  1. ugh, sorry, but another question... When I record my MIDI tracks, the soundfonts kind of fade in and out every so often, regardless of the dynamic! I dunno why it's doing this... anyone understand this problem?
  2. Oddly enough, my keyboard is USB type-A to type-B. It's connected fine and records. I was just wondering whats the best way to actually record it. So it's preference huh? Guess I'll have to experiment. Thanks!
  3. One more question: When recording MIDI, is it best to stay on a piano patch, or put your intrument on first? I haven't experimented too much because I simply haven't had time to write a decent... anything... summer classes suck muchly... Basically I'd like to know the best way to actually record MIDI. I use a Yamaha 6-octave keyboard.
  4. so... my Aerith's theme idea is... good (maybe)? Oh and... *way clever...* no seriously if I had $$ I probly would if it would help! By the way props on the soundfont collection! those rock!
  5. Just finished Oblivion (after like a year of being able to but putting it off so much...) and I have no idea what to pick for a summer game...
  6. Just wanted to ask about what a good ReMix can be here. They're pretty basic questions and have probly been asked before, so if i'm repeating, please point me to the proper thread. 1. How diverse can the selection of instruments and styles be within one song? Is there a line drawn somewhere? 2. Do you record MIDI, layer on the instruments you want, and then throw in a music editing software to master it? What's the tried and true method? 3. Are the judges bribable? Like... with cookies... or servitude... or something? lol
  7. I dunno if anyone's used it yet but... "I NEED SCISSORS!! 61!!!" -Colonel, MGS2
  8. Despite my idiocy in the area of digital music, i figured out how to make it work! Thanks Circles, I had misplaced the .dll and that's where the problem was!
  9. OK, I wiped sfz off my computer and redownloaded it, and here's what I have in the folder: the sfz .dll file, the sfz application icon, an uninstaller and an uninstal DAT file. The program opens fine, and even recognizes my keyboard, but the output dropdown menu is grayed out... Do i have to open VST plugins within music software or do they operate independently?
  10. I can't get my SFZ working... I've been getting a huge headache trying to figure it out and I guess I'm horible at finding info on the internets, so I'll ask here. Those of you who saw my post in Remixing, feel free to consider me an idiot =) Anyways, hope someone could lend a word or two!
  11. Okay, so I realize on about my third perusal of the forum that there's a whole noob section... Guess I'm blind like that... Anyways, I'll go try there.
  12. Hey all. I'm pretty new here and am kinda confused by music software in general. I'v had a keyboard that can connect to my computer and some different low-level softwares (Cakewalk Music Creator 2, Audacity), and mostly understand midi recording, but when I try to get decent samples and soundfonts, i can't play them on any VST software (sfz mainly). Anyone have any tips on how this stuff runs? My main problem with sfz is that I cannot set an output =( I've tried several things that don't work at all... any help would be awesome!
