  1. I'm thinking about buying Emerald to be ready for Diamond/Pearl, and I like the idea of being able to transfer pokemon into the game even though you have to go to the Safari Zone to get em heh.

    Think it'd be worth it?

  2. But how many half-ass failures will we see developed by 3rd parties?

Instead of looking at it with a negative side, what if the 3rd parties actually made titles that are pretty successful with the controller?

I'm sure there will be! My point was that I think Nintendo will lose some of the third parties this way. Let's say Company A has an idea for a game. Say, a katamari type game. They can't seem to integrate the Wii controller into the game very well. Are they going to put their effort into trying to release it for the Wii when the controller presents a challenge or are they going to go the "safe" way and release it for PS3/360 with improved graphics? Since the PS3 and 360 have similar amounts of power, I'm betting we'll see a lot of cross-platform games for the two, with the Wii developed for exlusively due to it's somewhat limited power and unique controller. Now as anti-Nintendo as I may sound at times, I'd LOVE to play some truly welldone 3rd party Wii titles. I can imagine it breathing fresh air into a lot of genres like 3rd person shooters, flight sims, RTSs, etc. But I'm afraid a lot of 3rd parties won't be willing to take the risk and we'll be left with a lot of excellent 1st party titles for the Wii and a few 3rd party gems here and there.

Getting way off topic here, but I guess it can't be helped!

Ah ok, I thought you were just assuming every 3rd party game would fail :P haha

But ok, isn't GTA going to be on the Wii? I think I read that somewhere, but if I'm wrong someone correct me. I guess the wiimote could be used as a bat to beat down people. That'd probably be a successful game. I know Jack Thompson would love that :P

But anyway, I even saw the PS3 on TV about the shortages. I guess people are really making this out to be a huge deal :P

Also, is Japan still the only ones being said to be getting a reduced price for the cheaper ps3?

  3. As far as the tilt sensor on the PS3, I'm perhaps the only one who is looking forward to it a bit. Yeah, it was tacked on pretty last minute, and they weren't prepared to show it off very well at E3, but by the time the system is released it should be able to do what you'd expect it to do.

I don't get why so many people are against it. The ONLY reason that people talk badly about the tilt functions is because they are pissed that Sony "copied" Nintendo, even though the controller is completely different. One is a wand, one is a pad with tilt functions. When it Wii remote was announced everyone was all like, "OOOOO COOL NEAT-O MOVE MY HAND AND WOWZERS!!" then when Sony mentioned the PS3 controller can do motion detecting stuff everyone was all "PMG $ONY DOES IT AGAIN *SPUTTER* *RAGE*". Personally I'm not sold on the motion sensing thing. I think it's a gimmick that will get old, like the stylus on DS. But I like the route Sony is taking with their controller. The tilt functions can be used by developers if they choose, to enhance APPROPRIATE games. For instance, you might have tilt functionality on a flight sim or a golf game. Or it could be a little part of the control, like in a platformer such as Spyro the Dragon. You use the main controls 90% of the time, but for those flying parts you use the tilt. With the Wii, you're going to use that remote no watter WHAT. Developers will have to force the remote functionalty into where it's not really necessary or even fun. Sure first party titles and some other releases will use it really well. But how many half-ass failures will we see developed by 3rd parties? How many will they be willing to risk, when they could make a 360/PS3 cross platform game with a large consumer base?

Sure the PS3 controller is not that innovative, but it is the most VERSATILE of the three consoles. And considering the wide array of games the PS3 will have for it, that makes the most sense.

Imagine what people would think if the PS3 revealed their tilt-controller first before Nintendo's. I wonder if people would treat Nintendo the same as they are treating Sony right now.

And what did Kak get banned for? lol

  4. You know, the DS cases are almost perfectly sized to hold game cards. See for yourelf. Grab a DS case, and open it ip. Take all the stuff out. Now, slide a card underneath the little tabs on the left side of the left half. Place a few more to the right and a few down the side. It fits nine cards. If you could move the plastic ridge on the left over a bit (or even get rid of it altogether), you could fit nine in with enough room to be able to take them out.

Repeat for the other side. That's eighteen games in one flat, durable container. If there was a case that did this, or even a decent mod, I'll use it. I expect my DS collection to grow enough in the next while to need something like that.

I use these for my game cases :P

Wow, you own Sprung? You must REALLY be committed to the DS. (ha ha, j/k)

Haha, well back in the day when the DS first came out, there weren't that many great games out :P Mario was sold out, so I got Sprung... what an experience. lol

  6. Anyone know of a really good DS Lite carrying case?

    Bam

I own one; it's wonderful. Soft and fuzzy on the inside, hard and tough on the outside, plus it fits games OR a GBA.

    Cool, thanks.

Anyone know of a really good DS Lite carrying case?

    a pocket.

That's what I use now :P I don't want to risk banging up against a desk at school or something.

  7. I heard that those kiosks are not even demos, they are just playing looped PS3 videos. I guess it's still nice, better have some sort of presence in the retail front.

Good point. I don't see any controllers.

  8. I'm taking the same course as well. It's essentially High Shcool Precalculus. We covered polynomial functions, complex numbers, and other sorts of related material for our first section which we were just tested on last week. For the second section we're starting now, we're going into graphical representation and functions of the previous material.

Granted, I haven't had a serious math course since my sophmore year in high school, but of the courses I'm in now, MAT 111 is my biggest concern. So far, I've managed to already enormously screw up in the class already (I got a 49% on the aforementioned test, but that's mostly because I barely touched the homework and didn't study), however, I would hesitate to say the course is difficult. After speaking with my professor, he advised me to work on extra problems in my studies to understand the types of questions on the exams better.

Damn, you beat me by 2% on the first test :P I just didn't study as hard as I should have. I made stupid mistakes like thinking 7-(-5)=14 haha. What the fuck was wrong with me? I also left a few questions that were so easy after going over the test the next class. I just totally forgot how to do them.

Basically, I suck at test taking.

  9. Definitely get out if you feel like you don't belong. Have you guys had a first test yet in class? You might want to wait until then before you decide upon getting out of it or not. I'm in ma111 too btw heh.

  10. Anyway, I'm still playing some more Mystery Dungeon. I wish they'd program the pokemon to be smarter. If your out of PP, don't try to use that move! If the enemy is already asleep/leech seeded/paralyzed/etc, then don't try that move again!

Find gummies and give them to your pokemon it'll increase their IQ and sometimes they learn a new IQ ability, thers abilities that can check for status effects or ammount of PP (actualy I'm sure you already have PP checker or its one of the first abilities you'll get from a gummy). There's many other IQ abitlities too, I've recently gotten one that makes the pokemon dodge more often.

Oh, duh. I forgot about PP checker.

  11. The eyeball is for the money shot right?

    j/k

I hope in Diamond/Pearl they adopt the way they did when learning a new move. When you learn a new move, it'll tell you what it does in a description so you know whether or not to ditch it or learn it. Did they do this in Ruby/Saph? I don't remember.

  12. From what little I tried with the "good" emulator, you use the arrow keys. But the thing was buggy as hell, and only a few of the ROMs actually loaded. I think DS emulation is still a long ways off.

And no, I don't have an emulator or any ROMs, nor will I tell anyone, on here or via Private Messages, where to get either. Just buy the damn games, alright?

Trust me, I don't really care for ROMs :P The last time I played ROMs is when I traded my old video card to my friend for his PSP that had ROMs already on it. I later sold the PSP to another friend heh.

    Plus, I like collecting. :P

  13. The little menu screens in the beginning of Mystery Dungeon are so cool lol. I like the one of Squirtle finding mail in the mailbox with Pikachu next to him. If anyone can find those on the internets that'd be wonderful.

It's filled with annoying talk, but here it is.

Well, I meant like screenshots(rips) or whatever, but ah well :P

  15. Kinda bored with Mystery Dungeon. There's really no reason this game needed any Pokemon in it. Great for killing time in lines and stuff though.

Too bad it takes like an hour to save :?

If anything, it's made me extremely amped for Diamond/Pearl.

    You knew about quicksave right?

And yes, this is hyping me up for Diamond/Pearl.

  16. Mystery Dungeon is pretty fun. I'm only on the 2nd dungeon, but it's pretty fun so far. I like how you can speed up your movement so you won't go crazy if you missed a little area all the way at the other end of the map haha.

  17. So I did some investigating. A while back someone had a problem with plastic being loose by the GBA slot right? And as did I. Well, my black DS Lite has the same problem. Well, it's not a problem because every DS Lite is like that.

At work I work in the back, and I send off returns back to the vendor. There were 2 white DS Lites(one was nasty, ick, the kid probably never washed his hands). I checked the plastic above the GBA slot and the plastic was able to be pulled back on both.

I think I saw some site listing this as a defect when it's just supposed to be like that.

Just felt like throwing that out :P I think I'll buy Blue Rescue Team tonight since we still haven't gotten any Megaman ZX in.
