  1. Note for note with the original. Don't do that.

    NO

    Wow, that was quick.

The Surgeon General's Warning on Midi Ripping

The Surgeon General of the Public Health Service has issued the following warning on Midi Ripping:

Midi Ripping is a major public health problem in the United States. In the past 20 years, its use has increased 30-fold; it is estimated that more than a quarter of the American population rip off midis. The age at which persons first start to import midis into FL has decreased gradually to the junior high school years. Until recently, nearly 11% of high school seniors were culprits, and although that figure has declined to 7%, its daily use still exceeds that of drumloop abuse and pirating gigasamples. In a recent study, 32% of those surveyed had ripped midis from popular game tunes during the previous 30 days, while only 25% had tried to sequence the notes themselves.

Among the known or suspected chronic effects of Midi-Ripping are:

    • short-term memory impairment and slowness of learning.
decreased sperm count and sperm motility.
interference with ovulation and pre-natal development.
      impaired immune response.
possible adverse effects on heart function.

by-products of Midi-Ripping remaining in heart and soul for several weeks, with unknown consequences. The storage of these by-products increases the possiblilties for chronic, as well as residual, effects on performance, even after the acute reaction to the drug has worn off. Of special concern are the long-term developmental effects in

children and adolescents, who are particularly vulnerable to the method's behavioral and psychological effects. The "amotivational syndrome," characterized by a pattern of energy loss, diminished school performance, harmed parental relationships, and other behavorial disruptions, has been associated with prolonged Midi-Ripping by young persons. Although more research is required, recent national surveys report that 40% of heavy rippers experience some or all of those symptoms.

The Public Health Service concludes that Midi-Ripping has a broad range of psychological and biological effects, many of which are dangerous and harmful to health, and it supports the major conclusion of the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine.

  2. Since I researched it, I might as well review it.

Interesting way to turn 4/4 into 3/4. At first glance, sounded like another spc rip that bypassed the panel due to elements of ludicrous nostalgia and racial affinity, but such is not the case. This is quite an improvement over the original, with plenty of the good ole remix values: originality, improvisation, rearrangement, and sound quality.

    Should have been longer.

    Cool.

  3. Hehe, listened to this one a few times over. Very much like the style. Good arrangement skill.

    And then....

It takes what it has and repeats some 50 more times.

It can easily make one go insane without any procautions.

I could imagine this being used in quite an effective form of torture - tie someone down to a bed and repeat this in their ears for 3-4 hours. They'll tell you everything you want to know.

Seriously though. Go for more arrangement and less repeating. A key change or something. Please

    NO

  4. Yea, I know its better than Rob Saunder's version.

Nevertheless, its rather identical with the original.

Need more of a 'remix' and less of a 'genre change'.

There are some volume mastering issues. Around 1:20 and up, the lead is way loud and everything else is flooded out.

Work on the mastering and the arrangement quality. Also, go for a better ending. The ending is quite... bad.

    NO

  5. I have no issue with the use of vocals here. Its quite creatively done. Changeups are real nice. Lots of cool drumwork and arrangement. Lots of variation.

Issue I have is that most of the song is off key; Expecially the vocals in relation to the rest. Its hard to avoid when using vocals in this nature, I know. Still its a pretty big issue.

Please fix the key issues and resubmit.

    NO

    EDIT:

Changing my vote to a YES after careful reconsideration. It is apparent to me now (though the key issues are still very relevant) that there is really no way to pull off this kind of song with those vocals and not have any flaws. The chorus is singing in exact chords. To prevent key issues, the chords must always be matched about the vocals. This prevents Treth from doing much. He couldn't have done any of the stuff in this song for sure were he trying to keep the key.

To deny the talent and creativity of this mix based on sheer lack of ability is quite ridiculous, and not really fair.
