Okay! So, with the help of KyleJCrB we now have our own forum over at his site, where we can discuss the project more openly, and also post WIPs without the general public being able to listen in. This way, we can all help eachother out with tips, ideas and support.
blackguitar and Lashmush were already members on the forum so you guys already have access to the private forums, but the rest of you need to register there, and then PM me about it so that I can add you to the usergroup required for access.
Go register now!

You spelled Dhsu's handle wrong btw
Damn, I always get that wrong when searching for him in my iTunes as well.
Well, I fixed it now.
Which reminds me, I don't know what handles the non-posted remixers want to use in this project, so unless anyone tells me otherwise, I'll use the forum handles.

Please make sure you're sticking to this and not asking for WIPs or setting deadlines.
Yes, all I'm asking for is a sample so that they can be accepted into the project. I do this mostly by PM, and it's got to do with the recruitment.
I suggest you do what Hylian Lemon did with EoL and have the project thread in the remixes board. That could also get you some attention from ppl who don't frequent the recruit/collab forum. Either that or get a forum somewhere (or do both like HL did). KNGI is a good place as there are remixers there already, being or having been on other projects. Talk to Kyle about it. Then there's ThaSauce, has a forum, has remixers, and they've hosted project forums before, like sd3 back in the day.Yeah, I've been thinking about that, but I haven't known what forums I could use. Thanks! Could you link to those sites?

A message to all of you, I'm starting to get some WIPs, but they are a bit all over the place. I'd prefer if you send them via PM here on OCR, or send them to me over MSN if I'm online.
For those of you who haven't sent me a sample/WIP song yet, and are awaiting approval, you have about a week left.

This is better, now the speed feels more consistent. Still needs more arrangement though, as it's still very close to the source.

I agree that everything sounds awesome and badass in Swedish. Although, if it were to be spoken in Skånska, it would just be fucked up.
Also! The Seiken Densetsu series has already used Swedish in it! Legend of Mana had a Swedish theme song, remember?

Yes, this is to everyone interested in the project really (and I'll put it in the main post), for your participation to be accepted I either need to hear something you've done in the past (both WIPs and completed tracks are fine), and I'd like to hear your ideas on what you want to do with the source material. A short wip of the song for this project i also good, as that covers both those things. If there is enough potential, I'll sign you up.
I don't like saying no to people, but the project needs to hold a certain degree of quality, so that we can become an official album on OCR. But if you're new to the scene, don't fret, I don't need to hear anything amazing at first, just something with good potential. A good idea can take you far!
EDIT: I will sign you up primarily for a track, and you can be there for a maximum of two weeks, and in this time I need to hear something of your so that you can secure the place. Otherwise it will be up for grabs again.

I'd love to do Song of Storms with the Gerudo valley track.
Cool! I'll PM you.

Hey, this is great. Wonderful chillout, and it's for Majora's Mask! That game sure needs more love on OCR. Great job on this song.
Can't hear anything wrong with it, other than maybe that it is pretty much the same thing throughout the whole song, which might seem repetative to the judges panel, but I think that's alright when it's a chillout song. I know I'll be listening to it at least.
-
I find myself listening to this over and over, and I have never played anything in the Battle Network series, or heard anything of it's music. I think you'll have a great chance of getting YES's from the judges panel.

In the Russian ReMix Roulette, the links to the remixers don't work. They still link to the old structure, which just doesn't work anymore.
-
Wow, this sounds really great. I think it has a pretty good pace, but even faster might be even better. I'm looking forward to hearing this in its finished version!

Hmm...I would love to be a part of this. I just need to figure out what to mix with what, lol. I know i wanna use the cave/battle theme from Zelda 2 NES, but i'm not sure what i could mix that with that would sound good.
I will be updating the main post, with links to all the different ocarina songs, so that you can listen to them and then maybe have an easier time to decide.
The cave/battle theme is a great track, and there just has to be a fitting ocarina song for it.
Hey there, this sounds like an interesting concept for a remix project. As a fan of Zelda music, I wouldn't mind joining in.Great! Send me a PM if you want to claim a track.

You have some speed issues here, it's very uneven. Some parts are much slower than they should be, while a few notes here and there are sped up, and it just makes it feel out of sync. This could be a great mellow track, but you need to decide on a speed for it.
Have the background instruments slow and ambient, as you do now, but the foreground instruments like the violin and piano, should maybe be sped up a bit, but just a little bit, so that it all syncs.
Sorry I can't give you any timestamps, the player on the site you linked to didn't want to show me the time index of the song properly (could be my browser).
-
Ah, thank you. I have been looking for those rules, but I hadn't seen this forum category.
-
Thanks for the support! Well, at this stage you can mostly just spread the word. But if you think of anything you can do that might benefit the project, then send me a PM and we'll talk.

Hello everyone!
Hylian Melodies is a ReMix project aimed not at a single game in the series, but at the entire franchise. It does have a basis though, and that is in the different ocarina songs from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
The idea is that when a remixer has chosen a song they wish to use, they also have to pick a second or more songs (there is no limit, as long as you make the ocarina song apparent) of their own choosing, from the entire franchise, and then mix these together. They can use as much or as little of either the ocarina-song or the second song as they wish, as long as you can identify the ocarina-song in the track somehow. They can of course use more than one song to mix with the ocarina song. Also, if they can direct the mood of the song towards how the ocarina-song is, that would be great, but it's not a requirement.
Rules:
* If you want to sign up, then either write in this thread, or (preferably) send me a PM, with your idea
* Choose carefully when you choose your source material. You can only pick ONE Ocarina song, but as many other Zelda songs as you want, with a few exceptions of overly remixed tracks (such as Gerudo valley for example).
* In order to qualify for the project, there are some rules to the arrangement itself: When arranging them, it must be a proper arrangement. Placing the source materials next to each other in a medley with different instruments does NOT qualify as an arrangement.
* Your chosen tracks need to be apparent in the final product. The Ocarina song always needs to be recognizable, but it does not have to take the lead in the entire song if you don't want it to. The other tracks can be as much up front or in the background as you want.
* In order for me to know that you can stick to the rules, I need to hear something of your previous work. If possible, if you have anything where two or more tracks are being mixed together, I'd like to hear it. If you have been posted on OCReMix then I see that as a sign of quality, but I still need to hear your ideas for this project.
Here is the track list:
Song of Storms + Title screen (OoT) (Tuberz McGee)
+(Andy_Frank)+(Theophany)+ Sanctuary (LttP) (Aaron Marshall)+(Cerrax)++ Ice Cavern (OoT) (Phonetic Hero)+ No song selected yet (wildfire)++(Chernabogue)We could also have the ocarina/flute songs from A Link to the Past and even the first Zelda game, as bonus tracks for the album, if there is enough interest.

i know a guy who did that with tomb raider, he didn't turn off is PSX for month.
I actually did the same, when I first had a playstation but no memory card, but I did it with a rented Final Fantasy VII. I died on some boss though, on disc 2.
After that, I didn't rent any more games until I had a memory card.

I think even save points are for suckers. I demand that games go back to having no progress-saving method whatsoever but for passwords. The use of passwords is the mark of a REAL gamer. If it takes utterly random 30-character alphanumeric strings to pull it off, then so be it.
Otherwise it's not hardcore enough.
I say let's take it one step further back, and just have it so that if you turn off the power or reset the game, you have to start from the beginning of the game again. No passwords, no save files, nothing. Just beat it all in one sitting.

I was always a huge Megaman fan, and when my sister got me Bionic Commando for the NES, I loved it to pieces. Especially the music. I really liked BCR and even the big BC sequal, or whatever you might call it. I had been hoping for a new BC game ever since the first one. I find it strange that Capcom dropped that series so fast back then...

Mega man 2 for NES. It was at a smaller event, but everyone else went to eat at first, but I was going to eat later, so I sat down by one of the game consoles and started playing Mega man 2, to see if I could still beat it fast. After a while, people draw nearer and ate while watching me play, and ended up being maybe 20 people watching me beat it in about 45 minutes.

I must say I like the trailer for the new game. And about having Daniel Licht as the music director, I can't help but being downright excited about it. He made the great, and eerie, music for Dexter and I'm guessing he did the music in the trailer as well, so that just makes me even more excited.
I thought Homecoming was okay, but I hope this one improves upon the most lacking detail in Homecoming: the locations. They were mostly repetative and boring, no real soul to them. Not like the Prison in SH2, or the asylum in SH: Origins.
Also, isn't it yet another new company developing this game? Or is it the same team as in Homecoming?

If you can show me some sample of your singing, I can add you to the main thread as a possible vocals collab, if anyone's interested. PM me about it!
