  1. Sa-weet. What years are they?

Nothing too special.. '82 Berlinetta, '87 Z28, and '91 RS. I'm probably gonna pick up a third generation one myself in the next couple years.

The Berlinetta has a 350 from an El Camino in it, very good condition for its age.. the Z28 is in the worst condition.. paint/body is bad in quite a few spots.. needs a tune up real bad. The RS is in the best condition.. almost flawless.

Oh yea and we have an '85 Firebird Trans Am, too.. heh.. we like muscle cars :P

  2. Sounds like you may need to reset the BIOS. You would need to find a manual for your motherboard, or find something online with the info.

It's pretty simple, they are just reset by a jumper on the motherboard. The location of the jumper varies by motherboard, which is why you need the manual with the location. Some newer motherboards, however, have a BIOS reset button, which is easily spotted by looking at the motherboard.

  3. You definitely don't need a tube amplifier to achieve that effect. Even a cheap distortion pedal / distortion channel amplifier can do that... I have a lot of distortion pedals and multieffect boards which all pull this off just fine. Just be aware that the higher the pre-gain on the distortion channel, the lower your guitar output volume will have to be. So, low gain means better control but less max gain for instance.

Yea.. but it's so fun doing that with tube amps. A good tube amp will respond to your picking dynamics extremely well.. turn the volume knob down and play softly for a cleaner tone, but dig in deep and you still get the good creamy dirt!

  4. Just to add my 5 cents... I've been playing a lot of different electric guitars for around 10 years, and although I used to hate them, the best all round guitar is probably the good old Fender Stratocaster. I have a telecaster myself, which is a bit more twangy in the tone, but also very good allround. The strat is great for everything though... right from clean rockabilly, to clean / drive jazz, to rhythm metal or screaming heavy metal solos.

Personally I'd pick a Tele over a Strat any day for an "all around" guitar.

Rule of thumb is, the thinner the strings, the easier they are to play. Slightly less sustain than thicker strings though, but nothing to be worried about. The reason it's good to stay with one particular gauge per guitar is that a non-fixed bridge will be heavily affected... a floating bridge like the Floyd Rose tremolo system will take an hour to adjust to a new string gauge, I'm not kidding.

If strings are stretched properly before being put on the guitar there should be no tuning problems, provided the guitar itself is setup properly. A setup is definitely required with using a new gauge with a Floyd Rose equipped guitar.

  5. Starla (injury) and Hazama were married I believe back in 2002. (They met in the #ocremix IRC Channel. Imagine that.). I recently heard rumors on the internets that they've broken up... :/

Starla herself confirmed a few days ago, in #ocremix, that her and Haz broke up.

  6. I think St. Anger would have been enjoyable if the drums didn't sound like ass and they didn't cut out the solos (which I'm not sure of, but i've heard numerous times).

But, this is reality, and I just didn't dig it.

They never recorded solos.. Kirk was interviewed as saying they tried to go back and overdub solos into the songs, but they just didn't work with the way the songs were written.

As for the topic.. Metallica was one of the first bands I really got in to, so I would have to go with them. Megadeth definitely still rocks though.

  7. ESP also makes some excellent guitars for their price, especially the EC-400.

Two months ago they were $600+, but a price drop has put them into a very affordable price range!

I would suggest the models with the Duncans over the EMGs, since you're trying to play multiple styles. Many players don't find EMGs as versatile as other passive pickups.

  8. First off i dont know much about computers nor its hardware

And the point of this thread. Im trying to install World of Warcraft on my computer but currently I have 792 MHZ and i need 800 to run it. So the questions are:

    1) Is there anyway i can increase my laptops MHZ without having to buy a larger processor (which probably cant be done..)?

    2) Where i could get a cheap processor

    3) how do you install it into a laptop

    Thanks ahead

If your PC is telling you you have 792 MHz then it's probably an 800 MHz processor.

    1) You can overclock, but that largely depends on processor, laptop manufacturer, etc

    2) Anywhere

    3) You don't

  9. Our class put up a big tank (think a big, thin plastic pool, about a foot high and taking up about 50 square feet) filled with a few hundred goldfish (presumably one for every graduating senior) just in front of the school. Officials did nothing about it, and no one fed the fish, in the dead heat of late spring in northern Virginia. So, of course, all the fish died. So what did we do?

We made it a memorial for all the dead fish. They were all given names, and a large banner was placed under the tank (the tank was clear) for everyone to read.

I heard school officials were not pleased, but it is hardly the worst thing any students there did (though that doesn't really say much because my school saw very few real problems amongst the students).

    What school was that at?

  10. Also, I've noticed random folders in my C:/Windows folder. Like "Uninstall$3897" or something like that, and they're hidden with blue text. Can I delete those?

Those folders contain all of the files that had been replaced during Windows updates. If you go to Add/Remove programs you will notice, at the bottom of the list, every Windows update you've ever done. You can "remove" the updates. By deleting those folders you lose the ability to remove the updates. If that doesn't bother you then there's no problem deleting them.

As already mentioned, backup anything worthwhile and reformat/use your recovery CD.

  11. After checking the thread on which you listed the specs of your new PC.. it seems the reason why you only have two PCI slots is that you got an SLI motherboard. There's naturally less space on a motherboard if there's two PCI-E slots.

Do you plan on ever using SLI? You may have to buy another motherboard to gain yourself some PCI slots, if you can even find one.

  12. I know little about Queensryche, but they have their Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II. The first is supposed to be better from what I've read.

    Wikipedia says:

Operation: Mindcrime is Queensrÿche's third full-length album, which was released on May 3, 1988. It is a concept album about a man becoming disillusioned with American society, and joining in a conspiratorial plot to assassinate its corrupt leaders, with spoken dialogue between songs that advances the story and ties the songs together.
