  1. This has probably been posted already. I know it was posted about the PSP, but I dunno if it included this info.

So I'm just throwing this out here.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 confirmed for the DS.

This makes me smile. Tactics full revival? Hell yes.

Not hell yes. The man who created the Tactics series, Yasumi Matsuno, has left Square. Now his work is going to be handed over to someone else.

If people thought FFTA didn't hold a candle to FFT, the difference between FFTA and FFTA2, I'd wager to bet, will be staggeringly awful.

  2. *dials phone*

    Me: Hey sup Mr Miyamoto

    Miyamoto: Sup d00d

    Me: People want Pikmin DS

    Miyamoto: Sure thing, sounds good

Me: Awesome, see it on the shelves in 12 months?

    Miyamoto: Make it 18.

    Me: Done.

    QF fucking T

  3. So maybe in March when Phantom Hourglass comes out Nintendo will surprise us again with a preorder bundle since hey, it'll be Zelda's 20th birthday as well.

More importantly, they better make this game feel different (other than the touch screen control; I want new concepts introduced). Minish Cap burned me out on Zelda because I felt like I played the same damned game for the umpteenth time.

What the hell do you want?

    A FPS?

    A RTS?

I mean, its zelda, if would not be zelda if there were no dungeons and items. What the hell do you want ? A flower aranging game?

I'm not paying money to play another Zelda game that progresses town-dungone-town-dungeon for the duration of the flimsy story. I've found the hookshot, and the boomerang, and pieces of heart, and the Triforce, and the Master Sword or some permutation thereof in every single Zelda game I've ever played. I'm just really sick of it.

So unless they've done something to change the classic formula, I think I'll end up passing.

  5. I'm trying to do the marks as I go, as opposed to waiting till the end and just totally obliterating most of the marks. It is amazing in FF12 how long you can do shit that doesn't advance the plot whatsoever and still have fun.

I reached the 40 hour mark last night and still haven't been to Archades.

  6. Since I can't play Wii yet...I really have to recommend Bomberman Land Touch. So many great mini-games plus online classic Bomberman ftw.

    CLASSIC ONLINE BOMBERMAN!? 8O

Up to 8 players, no less.

Picked up EBA and Yoshi's Island. Former is awesome all over, latter is killed by bad music.

I was rather disappointed in both of them.

  7. Children of Mana = I'm trying this next

It's an enjoyable little dungeon-hack in the vein of say, PSO or Diablo. It's on the easy side, though, and the fun factor goes way down unless you have someone else to play it with.

Still, not regretting I bought it. It's got killer music and the signature pastel Mana art direction.

  8. For anyone who knows:

I just traveled through the Sandsea (first time) with characters aroudn level 12. I think I'm underpowered cause I'm just running my ass off trying to progress through the game without losing characters. I just got raise but I want the gambit to use it. I'm at the boss at the tomb with these Level 12 characters...should I level everyone up? It's gotten to the point where I just wanna make sure that Vossler is okay and my party is just healing.

Uh, yeah. You're gonna get raped by that boss. Get your guys to at least level 15 or so.

  9. Yeah, I agree. I loooove the music and the way the game looks, but it's most definitely a button masher. Your character is VERY dumb too. It's like every time someone says something, you'll respond with what that person just said but in a question, lol.

Who are you using? I started off with Poppen, got to level 16, and then realised that he's totally worthless. Magic is pretty useless in this game because the spells take so long to cast, and his physical attacking absolutely blew. We got to the desert boss, and you have to use the bow to hit him, and I was the only one who had a bow, and I did one damage to him with every arrow. Last night I decided I would use Ferrik instead.

  10. So I picked up Children of Mana this weekend; got one copy for me and one copy for my girlfriend. We played like 6 hours straight, and I can definitely see how this would get very old, very fast in single-player mode.

But I must say, if you've got two or more people playing together, it's an absolute blast. It's a button-mashing dungeon-crawler, period. It's also got some design flaws (for example, all the quests are pretty much the same: clear dungeon of enemies to complete the quest) and magic is pretty much useless so far (which eliminates being the magic-based character).

Still, it's got that PSO-style addictiveness to it in that it's kind of a crappy game at heart, but so much fun to play and impossible to put down, given you have friends who also own it. I can't recommend it, but under the right circumstances, there is enjoyment to be had here.

    Music is also very kickass.

  11. Does it even matter if the worlds are connected in any superficial way though? I'm nearly through with the story and the entire backstory is just yawn-inducing. Does RPG backgrounds have to read like a boring textbook in order for it to be "mature"?

They can't all be super-kawaii anime shit stories. Go play Tales of whatever if you want that crap.

  12. I hear often that people say or think that FFXII takes place far before FFT and FFTA.

Where's that theory coming from? I'm just curious.

Please, for the sake of mankind, no inter-game time line threads.

If anyone is to blame, it's Matsuno himself, who included all of the similar names of places, characters, and coincidences of the story events when he wrote the script.

  13. I have a question about Deep Labyrinth. What are your people's opinion on it? I bought it (used) about a week ago, and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it. So far, I think it's pretty good. Though, it is a little repetitive, and the campaign/mission (of the 2) I'm playing is definitely too easy... While I appreciate the prominent save spots (I only have time to play for short bits. 10-15 minutes at a time), being able to fully heal yourself from almost anywhere removes much of the challenge. I've played for 2+ hours on it. It's certainly not your standard RPG, but it is an interesting variation.

Anyway, to sum it up, I'm wondering on people's opinions here, and if it's worth my $20 to keep it (personally, so far, I think it is, but I'm wondering what the future of this game holds in store. If the rest of the game is basically identical to my first 2 hours, is it still worth it?). Or, is there something on a similar vein that's better and more worth my money?

Another question I have is, game recommendations for games that are heavily based in exploration (I think this may be why Deep Laby interests me). I could probably be quite happy in a game with no plot whatsoever, as long as the world was big enough that I could just keep walking around, and find new things to look for (scenery, plants, places, things, animals, whatever).

So, any help on that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for anything anyone has to offer. Mouser X over.

Bought Deep Labyrinth the day it came out. Loved it; spent close to 20 hours playing both scnearios. While it never gets hard, per se, it will get a bit more difficult the further you play. And Chapter 2 is harder than Chapter 1 (I've actually died in Ch. 2).

Remember you're only 2 hours in. The mazes get way more complex as you play (the very last area of Chapter 1 actually took a long time to get through totally, several hours if I recall correctly).

But yeah, it's an easy game, on the whole.

  14. It's taken me a few days, but I'm starting to really see that I need to specialize my characters if I'm going to use the license system correctly. I think I'll go make some people behave like the old FF classes or something. Basch seems like a likely candidate for Paladin.

Yeah, I'm doing that, too. I've got Penelo and Balthier my quick, light armor fighters, I have Fran and Ashe as my magic users, and Vaan and Basch are my tanks.

Eventually everyone will know everything, but that's why equipment choice is so important. If you want someone to be a really good mage, they need to have the magick armor, and if you want someone to be a really good tank, they need heavy armor.

  15. --there is no way to tell ALL of the stats of equipment in shops. All it tells you is what the magic resistance and defense is.

Heavy Armor sets: ups defense and attack power

Light armor sets: ups defense and evade

Magick armor sets (robes and hats): ups defense and magick power

It allows character customization since everyone's license grid is the same.

  16. I don't exactly understand what you mean by 'canon' in this case. The majority of FF games take place in what seems like completely separate worlds than one another. I would understand if they were all linked by something more than chocobos' date=' moogles, and Cids, but that isn't the case. Even FFXII is in it's own separate world; it's not quite FFT or FFTA's worlds. Even though they're all called Ivalice, they all have their differences.[/quote']

Matsuno loves injecting phantoms of continuity into his works. He did it with the Ogre Battle games, and he did it again with FFT, FFTA, and FF12. Also, if you've played Vagrant Story, FF12 contains some mild references to that game as well, and it's not even a Final Fantasy title.
