  1.
Hi, my name is Simon, I'm 29 and from Denmark. Some weeks ago, I contacted one of my favorite game creators and I asked if I should write his next story, he agreed. He liked it so much he wants to direct/produce. I asked for 200 dollars and a commitment from his side to hire 2 composers I recommend. However, the game will not be made if the Steam Direct-fee is too low. But the programmer and I are asking how much money you require for 30 minutes of fantasy-music? I don't think we can pay over 300 dollars, we are very indie. And a sample of your work, mate. The game is based on Irish mythology. Have you written music for a game before will also need to be answered.

We can also chat on Facebook later, is quicker.

    Best regards, Simon

  2. Me too, dude. This is a massive deal for me.

I remember a lifetime ago coming across Kate's version of Beatrix's Rose Of May theme and being blown away, finding OCR through that, then eventually this project.

Now, several years later, I get to appear alongside Kate and a few of my other remix heroes (Dan Floyd especially - can't wait to see what you've done dude!).

I hope it's all as good as I want it to be :)

I've seen posts like this before, and I simply don't understand it. Is the album a compilation album of year-old songs, or is it a new album with new songs?

Has Kate's version existed on OC Remix for a long time, or? :)

  3. I'm Simon, 27, I live in Denmark and enjoy artistic games, particularly the MGS-series and the FInal Fantasy-series, although my opinion is that Enix hasn't made anything useful since FFX. The recent great games I played are probably Hotline Miami 2, Walking Dead Season 2 and MGS: Ground Zeroes. I have also found out about the existence of the Tales-series in recent years. Grew up in Singapore to Danish parents, but moved to Denmark when I was 4. I have a pretty international family, many members of mine live all across the world, and I guess that's why I like the internationally different perspectives that games of great culture offer. I only buy games if they have a good storyline, so you can say I have an academic approach to this type of media.

Been listening to OC Remix all my life, so I just wanted to say thanks for all the great experiences. You can never get enough of emotional video game music. My favorite mix of all time is probably the continue/heal-remix from ICO. I would even go so far as to say it has been with me through so many things that this tune has defined a tiny part of me:

  4. Hotline Miami 1+2 has some of the most refreshing, inspiring and epic music out there, and my favorite track is "Dust" from the second game that has just been released. A fast electronica-remix of it would do nicely.

Other than that, I think that a mash-up between the title/main menu-theme and intro credits-theme from "The Wolf Among Us" could turn into something good. Electronica?

    And some other ideas:

Final Fantasy 10-2: Eternity: Memories of Lightwaves

Final Fantasy 10: Blitz Off, Attack, Brave Advancement

Final Fantasy 9: Cid's Theme, Mount Gulug, Burmecia, Freya's Theme, Unforgettable Face (a slight remix of Freya's Theme)

Final Fantasy 8: Find Your Way (maybe with a choir)

Electronica-remixes would be cool. Thank you!

  5. This track sounds so great. I like the combination of the feeling of serious adventure and on the other hand a sense of fun and laughter. The contrasts are very well done. A dark, epic electronica-remix, possibly with a choir, could be interesting:

Thank you! And now that I think of epic themes, the Half-Life 1-credits and the Warhead Storage-theme from Metal Gear Solid 1 also come to mind, electronica-remixes of those 2 tracks would also be cool.

  6. I believe that the Hitman-series has some of the best music out there, and the Harbor-theme from the original game is especially soothing, it sounds like something big is going to happen, and all you can do is hope and do your best. In my opinion the main part of the song first starts at 3:08. A standard electronica-remix would do.

And then it would be incredible to do a mash-up between the Harbor-theme and the Jungle Exploration-theme. For example, right after 2:20 at the Jungle-theme, you could switch to 3:08 with the Harbor-theme in some electronica-extravaganza. You could even speed up or slow down the themes. Be cautious not to use the inferior Dark Jungle-theme (which is actually just a slow/cut version of the Exploration-theme).

    Here is the Jungle Exploration-theme:

I hope I was not too confusing in my expression of my wishes/ideas.

There are other cool tracks on the list too, for example the Hong Kong-themes which sound very beautiful with a hint of darkness. Check them out, and thanks a lot!

  7. Ever since I completed the game roughly two years ago, this theme has been my favorite of all the games I've played in that time period. It's so relaxing, yet so dramatic, and it would be cool if someone made maybe an up-tempo remix with exotic instruments, maybe a little J-RPG-inspired? You can make your own decisions, I'm sure.

Because if you make it fast, you kinda replace the melancholy feel with other emotions like vigilance, humour and determination. It would sound very, very cool.

The theme is also called "Blood Dragon Theme Reprise" and "Title Theme". It is the one on the Press Start-screen, but it is NOT the main theme!

    Thanks a bunch!

  8. As another user said, RPGs are typically focused on narrative reflection where you put yourself in the characters' shoes. As a gamer who views himself as an academic, I tend to like genres, mostly RPGs, where you get a tiny amount of personal development in return for playing for hours and hours.

For example, there's a great scene in one of my favorite games (not gonna say which one due to spoilers) where the supporting heroine is killed by the villain, and the hero can't really do anything about it. It's quite anti-Hollywood. At first the character, and thus the player, is sad because you have build a (romantic) relationship with her, but you quickly learn to get over your grief and continue your quest - just like if something bad or similar happens in real life. I love when games can educate oneself in such a way, and it's almost only RPGs that can do such a thing because you get so attached to the characters, not only by leveling up, but also because of the storylines that are generally long and thought-provoking in RPGs and often so good that you read analyzes about them online.

Planescape Torment is a good example too of how a game can inspire your thinking about your own world.

    P.S. Greetings from Denmark;-)
