for.

Edit: Thanks for calling me names because I don't like the song everybody. Because I just love that and totally deserve it...oh wait, I don't! Sorry for speaking my mind...I guess. Won't happen again. I forgot I'm not allowed.

  7. Yeah, I was driving home from college listening to this tune and humming it in thoroughly weird/different ways to keep myself from being bored and falling asleep (which is pretty likely to happen when you've got a hour-ten commute and you're running on five hour's sleep) and I started humming it with a sort of rock styling to it. I was very surprised to find that it fits.

But of course this is all actually impossible and in no way should anyone in particular perceive this as a challenge and make a mix of it.

And unfortunately I have no idea where anybody goes around here unless otherwise stated. People just tend to go missing around here. It's depressing.

Edit @ OCRE: Just checked out your midi. It's pretty good as a straight-up remastering. Usually where midis are concerned people have some parts where the tune will sound perfect and then they'll get lazy and leave out important details other parts (particularly faster bits). You did not take such a shortcut, so you win cyber-waffles.

  8. I bet nobody can make a demented rock track out of Chaotic Playground. With maybe somebody singing stuff in a similarly demented way about demented things as the voice of Legion. But of course this is impossible, 'cause there's nobody in the world that can do it. No I am not using the latest trend in OCR reverse psychology. This is your imagination.

Edit: On the off-chance someone does attempt this thoroughly impossible task, they should take care to abide by the following guidelines with regards to the lyrics, should they be included:

1)If your singing voice sucks and you have no one to sing for you, quit.

2)If your writing the lyrics and they sound even the slightest bit corny or out of place (as is so common in songs with vocals here on OCR or in video game covers in general), also quit.

  9. Personally, I think OCR is still missing a good Magus remix. For some reason every single last one of the songs that cover it cut out the last part of the source, which happens to be the most epic part, and when it is included, it's only thrown in once as if to say, "yeah, we have it in there, moving on." while the first part gets repeated several times. Messed up if you ask me.

  10. Because AMT's remix was a massacre of the song, not to mention the part about me wanting a song other than Departure getting attention, I'm renewing my request for a song from the list.

A rock remix of Straight Ahead, Power Field, Crossover Station, or Falling Down in particular would be awesome. Don't put any of that senseless yelling in it like AMT though. I swear, that sort of thing is one of the leading causes of rock music falling into ruin.

  11. I saw a "remix" of Chykka's Adult Form Theme and Gandrayda's on youtube, and while all the guy who made it really did was smash game-rips of the two songs together, the premise behind it is something I've thought would work well myself, seeing as the tempo and instruments used for both songs are more or less the same. Anybody want to take a crack at this? Like a song that sort of switches back and forth between elements of both songs and merges them completely in some parts? Could be tricky, but could be fun!
