I didn't know what UTAU was, now I know why the lyrics sound fake...because they are.
I think you should definitely spice up those lyrics, which I'm sure you plan to.
-
First off, I don't like the lead synth, it's too distracting and becomes very grating rather quickly. Especially since it repeats over and over again throughout the song without much variety. The lyrics leave much to be desired, they are much too loud and are not interesting at all. They sound too mechanical maybe, sort of fake. This needs a lot of work.
I know the original piece is special to you, so I hope my comments don't strike a nerve. I'm new to remixing, so maybe other people can give more specific suggestions.

Amazing trailer! Another freakin' awesome album to look forward to!

Crash Bandicoot for PS1 is a great game for anybody young or old.

Preview sounds great, can't wait to hear the full album.

@ MikeViper: Would you be interested in working on a Banjo-Kazooie remix project? If you are, click here to see the details. Or click my signature.

Books, graphic novels. You could write me a short story. You can make me a picture, make a short song. Buy me a cheap video game.

First off, this is a good start. I like the lead synth that you use, and the bass is pretty good.
This is a cover, so if you're trying to make this remix for the site, you'll need to add some interpretation.
However, this mix has some glaring issues. Right off the bat, that noise at 0:03, again at 1:06, and towards the end, is way too deep and distracting, and lasts too long. The sample used at 0:23 until 0:28, and three more times during the song, is out of place and sounds bad.
Also, the drum line is much too bland, add some variety, the same is true for the bass.
Keep at it.

Very nice work, I can't wait to hear your update!

@Nonamer: Thanks! Looks good.

Who would be willing to actually make remixes for this project? I know we have support/interest in other ways (myself included), but are any of you posted remixers out there interested in working on this project? Would people want to focus solely on the first game, or does the current track list look good? Thoughts?

EDIT: Nija'd by Cash, and would you look at that--we said the same thing. xD
I guess I did.

This will be really useful once Kontakt 5 is delivered to me, thanks guys!

I don't think it's defeatist at all. The entire Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack is great, it would be a shame to exclude any level themes. I say it's a matter of covering the entirety of such an awesome soundtrack, rather than a matter of giving up.
EDIT: I personally feel you'd get more interest with just the first game, then again I don't know anything about the process of making/starting albums, so I'm probably wrong. Go with you're gut. As a music making newb I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'm still interested in your idea.

Now I can properly use Shreddage, which I bought a while ago not realizing it was for Kontakt.
-
Holy crap, this would be amazing. I'm all for this. I'll even help with organization. But I'd much rather this be solely a Banjo-Kazooie 1 album, and if it's a success, we can follow up with BT in later years. We can have a ReMix for each world theme, plus other tracks in the game (Nabnut's house, inside Mumbo's Skull, etc.) This has much potential. I think every track in BK should be addressed, rather than jam-packing the "best" tracks of the series in one album. Thoughts?
I agree, starting with just Banjo-Kazooie makes more sense to me. A much better chance at success.

If you get Kontakt and you need help setting it up in FL Studio (you don't just load it as a channel) just shoot me a PM or skype me at neblixsaber.
I might take you up on that offer, if it extends to everyone, as I'm sure it does. I installed the Kontakt 5 free version as a plugin a while ago, but not sure if I did it right. Once the full version shows up at my house, I'll probably PM you.

Hi!
I really enjoyed hearing this mix. I especially liked the way you handle Mining Melancholy, my favorite part of your remix.
The thing that bothers me is the kick, it feels way too intense and can be distracting at times. Also, a few of those pads sounded slightly too high.
As for mastering, I'm even more of a newb at it than you, so maybe someone else can give advice on that.

Your information in on the internet. The people here aren't going to mess with it,
I know, that's why I gave it out.
-
Now that I bought Kontakt 5 thanks to the awesome Thanksgiving half-off deal, this will be even more useful than it already has been.
-
Awesome! I've been wanting Kontakt 5 for a while now, but wasn't ready to pay $400. This is just the kind of deal I've been hoping for.

well, the whole thread is people giving out their address, so it's ok. we don't bite =) but a really well-done photoshop thing, or something mailed through amazon, or a steam gift card, are all good options.
I'm not really worried about anyone doing anything malicious with my info, I just get nervous about having my information on the interwebz. I suppose I might make an exception in this case.
Good to know those gift ideas.
edit: I did make an exception.

What's a CMS? I'm not familiar with the term.
-
Can it be gifts through the internet? I'm thinking something like a really cool looking Photoshop picture.
I'm not sure I want to give out my address.

Super nice! I love his take on this theme. I'm a big fan of his past work as well. Keep doing what you do, Anti-Syne!
