  1. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix.

Just to clarify... I'm allowed to have a friend play the bass guitar part I've got half written out, and it's all right if he just improvises over the rest?

Hah, naming it... that's going to be a toughy for me, too. And no story this time. How happy is it? Something like "Tales of Euphoria" sounds rather nice. 's got the "pho" and "ia" sounds in it.

  2. Kirby 64, Pop Star theme - http://www.mediafire.com/?gzyc5xxhym8 - Scotch Star Pub, my PRC118 submission, minus tapping and slightly changed guitar (took off extra reverb and raised the volume a taaaad.) Or if that link don't work, http://compo.thasauce.net/files/Binweasel_-_Scotch_Star_Pub(PRC118).mp3

    Robowarrior, Keep Moving - http://compo.thasauce.net/files/Binweasel_-_Folks__Nothing_to_See_Here(PRC117).mp3

Mainly I need help with mixing/mastering/wotever-you-call-it. Organizing the instruments on the audio plane in a clear, pleasing manner (rather like Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell", even though that's the pinnacle of their sound and not likely to be achieved by me within the next decade...) Not so much with the arrangements, as I've no plan on working these over for OCR submission.

Now, I've read articles. I've waded through seas of engineering jargon, wrenching open clams both pompous and humble for the smallest pearls of wisdom. I've even tried to apply some of these to what little I know of Reason 3, experimenting here and there with things and finding... that I have no bally clue what I'm actually doing. Or, on the other hand, I'll have a vague notion of what I'm trying to accomplish, and yet can't tell the difference between what it sounds like, what I want it to sound like, and what it wants to sound like. Like forcing what you believe to be a circular block into a square hole, only it's actually a triangle. And it's biting your ears.

Also, any word on whether or not the instruments sound real enough would be awesome, and any tips on how to improve them... I'm still in the stages of "Wow, it's not plain midi anymore. Good enough!"

So, I ask you: Not, "What should I do?" Rather: "What would YOU do?" No lollygagging "it might sound better if..." - cold, hard facts, please. If it helps, here are the Reason project files. I know you won't have the same instrument samples as me, but I think all the settings and combinators and everything is still there, so you might be able to spot something I'm doing wrong, or something I'm not doing at all (EQing.)

  3. Bud ofsisser, Oi whuzn't drivvingk der carrrr... wiv my hands!

Shucks, thought I had an extra day to vote. Not that I had much to say except Flexy's rocked and Rexy's was adorable. Adorable.

As people were inquiring about the drumming noise: just a little random something thrown on last minute to amuse (mostly myself). Wanted something live, all I had was an acoustic guitar that I couldn't learn the chords to the song on fast enough. Sounded nice to tap on. First take, thought: Bah, everyone's s'posed to be drunk in the tavern anyways, no worries! Slap it on, wot! Still, no excuses (apart from that).

    Come Friday, come excitement!

  4. @gt - i'm up for hand delivering stuff for whoever, as long as it's reasonable. however, up to this point i have mailed almost everything i've built. so, yeah, i'll ship to cali...

What shipping company do you use? And where can you ship to? P.O. boxes? Does the price of shipping get tacked on to the price of the computer? I wouldn't mind paying for it... once I have money to buy one in the first place.
