Mine was #7, a Gestahl remix.
-
Congrats to everybody!
I expected to do bad because of my suxxy production but I liked my arrangement so I thought I'd do a bit better. Oh well, there's time for more remixes in the future!
-
I got 2 mails too, a CONFIRMED one first and an UNCONFIRMED one today. I guess it was because I started a survey once and never finished it before doing a complete one.
-
Sure, just wanted to see if there is anything else I should work on before posting another version here!
EDIT: Moving it back to Finished and I'll post a new version soon.
-
Yeah, I noticed the timing issue, but I hoped it wouldn't be that noticeable. It's just a rendering glitch so it's easy to fix.
I guess I'll see what I can do to the 2:00 - 2:30 section, maybe more piano stuff would help as you suggest.
I'm happy with most of the piano's sound, but as you say, there are some sections that could use some tweaking (some of the fills I put on some chords sound a bit odd).
I am allowed to keep the Mod Review tag up so that I can get more mod opinions, right?
P.D. The CVPiano settings can be found
for anyone that's interested. CVPiano is a bit buggy though, so I recommend adding the VSTi when the track is ready to be rendered. -
I don't see why the opinion of the "majority" of gamers should be what guides your decision of buying a WiiU.
I bought a Wii when Smash. Bros came out and then bought other titles that were good. I guess I'll do something similar with Wii U, buy it when a game I really want comes out and then buy other titles. There's no need for so much drama.

Since Summer 2008, Nintendo published:
- The MotionPlus controller.
- Skyward Sword.
- Donkey Kong Country Returns.
- Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Bros. Wii, various Mario "party" games.
- Xenoblade.
- The Last Story.
- 2 Kirby games.
- Punch Out!
- Metroid: Other M and the Metroid Prime Trilogy set.
- Revised Pikmin 1 & 2 editions.
Not to mention both Brawl and Mario Kart were released in early 2008. That doesn't look bad to me.
-
Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean and I could understand that people may find it repetitive. To be honest it doesn't bother me but if the potential repetitiveness seems to be a flaw to more people I may add a third voice to that section.
Also, changing this to Mod Review.

I can't believe how much you people overthink this stuff. To me, it's like: good games -> buy; bad games -> don't buy.
It's impossible (and unnecesary) to make judgements to all of the console's hopes when we only know of like 10 announced titles.

I'd love to participate but I don't have any remix ideas and probably won't have time... But I may try anyway.
However, I wanted to share some songs that people could tackle:
: The theme is quite strange, but I can see awesome mixes coming from it.: More straightforward, but awesome anyway.: Pretty energetic. I've been trying to remix this one, but I can't come up with something that isn't too cover-ish.I only chose Smash. Bros themes since that OST is so underapreciated...

Gracias a todos por la oportunidad, fue un honor. Looking forward to seeing the results. I'm glad I got the chance to participate and I'm learning as I go. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single dubstep.
(6 years of Spanish and I'm sure that's wrong).

Check under "To be posted: Projects" in the Judge's Decisions thread
As soon as the ff1 ones go to the regular list, the FF2 ones will be all by their lonesome
"(2007/12/07) Super Mario 64 'Through the Flames'"
That makes me sad. What FF games are still missing an album? FF6, 9 are in the works and the TBP queue shows a FFX one.
No love for FFVIII?

I like the arrangement, and the second version has much better sounding rhytm guitars.
Some comments/suggestions:
- Is there a bass on this? It is either too low or non-existant which is bad because a solid bassline really helps a rock/metal song.
- The hi-hat sound is a bit too messy IMO. I find it quite distracting, try to make it a bit shorter. Bass drum sound is a bit too quiet and short too.
-
I barely know the source material, but the video sounded awesome.
There is one theme that appears in FF9 (Mount Gulug or something?) that is so amazing.
-
I can hope that someone thinks my track has potential or something.
(what the hell does this face mean lol)
EDIT: My vote was confirmed too.
-
As long as deadlines aren't too near, I could tackle Crystal Palace Crawl. If you want I can send you a WIP in a couple weeks.
-
I liked this!
Your use of orchestation is pretty cool. My only "criticism" is that the song is a bit too cover-ish, which isn't bad by any means unless you want to submit it to the site.
-
Uh, I think I'll wait until more lyrics progress is made to see which track I can tackle (after all, I guess the composer has to write the vocal parts too, right?).
However, some of my faves are the Middle Boss theme, Stone Tower Temple and the Final Hours theme. But I like almost the entire soundtrack so I'll just wait until the project is a bit more advanced to see what looks interesting!
-
Double post!
Finished the remix. I followed some instructions and managed to make CVPiano sound pretty.
I also added a few more sections. The ending is "original", following a chord progression similar to the intro's one.
Anyway, comments and feedback are very appreciated!
-
Cool. I'm not very experienced at producing but I think I handle composing decently, and I love MM's soundtrack, so I'd like to participate!
-
I like the overall feeling of the mix, it has the same forest-ish mood than the original.
I'm not very fond of the strings intro, it just sounds dull IMO. Maybe with pizzicato strings it would sound better. The song gets a lot better when the horn-like instrument comes in.
Part starting at 0:50 is beautiful, the pad adds a lot. The snare could use some tweaking to sound a bit better though. Also, I think a ride cymbal would sound better than the closed hi-hat.
All the rest of the arrangement is quite nice, though the volume is a bit too low. The piano could use a volume boost in the small section where it plays. You could work a bit on the mixing of some instruments that are too low.
-
Having 4 screens would be kind of awkward, so I guess they won't develop too much of a connection between the WiiU and the 3DS.
However, Smash Bros is coming to both WiiU and 3DS, so you never know.
-
I like this project but I'm a bit confused about something.
You are using instruments to back-up the vocal parts or is this planned to be only voice?
In the first case, you plan on recruiting people for the instrumental sections?
-
Unless I got the concept wrong, this Earthbound mix definitely belongs on the list.

Besides, you shouldn't quit music because a group of ~80 people don't like a remix you made. That's not the point of music.
