Lol music production
-
Sometimes people even change between major/minor or other .. things.
Okay. Just for that, I might just have to make something modal for my next entry.
Dorian is always a good start.
-
Wait, why can't you just write phonetics? Wouldn't that be more intuitive?
I've actually encountered pronunciation problems by using Phonetics. Don't ask me why, but it sounds strange.
-
Oh. Just East West Quantum Leap's Symphonic Choirs. It comes with a 'wordbuilder' plugin.
That plugin allows you to write in the words which your choirs will emulate. Pretty cool stuff.
It has a few different styles of writing it in... and one of those is Votox.
Votox is pretty much universal and I goddamned love it, however it's a massive learning curve.
ie. To write 'To see through the Earth' would be 'TO SE T!r!O T!E (or T!u alternatively) UrT!'
Pretty complex stuff. But it's fun for me and kinda second nature now. Haha

Thanks for all the feedback bros.
It's the sort of track which I'd REALLY need live performers to push it through the roof.
I just... y'know, didn't have a spare choir in my house. Haha
-
N'awwwww. You guys are the best. <3 <3 <3
Mwah~!
-
Yeah. I'm kinda glad in a way that Hakstok didn't submit... because I'll have a chance of winning.
My track is SUPER niche so I don't know if everyone will like it.
-
if its going to be sheet music the musics better not be sheet
I totally lol'd.
Also, I'm uploading it now. Brandon will have it in less than 10 minutes.
I'm sweating like a motherhugger. I ran home faster than Sonic.
Also, it's a WAV accompanied by Sheet Music... soooo that could be better than y'all expected.
EDIT: Sub'd with 5 minutes to go.
brb heart attack

I'll be home soon. Is that still okay?
-
Sorry bros I'll hand mine in in the next half an hour. Time zones and birthday obligations have sucked. Plus I want to hand in sheet music. Fuck. Sorry.
-
If y'all need tracks for this, I'm happy to help out.
I'm not familiar with many games outside of what's already taken... so I may need help choosing a source tune... but whatevs.
-
Mang. I'd be so down for something like this.
I love me some Shonen Jump.

DiGi Sandwich™
This is one of the best things ever to have been said on this forum.
But yeah, excellent work bros. I even didn't mind that Tuberz kid's tracks.

I'm working on my mix... but in a way that I've not explored too heavily for VG ReMix territory.
-
Yeah. I don't understand all the theory hate.
Maybe because most of the people here are Aurally based...
I think it would be interesting to highlight the theory and WHY it sounds good.
That way people can feel clever in understanding their mixes, and actually apply theoretical ideas from an aural standpoint.
Y'know?
Plus, I know Gario is a freaking monster at Theory.
He was a Composition Major like myself and if you got people like us to do that, we could find a fun middle ground between Theory and Aural.
...
Now I sound pretentious. :/

[*]She Stole His Heart... Then His Wallet: Lead viola sounds pretty artificial, and really brings down an otherwise solid mix. Interesting in a good way twists on the melodies, right in that sweet spot where recognizable meets novel. I'm guessing this is Lenna multiclassing into "Treasure Hunter" rather than "Thief?" Good transitions between the low- and high-energy sections, much better than my attempts to do the same.
Thanks man. I tried my best!
But yeah, it's actually just a solo violin.
I should really learn to play the damned thing so I can record stuff like that easier.
That, or just talk to all of the Violin majors at my university to help me out.
The problem being that I'm FAR too arrogant to ask for help! Haha.
-
Or maybe something called "Source Breakdown" where someone with some music theory knowledge takes a look at some VGM track and does some critical analysis on it.
Man. I would LOVE to score study some VGM and put my theory to use.
I would love to see how abundant Neapolitan 6th chords are in VG composition.
Also, maybe rather than huge tutorials, you could have someone say their #1 mixing rule and compile them.
Or like, compare their beginnings with them currently to give motivation to the next wave of OCR contributors.
Just ideas, but yeah. I look forward to this.

Just about to sub mine.
Silly song names are the aim of my game people. <3

The status is I've been busier with my upcoming wedding and stuff than I thought I'd be, but I'm still keeping tabs on people and will post a check-in date soon.
The unfortunate part is that it's not Dustin and MYSELF getting married. :/
The good part is that this is gonna be freaking killer. <3

Orchestral with mostly strings and live guitar.
oh
I already started doing that.
Whatever, I'll just keep adding elements until it's a muddy piece of urinary tract infection.
Fun fact: I'm done arranging, and had a tonne of fun using some classical compositional methods... mainly fugue/counterpoint.

ReMixing video game music is for dumbfaces
There's no money in that
or whatever

Not sure how that even helps you. Aside from the challenge of figuring out what one "job class" Sazh, Basch, or Hiryuu have, you'll have to be plenty creative to decide what, for instance, "blue mage music" even is without it just being Strago's theme.
Also I will laugh very hard if you end up facing both Kain and Freya.
I really think it helps because it can give me direction when I have no inspiration from the melodic material.
Y'know?
Also, Sazh would be a Synergist. (can't say I'm wrong <3)
And I'd probably laugh too if I came up against both of them.
CAUSE IT WOULD MEAN I'D NEED TO WRITE TWOOOOOO BITCHIN' METAL TRACKS.
And I definitely have a sound tied to Blue Magic.
I don't mean to sound rude... but it's not like I devised my method to help anyone else.
Just sharing with the masses since that's sorta what we were doing presently.
I mean, you don't have to use it mang.
-
Looking forward to this compo guiz.
I'm gonna channel my inner cute-ness and sorta gave myself a way to determine my genre/style of each track.
Since Lenna follows FFV's job system, I'm gonna base the style on whatever 'job class' I come up against.
It'll save me from ever having to be creative in the history of ever lol. <3

Yo. Brandon, any chance you can set up a sheet of all the participants and their choices?
It'll help to keep track of where we sit in relation to others with out choices.
