  1. First and foremost I realize that La-Mulana is probably not a known game by many of you so I'll just add a bit of information about it:

La-Mulana is an indie 2D Action-Adventure Platformer made by a few chappies in japan that are collectively known as Nigoro and was created to emulate the graphics and interface of other games from the MSX. La-Mulana was then quite retro looking when it was originally released in 2005 for windows, it also featured a cadre of puzzles and a large set of imaginative levels and an interesting story which coupled with its rather unforgiving difficulty made for a long and memorable gameplay experience...although perhaps a bit too unforgiving at times as the puzzles were sometimes quite brainy and the environment quite lethal, I myself never actually managed to finish it.

In any case fast-forward to 2011 Nigoro ports La-Mulana to the Wii, improving its graphics, controls and finetuning the gameplay itself. They were hoping to release it overseas but unfortunately this fell through and was only really released in Japan...However earlier this year they dropped their Wii publisher and began porting the Wii version to the PC which is going to be released this friday.

There we're a bit catched up then, onto the reason for my creating this thread: The Soundtrack*.

*Due to its impending release I'll only be referring to the Wiiware/Pc port version of the soundtrack and not the original 2005 version

This soundtrack is incredible in my opinion, mixing in a good number of styles and instruments...I'll admit I'm not all that good at conveying the quality of music into words so I'd rather if you're so inclined to give it a listen for yourself lest I make it sound too drab (Disks 1 and 2 are primarily I'm speaking of, disk 3 are bonuses most of which are not found in-game).

Of note is that if there is sufficient interest to create an album out of this I personally will not be among the musicians as that is simply not one of my set of abilities at this time for one reason or another, I am however quite good at managing communities and deadlines I suppose.

Should there not be enough interest, ah well it was worth a try eh? :)

Can't say I've heard of it, but if it does get off the ground and anyone needs a vocalist, I'm available.

  2. A while ago, I posted a request for remixes of Ratchet & Clank because they weren't any on this site. Now I return with another plea of a game to remix: the Sly Cooper games. I mean, c'mon; film noire style music? How epic would that sound remixed! Here's a few tracks that would be awesome to mix:

Main title and credits (Sly 3):

    A Strange Reunion/Final Battle (Sly):

    High Class Heist (Sly):

    The Fire Down Below (Sly):

    Paris (Sly 2):

    Contessa Battle (Sly 2):

    Clock-la Battle (Sly 2):

Enjoy, and I hope to hear something from Sly soon!

  3. So more of a subtle reference to Industrial with a main fore front in Post Rock? :/

That's all I can think of right now.

Possibly. I'd need to hear a WIP to get a better understanding of what you had in mind. Maybe something like Rammstein's Ohne Dich or Ein Lied, if you want an Industrial reference. Even Spiel Mit Mir or Klavier. (Sorry, Rammstein is the only Industrial band I'm intimately familiar with)

  4. I'm feeling creepy as being a weird industrial-ish sound. Similar to Reptile by Nine Inch Nails.

Is this what you're thinking? I'd love to help if you want me on board.

Industrial is a good genre possibility, but definitely on the quieter side. I have this scene in my head of a trainer kneeling in front of a grave, and a ghost disguised as an old man comes up behind him and this is what he is saying to the trainer. Maybe a crescendo or accelerando near the end, but definitely on the subtle side until the "reveal."

  5. I think I' right in assuming that plenty of us here love the original pokemon games. Me too. So I ended up writing my own lyrics to the Lavender Town theme song. Unfortunately, the source material is not conducive to vocal accompaniment for obvious reasons, so I had the great idea to make a mix for the song!

    Then I remembered I can't compose.

So I'm posting here in the hopes that someone can help me out here. MangaMan is also on board. I really don't have a vision for the accompaniment other than it needs to sound creepy as hell to match my lyrics, so if you're interested, send me a PM and we can talk about mixing it up. The lyrics are as follows:

    Welcome, Welcome

    To the town of Sorrows

    Have you come to

    Say hello to old friends?

    Lavender, Lavender

    Such a lovely, sweet scent

    Wafts around us

    Comforting the ill heart

    Here they lie now

    Bodies rest below you

    Friends, companions

    Find eternal slumber

    Rain falls slowly

    Sky grows darker

    In the distance

    Stormclouds shed their cold tears

    Lavender, Lavender

    Such a gentle color

    Soothing, ghostly

    Color of the dead

    Here they rise now

    Say hello to old friends

    They have missed you

    Endless years of waiting

    Lavender, Lavender

    We won't be forgotten

    You will join us

    You'll always remember

  6. I admit that I'm (sadly) not familiar with the game series as I ought to be, so I don't know if the soundtrack is well suited for vocal work. If it is, I'd love to offer up my voice to any of the composers that would like it. Either way, you mentioned you were also looking for voice actors, which I can also do for you. If you need me to send in some work, just let me know what you need me to do, and where to send it.

  7. Those that don't have a song that they already working on, we need to get started on working on the lyrics. For these collab lyrics people will put in there own ideas and the group as a whole will work on the lyrics to that song. For the first song I'd like to focus on is the Clock Town song. First the lyrics to the 1st day we'll work on first...firstly.

The first day is the buzz of excitement for the upcoming festival, but at the same time a sense of foreboding as the towns people look at the ominous moon.

    Singers include:

    -The Carpenters:

They sing mostly about working to get the festival ready.

    -The Deku Shrub Salesman:

Basically sings about how he's sold all his wares and is just waiting for the festival. His wife has been bugging him about getting her a Moon's Tear.

    -The Postman:

His lyrics should be very repetitive, like a drum, singing about delivering mail.

    -Soldier's:

During the first part of the Musical, before Link get's his ocarina back, the soldier's sing about how they can't let Deku Link outside because it is too dangerous without a sword. They also feel uneasy about the moon.

    -Tingle:

Yes you are reading that right, Tingle gets a singing part...a very small one. Basically through the course of the Musical, Tingle will begin to sing about his maps and fairies...but then Tatl will steer Link away from him and the music will continue as if Tingle never sung at all. Basically a joke:razz:

Hm. Can't see why the soldier/postman/carpenters are important parts that need to be sung. Any info they have could just as easily be conveyed by the Bombers. The more unnecessary parts we cut out, the better the music will flow, as they'll be much more recognizable, rather than trying to follow which voice is which character. Props on the Tingle idea, though. Little fairy can go bugger himself. :3
