  1. A little background. I had some free time one day and cranked this out on Finale back in 2009. I then got Finale 2010 for Christmas and updated the samples a little, tweaking some things here and there. I don't necessarily plan on fixing it up any more, but I figured, while I'm on a forum devoted to music, I could get a little critique on it.

This track was to go along with a poorly drawn and crudely animated cutscene to a non-existent game based on a cliche teen/young adult superhero story that's been in the back of my [insert adjective here] mind (no, I don't plan on linking to anything other than the music. I don't want to hurt you.). Basically, this music takes place when two lead scientists on a top-secret government project are trying to get rid of the only prototype of a device they've been working on before a mad scientist breaks in and steals it. In the end, the military base gets destroyed, but the prototype escapes, leading into the title and main theme at the end.

For a breakdown, the majority of the piece is a bunch of different variations of the mad scientist's theme, with the main hero theme appearing in a mysterious tone at the beginning and a quiet tone at the end.

My main qualm about it is that it sounds empty to me. I'm sure there are other technical errors as well (considering my lack of any musical theory or orchestration training), so you can be honest. It's just a hobby, so you're not going to crush any of my hopes and dreams or anything like that.

  2. Alright, some updates. A few more songs have been taken. Still plenty open, so if you're interested, let me know.

Also, after conferring with my assistant director, we've established the first WIP deadline to be April 15, 2011. That's a ways away, but I'm just letting everyone know about the deadline so they have something to shoot for. That is more than likely the earliest that the deadline will be. Depending on how recruitment goes, it might be pushed back, but hopefully all the major slots will be filled by then.

  3. Ok, I've done some restructuring of the project. I hope this opens some possibilities for artists and makes the project less formidable. Please feel free to check the original post for better details.

Also, if you are interested, please do not reply to this thread. Please send me a PM so we can keep this thread clear of unnecessary clutter and get on to the screening process in a clean and orderly manner.

  4. He can have it, if you've got to debate between a posted mixer and a noob just give it to that guy... I've got way too much stuff to do anyway

Man, you jump to conclusions a bit. I wasn't debating between you and him. I was debating whether I was going to go with your plan or not. I was keeping the track for you.

Regardless, we're going to be reworking the audition system and standards, so I'm going to hold off on accepting new people for a bit. I'll keep everybody posted as things develop.

  5. Now it does.

EDIT: Electrolisystem has requested that he be named for the track for now, but if someone else wants to take it, he'll relinquish his claim to them. I think I understood that correctly. Basically if someone else wants the Title Theme, it's open; otherwise it's taken. :???:

EDIT2: And NeonGaming has decided that he can't commit to the Tubba Blubba track at this time, so that track is now open for the time being.

  6. Perfect example. Someone posts after me, I post update saying that Electrolisystem has claimed the Title Theme track. Now I won't post again until someone posts after me, and I'll just edit this post.

No more pointless, unrelated to anything posts though please.

EDIT: Yay, I get to demonstrate my plan. I've decided to post my first deadline of sorts. Figure I need to start putting up some sort of timeline. So, I want to try and have all of the tracks signed up for by FEBRUARY 5. 2011, which also happens to be the game's 10th anniversary of North American release. Seeing as some of the projects seem to be wrapping up by the end of this year, and realizing how busy everyone is with life and other stuff, I figure 2.5 months is fairly reasonable to have all of the tracks claimed, considering that people have been slowly trickling in every week. If we get them all filled before then, great! I'll just move onto the next deadline. Just a heads up for you all. The way life is going, February 5 will be here before we know it.

  7. Could we please drop the egg thing? :banghead: I was going to ignore it after it was posted. Take it as a joke and move along. If you guys want to argue over who was right and wrong, do it in PM, not here. Because, while my practices are somewhat in question (working on that), this is a recruitment thread, and not a "beat the dead egg-throwing horse" thread.

    Thank you.

Now, back to recruiting. And if anyone brings up the egg-thing or anything else unrelated to the project and/or recruitment, I'll bring the angry Darke here myself.

  8. Before an angry Darke comes in and tells you - any recruitment thread in this forum is for recruitment, not project coordination, wip discussion, and egg throwing. Hylian Lemon ran his project in the remix feedback section, as did Bahamut and Taucer with DKC2 during some stages of its development. Other places to run the project at are KNGI (numerous projects) and ThaSauce (FFIV, dunno others). Project goal and style, progress, stuff like that is fine to keep here, but much of the stuff I see in this thread doesn't seem to belong in a recruitment thread. At least going by what's been said before when recruitment threads become everything but.

You see that's what I thought. So I revert back to my original stance on the matter. We'll keep it to the project forum. I've just gotta remember to give people a link when they join.

5 tracks claimed. Come on, a cinematic music album, ppl! Even with the abundance of projects, this one needs more love. :D

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But I can be patient.

  9. Well, whether it is or not, this is a good opportunity to add one more thing to the guidelines. I'm holding to the OCReMix standard of no MIDI rips. Also, I think the mix needs to be original enough so that there's no doubt in anyone's mind that it is not a MIDI rip. So just something to keep in mind.

Also, giving him the benefit of the doubt, NeonGaming is on for the Tubba Blubba track.
