  1. I can understand why this synth would be off-putting to most, but I know this exact synth was lifted off a drum & bass track and I can't remember what it was called now...

BTW Rockos if you still want to collaborate, I have already actually tried remixing this CT track a while ago but never got it public. It feel that it's an overlooked track of CT surprisingly. Still drum & bass but it's different sounding enough from yours. Just don't know how long I can spend working on it... it's sweltering hot in my main computer room and I don't like staying there for long in this weather :<

K Do you have any way we can chat like skype and sends file.

  2. Hello Everyone,

I'm Ammature, and I've known about OCremix for a while now, but I finally decided to join the forums because I'm interested in making music as an artistic hobby. I really enjoy music without lyrics (lyrics in a lot of songs today are beyond terrible), and music that conveys a scene really well, like in music videos (I considered doing AMVs, but I'm not that into anime, and this is easier). Video game music fits that description perfectly. Sometimes I can compose an entire song in my mind to fit a particular mood, and I usually end up forgetting it. My hope is to get to a skill level where I can compose quickly enough to record my mental soundtrack before I forget it.

So right now, I'm trying to just use free software since I'm not too serious about this yet. I'm trying to learn how to use LMMS (Linux Multimedia Studio), and I have Audacity installed (although I never use it), so I'm hoping that I can make some decent quality music for my first few remix attempts.

After browsing the guide and etc, I still have a question to you "veteran"-ish people: How long does it typically take you to remix a song? From what I've read, you're using actual instruments and extra software and software plugins and it can take months to get a song made. For a lower-quality remix with just software, do you think it would take a long time to make a complete song? (long = > 2 months)

    Welcome to the OCR Comunnity!

To answer, it should take about 1 week rough for the song to be complete in length. But according to your mood and suggestion made it could go longer. Still this is only rough work. The polishing and extra layering and add-on are taking quite an extensive time to finish.

Myself, I could do a 3:00 song in a day. But it sounds 3:00 in a day!

Hope it is what you were seeking.

  3. NEat stuff!

But when the drum kicked in, the sample did not made much of interest. Your cymbal are too mechanic and low sampled. But otherwise the beat is awesome! I was toe tapping all the way!

Maybe the kick is a little weak. I'm not a real drummer so maybe someone could help you on this one.

OH and 5:00 and later is a little bit empty since it cut so fast!

KEep it up. Blaster master need some luv! One of my fav nes game evar!

  4. Ok got this work on for 2hour. I added some drum part, and added some transition. SFX were added.

And for the news! I got 2 songs in one. There is the full dub version which got the trancey part going through dubstep. This is the one worked on for the OCR.

    BUT

There is this version DOWNLOADABLE AND FULLY TRANCEY END. It's mixable.

Edit: Hope you love this borgman ;)

  5. The mix is pretty good so far.

The bass crushed is a little bit loud as it takes a big part of the room. Ohterwise, The snare could use more high pitch. Try layering. Especially high pitch snare, cutting the low ends. The stereo add is awesome.

At some place it's sparse a little bit.

Overall, I would correct the snare sound. It need to take a higher place in the soundscape. I would try to lower the effects on the bass or the volume itself a little little bit. Play with these to get the most out of this song.

I think too the kick could be layered to get a higher pitch too. Backup and play with it to see what you can come to.

Hope to see this polished and front page mix ;)

  6. Hey guys I'm bizcaus and I've just started messing around with remixing and edm production a few weeks ago and heard good things about this forum. Can never have to many resources to draw from right?

Right now I'm working on messing with synths and samples to get the sound I'm looking for but I'm hoping to start arranging and remixing some songs soon.

A good idea is to pit-stop to the workshop. I swear it is the best thing!
