Unless I got the concept wrong, this Earthbound mix definitely belongs on the list.

I'll submit my ratings tonight. I think I'll give two or three 5's, a couple 4's and mainly 3's. Probably a 1 and a few 2's too.
-
i offered to sell them my domain. they ignored the offer.
I guess that was because they just want the domain removed, so if you change domain the problem would be fixed.
At least, you wouldn't lose your website with my suggestion
-
Since they seem so desperate to protect their brand, why don't you tell them to buy another domain (maybe using your real name) for you?
It'd be a semi-pacifical solution.
-
You could also wait for the entrants to all cast their vote, as I would expect the entrants to think their votes more than the rest (or you could expect them to make really unfair votes
).
-
I'm also surprised that nobody did Locke's theme.
The huge amount of "Gestahl Empire" mixes surprised me too, since it is an odd theme. New Continent being so popular was kind of expected.
Anyway, there are some pretty good ones, but way too many "techno"-ish mixes for my liking though.
I hope there is a chance to give/receive feedback, since it'd be interesting to listen to people's opinions on the remixes.
-
And I thought I'd be the only one doing 'Gestahl Empire'...
-
If you resume does it save what options you put in? Since all the mixes appear on one page, I'm not sure if it will save your choices.
-
This is my favourite of your FFVI arrangements.
I actually wanted to mix this theme too, but couldn't think of anything. This mix sounds great and has a nice atmosphere. I'm not familiar with the Star Trek theme but this has some airship/space kind of feel, so I guess you nailed it
-
Thanks for the input!
Yeah, I'd kill for a real guitar instead of the not very good free sample I used. I feel it isn't that bad, but a real guitar would make it sound really powerful. What's ShreddageX?
For the drums I had a similar issue, using free samples. Also, I made the mistake of mixing all the drums into one track, so using EQ to enhance bass drums/snare got a bit tricky. I tried separating them but Reaper started crashing so I dropped that idea
Lead you mean the guitar or synth one? I like the synth but it could be a bit more notorious, I have to learn how to make good leads with the VST I have... I liked the guitar lead but maybe the small bit of reverb I added makes it feel a bit distant.
Anyway, thanks again.
P.D. If any real guitarrist reads this and would like to aid me, just send me a PM!

Watching this thread makes me want to download this, but I started playing SC2 again so combining these 2 games would destroy my free time...
I should be on vacation (forever).

Lol the video makes me dizzy, is it sped-up?
I love that you used the original soundfont but isn't there an MP3 of this? Youtube's sound sucks.

Almost identical was a bit of an exaggeration, sorry
What I meant was that there are no alterations to the style and most of the melodies of the original song. Like I said, the orchestation is quite nice, and you create some subtle interesting moments and harmonies with some instruments, but the core of the arrangement is still very similar to the source. That's what I tried to say in my first comment.
The last minute has the most notorious innovations, which is why I highlighted it in my first post.

Finished version is up now!

Hope you like it. Any criticism is welcome.
-
Orchestation sounds good, but I think the arrangement is too conservative.
Not counting the end, it is almost identical to the source. The ending is a bit more interesting, though some parts are (maybe intentionally) dissonant.
-
Baroque would've been a fun idea, but I didn't think about it
Anyway, I updated the song (link in the OP: http://soundcloud.com/jnwake/royal-coin ):
- Changed the piano patch to a better sounding one.
- Added Contrabass to the song.
- Added a couple new sections.
I still haven't worked on humanization/adding effects, so it still sounds quite rough. I'm still not sure if I should add percussion or something like that. Comment if you can!
-
What is stereo separating?
-
You can release an album with these tracks
-
Chiptunes are neat but I honestly don't find them very exciting here.
The arrangement is quite conservative, really only adding drums, but it isn't bad. I'd suggest you to add some lower strings, since it sounds too empty with nothing playing low notes.
-
It is quite rough, but I have to say I loved the bass.
I think you should continue with this kind of funky/odd mood using the rest of the themes of the source. After all, the Tristam theme is quite long.
-
I love this mixes.
The last one is pretty amazing. The sounds picked are nice and create a quite tense atmosphere (even the one that sounds like an orc farting).
-
Sent my (re)submission. Good luck to everyone

This is a (mainly) 6/8 remix of 'Coin Song' mixed with 'Edgar and Sabin' (the castle theme).

Maybe I got it wrong but he said we were free of polishing our subs, which means the people that already sent their submission can send a new one if they want.
I even posted my entry in the WIP forum because of that

I like this project but I'm a bit confused about something.
You are using instruments to back-up the vocal parts or is this planned to be only voice?
In the first case, you plan on recruiting people for the instrumental sections?
