And, in a minor update, I finally fixed the broken links in the roster. Now you can actually listen to the original source tunes without having to track them down.
EDIT: And PL155 is taking on "Story of the Stolen Spirits." That brings the total down to 4. Almost there. Let's keep it rolling everybody!

Hello everybody! Sorry for my lack of activity of late. I've been working through some real-world business, and I'm just now getting a chance to post an update.
So Hicky Eighth is now on-board, taking on a Shy Guy's Toy Box mix. That brings our album open-track count down to 5.
Hicky is also adding on the Dojo Master's battle theme as a bonus track. And now for some information on bonus tracks.
The main drive of the album was to pay tribute to Paper Mario, and I decided to focus on the main story of the game for coherence (and sanity). That's what the list in the OP has been. However, I realize that some people's favorite tracks are either not on the list, or have been preempted by the "equal representation of chapters" set up. So I'm opening it up for a bonus track section. Here's the breakdown for that:
1. I still want to focus on filling the main story-centric part of the album. So until the main roster is full, I will only be accepting bonus tracks from mixers with a track claimed in the main roster. Once the main roster is full, it will be free-game for everybody.
2. The same style requirements will apply to the bonus tracks.
3. Bonus tracks can only be taken from tracks that are not in the roster.
I hope that all makes sense. Some of you are probably asking, "But what if I don't like any of the available tracks in the main roster?" If that's the case, please PM me. I'm open to switching out a roster track for another track from the same chapter. Again, PM me so we can discuss your options.
Finally, I've been in communication with the judges, trying to get the album approved for official status. It's still a work-in-progress, but we are working closely with the judges to make sure that we produce the best, OCR-quality album that we possible can. I'll keep you posted as developments arise.

And jnWake has been deemed worthy by our panel. Let's all welcome him aboard!
That brings us down to 6 tracks remaining. Anyone else want in?
-
Ah yes, Toad Town. Due to an oversight on my part, it wasn't on the original tracklist, so that could explain why it wasn't picked yet.
I'm sending you a PM with more details about participation.
-
Sorry for the lack of updates. Between final exams and transitioning from school to the real world, I've been preoccupied. However, this project is far from dead. We're still refining our current WIPs, and we're in the process of applying for official status.
We also have 7 tracks available, so jump on board and pick one of the remaining tracks! Don't feel up to a solo? Grab a friend and try a collab. Just send me a sample of your work, and our panel will see if you're a match for our project.
-
Not a problem man. We've all got responsibilities, and being able to prioritize them is very important. I saw your list, and I'm okay with the wait. You don't strike me as one to back out of an obligation unless circumstances demand it.
-
Sorry for the long time since posting. Life has been very busy. Quick updates, due to various circumstances, we have 7 tracks available and ripe for the picking. I did, however, just notice that the links to the source tracks are down. I'll try to get that fixed in the next week or two.
Also, I've started the application process to get Official status. Once I hear back from the judges on a verdict, we'll start developing a new plan of action. In the meantime, let's try and get that roster full.
-
So, it's time to bump this thread with an update. After some tough decisions, we now have 7 tracks available for the taking. So if you were interested in a track and wanted to get involved, shoot me a PM with a sample of your best work, and the panel and I will get back to you.

Flat Notes: A Paper Mario ReMix Album - http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31725
Project Director: RECKENEFIN
Assistant Director: Hylian Lemon
Status: 2 Songs remaining, next deadline 1/15/12
Added another song, so that brings the tally to 3. Next deadline is 4/15/12.
-
Woah, woah, wait. No Toad Town remix? Is it too late to change that? I have a lot that I'm working on, so I can't. I'd love to do it, but I can't. I just want to point that out in case somehow nobody noticed that yet.
You know, I don't know what I was thinking there. Maybe I didn't think it was a major theme, but I don't know why I would think that. You hear it repeatedly throughout the game. I've added that to the list.

2 songs are available total, as of today. Deadline is still the same.

So, it's been a while since my last update, so here we go.
1. A bit of a step backwards, "Live at Club 64" is now back up for the taking, bringing the available count to 2. In-game, this song had "vocals" which amounted to "oh-oh-oh-oh" etc. So it would be nice to see this song with some actual lyrics. But that would be up to whoever takes the song ultimately.
2. The other available track would be "Huffin' and Puffin'," so keep that one on your radar as well.
3. Don't forget about the people that have volunteered their instrumental and vocal skills to ReMixers in need. It's easy to overlook that list in the OP, but they could make the difference for somebody.
4. The final battle track, "King of the Koopas," has been taken by DarkSim. Big round of applause and a warm welcome.
5. And finally, as the final list fills up, I'll be pursuing OCR approval, as well as a back-up plan in case that does not work out.
I'll post about this in the project list thread. Hopefully now that unofficial projects are included, more people will look into the lesser-known projects that are here.
-
Still working on that. I'm open to suggestions. It hasn't quite been at the forefront of my mind since the roster isn't filled yet.
-
The goal would be to get official OCReMix project approval. And before anyone says anything, yes, I know I went about starting this the wrong way. I'm well aware of that, but we've got play with the cards we've dealt ourselves.
-
And we've passed another checkpoint, so the next one will be January 15, 2012 . . . ya know, assuming that the Mayan's just lost interest in their calendars and all.
Just fyi, I only post the deadline/checkpoints here to give prospective mixers a better feel for the schedule we're on.
-
So, one week before another checkpoint, and I have an update! We have only ONE MORE TRACK left to be taken! That's right, it's taken quite some time, but we've almost filled up the roster . . . assuming all of the currently listed artists are still alive.
Anyway, the two artists who are now on board are the indescribable Huko C (taking over Chapter 4) and, please welcome from YouTube, Mesmonium (taking over Chapter 5).
I hope you'll excuse my theatrical mood. I'm having a good day, and I hope you all have one too.
-
Any style is permissible, but it must incorporate orchestra in some integral way. In the background, in the forefront, in it's entirety, whatever you choose.
So, yes. As long as the orchestra/symphonic elements are there, elctro-symph should be fine.
-
A belated update, but Tuberz McGee is on board for "Siege on Bowser's Castle," which brings the total tracks remaining to 3. So close.
-
Update!
Nintendude794 is on board for "The Mushroom Kingdom." One more track down.
Also, after being informed that the track previously listed for Chapter 8 wasn't very representative, I decided to change it. The new track up for grabs is "Siege on Bowser's Castle." This is the track for Bowser's castle, and the sample contains all 4 variations.
So close. Let's do it!

Just a heads up to anyone who is interested, we've got 2 support banners posted in the original post. Generously provided by hybridmink and Sir Jordanius, these banners are much better than the cut & paste job that I had in my sig thus far. Thanks to both!
-
Ah, which reminds me. From now on, if anyone is interested in participating, please let me know through PM. That way it keeps this thread for updates and comments, and it keeps ... eh ... "controversial" selections more private.
And for those questioning any of our selections, I refer you to my sig.
-
Alright, the results are in, and the selection panel has agreed that Pyro Paper Planes gets the track. He asked first, and his skills are on par with the competition. Thanks to Emunator for being a good sport about it.
In other news, after some thought that has been going on for a while, I've trimmed out a few tracks that aren't as necessary, which brings our overall track count to 5! Almost there!
Also, Terra Mater has offered her skills to your compositions. If you can use her, or any of the other artists offering their abilities to the project, give them a look.
And, on a thread-related note, "Recknefarian"? What's up with that?
-
Alright, the next checkpoint is going to be on October 15, 2011. I'm calling them checkpoints because we need all of the tracks taken before we can enforce deadlines, but I still want to promote progress.
That said, we've still got 7 tracks left, and it would be great to have them all taken soon. I know we can do this.
-
And that's all that I'm looking for on the first time through. A rough direction is better than none at all.
Flat Notes: A Paper Mario ReMix Album - 7 TRACKS AVAILABLE!

So I've got two updates this time around.
First, theshaggyfreak is taking on Toad Town Theme. We're nearly there guys! This would bring the tally down to 3.
Well, it would, if I didn't also add the Goomba Village theme to the roster. I don't know why I originally decided not to include that one, but I just came to the conclusion that it would not be an accurate representation of the game's story if I left out the world where you first wake up. So the tally is still at 4, but we are doing a great job of filling the roster. Keep it up!
