  1. Now what's the deal with Touch Detective?

The main character is followed around by this?

    LOL.

What's the deal? It's going to be a super awesome touch-based adventure game with a wicked sweet localization and very funny moments. BUY IT.

  2. They'll both be solid, can't we agree on that?

Sure. Personally, I would rather have a brand new Mana adventure that features SNES gameplay with 4 player wireless multiplayer than a remake of a 17 year-old single-player RPG.

But I'm sure both games will be of high presentational quality.

  3. Is anyone else looking forward to Final Fantasy III? I'm not much of a FF guy, but the screenshots look amazing and I'm excited about the gameplay.

    Your excited about the gameplay?

You mean the gameplay that was the only part of that game that wasn't changed during the remake? The gameplay that was the same 17 years ago when the game came out as it will be on November 14?

Uh, no thanks. I'll stick with Contact.

  4. If I get a DS soon, I plan to get these games (if funds would come through):

    New Super Mario Bros.

    Sonic Rush

    Mario Kart (obviously)

    Metroid Prime: Hunters

    Castlevania games (maybe)

and probably a shitload of others...DS has a lot of fucking GREAT games!! I don't know what to get!!

Skip Sonic Rush unless you're a hardcore Sonic fan. It's a good game, but it has some poor design choices.

If you like challenge, check out Trauma Center: Under the Knife.

If you like puzzlers, Tetris, Meteos, and possibly Konductra are all must-haves.

If you like first-person action RPG dungeon crawls, check out Deep Labyrinth.

If you like quirky, off-the-wall RPGs, check out Contact come October.

If you like puzzle-solving adventure games, check out Trace Memory, Touch Detective (October 10), and Hotel Dusk (Winter).

If you want some more unusual gaming experiences, check out Electroplankton (love it or hate it software, but I love it), Brain Age, or Nintendogs.

If you like strategy, Advance Wars.

  5. Get FREEDOM WINGS, bitches!

If you need a flight game for DS, get it. And by get it I mean buy it. It's a combination of flight sim and action rpg and the controls are excellent. Only $20, too.

Tell your parents, "Buy me Freedom Wings or go to Hell!"

    That is all. :D

Could you elaborate? I was kind of interested in it, but it's not getting very good review scores, and I'd like a hands-on impression from someone.

  6. I imported the Japanese version. It doesn't really suck.

The controls feel intuitive to me (moreso than Star Fox Assault did). Though it would have been nice touse the buttons for a couple of things, such as boost and brake.

The story is so dependant on your choices that I can't really put an overall opinion to it, but I do not like some of the endings.

It could use more variety, yes, but it is still fun.

But, because I am a big Star Fox Fanatic, my opinion will be dismissed as biased so I don't even know why I bother stating it.

YOU'RE BIASED. WHY DID YOU EVEN BOTHER STATING YOUR OPINION?

  7. Here's what I see happening: Starfox Command getting inflated reviews when it's not that good and Deep Labyrinth getting bad reviews when it's actually pretty sweet.

I understand the reliance on reviews, but you're kind of cheating yourself out of a good game based on arbitrary scores. Might I recommend borrowing Deep Labyrinth from someone to give it a try and see if you like it?

I like how 2 reviews counts as inflated for Starfox Command :P

Btw, I'm guessing that you're a contract employee no? Most testers are, so...

I don't work for them anymore, so no, no longer a contract employee. And guess what? I'm still enjoying Deep Labyrinth!

Starfox Command is absolute crap. I've played it. For enough time to know that it sucks. But have fun with it. Most gamers are masochists (just look at the popularity of Final Fantasy 7).

  8. Has Contact been delayed or something? The Atlus site has a banner that says coming out in October 2006, but the Contact page has it coming out next month...

Hmm, that's interesting. I think I know why, if it's true, but I'm afraid I'm not allowed to say.

Although it does help my wallet if it's delayed.

  9. I'll skip Deep Labyrinth. The reviews have been a turn off, besides it looks a lot like the Elder Scrolls series and for that I have... the elder scrolls series :?

By the way, Starfox command is almost out people. Who's gonna get it? I won't, UE's told me not to. But I will ignore him if reviews sing it high praise. I confess, reviews mean a lot to me, especially Gamespot's and Gamespy's as a confirmation. I've found that my opinion has been more or less the same as the GS reviewer's ones. No harm to you UE or anything about the SFC thing haha.

  10. Deep Labyrinth is awesome. I'm having a lot of fun with it. The reviews truly don't do the game justice. Sure it has its flaws, and you can tell it's a port of a cell phone game, but in the same way PSO had its flaws, Deep Labyrinth is addicting as hell (just like PSO).

The touch screen functionality is great, and I really love drawing spell characters in order to cast. It's pretty awesome. Sure there are some things that aren't so great (like the ease of the first chapter), btu overall, I would recommend it. I like it a lot. Great dungeon romp.

Oh yeah and the music by Mr. Mitsuda is fantastic.

  11. omfg double post!!

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody is going to get Deep Labyrinth. The game looks intersting and all, but I just don't know anything about it. It seems its mediocre, IGN gave the game a 6.5, I was just asking to see if anybody is going to get it, and if they do post a review or something.

Well, after reading a little more about it, I might get the game. It just seems like an interesting thing, and it comes with two different stories.

I bought it today, actually. haven't played it yet, but most of the people at work really loved it.

I think the reason it's getting such low scores is that it's so non-traditional that playing it is a bit awkward at first.

It's a rental at least, but come on. Support Atlus! Support first-person RPGs!

  12. Alright, so I'm looking to someone who's played that new DS puzzle game Konductra. Is it any good? It seems like a more complex version of Polarium, and I'm curious if it's any good.

I love portable puzzle titles, and now that I've mastered both Tetris and Meteos, I need another fix. Gunpey is coming out later this year (the PSP version will probably be better), but in the meantime, how is Konductra?

I haven't personally played it, but a friend told me it plays alot like internet games like Zuma and Luxor.

I think you're thinking of Magnetica. Konductra just came out today.
