To make things more clear, I think there are three possible votes (correct me if I'm wrong). Type 1: Regular vote, vote by non-participants (everyone not stated below, for example myself or Hoboka) 1st place: 3 points 2nd place: 2 points 3rd place: 1 points Type 2: Argle's vote, as last rounds winner. 1st place: 6 points 2nd place: 4 points 3rd place: 2 points (Regular vote multiplied by 2) Type 3: Vote of a participant (Trism, GrapplingHook, Necrox, DrumJ8 and possible new entrants in the upcoming hours) 1st place: 3 points 2nd place: 2 points 3rd place: 1 points Voter may not vote for himself, but gets two points (which is less than a first place, but more than 3rd or 4th place). I believe Hoboka will announce the final results when voting is over in this thread, so ignore the results showed on ThaSauce. Remember that there are still a couple of hours left, so you can still submit a track and not vote yet.

The People's Remix Competition 257 PRCv10-23 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! We are nearing the end of the year. Last round had again two songs. DrumJ8 was beaten by Trism in PRC255, but this time he claimed victory. The source was send within an hour, which gives everyone a few additional days to remix the next source. Source: Wrecking Crew (NES) - Theme MIDI Youtube Game Wikipedia ThaSauce link: Click here to submit. GOOD LUCK! PRC instructions Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 20 MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed (only as Bonus Mixes). If anyone has problems with uploading songs to ThaSauce let me know (in this thread) and post a download link to your song in this thread (so I can upload it to ThaSauce). Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by MONDAY November 11th 2013 at 11:59 am ThaSauce time: check my signature (below) or the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Note: I need to check this, it might change with an hour. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix. You can also post the song in this thread if that doesn't work. Then I'll make sure it works. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC258. The winner of PRC256, DrumJ8, cannot take part in this round. However, he is free to submit a bonus mix and his vote counts twice. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. It's results time. Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 3 Maximum Score - 9. Evtalo gathered 7 points and gets the last place place wooden spoon. And the winner of PRC256 is DrumJ8 with 8 points. Congratulations DrumJ8. You may select the source for PRC256. Send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). You may select any source from any game, as long as it doesn't have an Overclocked Remix and it hasn't been on PRC before. Welcome to the voting stage The mixing stage is over. This round has 2 songs. How did you first hear of/get involved with OCR?
Bundeslang replied to Diodes's topic in General Discussion
A couple of Mega Man 3 remixes brought me here via Google somewhere in 2002 (if I'm correct). Snakeman Get Down from Disco Dan was the main reason. First I only listened to remixes (mainly Mega Man), but in 2004 I decided to create an account. -

Nice stuff. -
That's true. Writing (Bonus Track) behind the songname will do it. I think HoboKa will mention to not vote for the track as well when the voting stage starts. Also @HoboKa, you might want to edit the title, since the round already has started.

PRC255 - We Have A Winner - Using Spells to get Remixes (Spellbound)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
It's results time. Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 5 Maximum Score - 15. DrumJ8 got my first place vote, but still he ends with 13 points receiving the last place place wooden spoon. And PRC255's winner is Trism with 14 points. Congratulations Trism, you managed to win this round. Both of you did a great job. Trism, you may select the source for PRC256. First-place bonus for voting is not true, but people get 2 points if they vote. Also, the +2 only counts for participants of course. Otherwise you can get the crazy situation that a song only gets 1 point (remixer did not vote) and a non-participant gets 2 points, ending above the remixer. HoboKa, it might be good to store the songs on your computer. In that case you always have a back-up for the case ThaSauce is down or when you accidently delete a round.

This is how it ends (when I'm correct): Argle = 14 (+3 for vote) Trism = 13 (+3 for vote) OneUp = 13 DrumJ8 = 12 MindWanderer = 9 (+3 for vote) HarryUp = 5 (+3 for vote) GrapplingHook = 3 (+3 for vote) I explained to HoboKa how to edit the scores on ThaSauce and edited the score of Argle myself to test it. To be sure, always check the final results in this thread (this also holds for PRC) because it can happen that there are circumstances that not everything is correct on ThaSauce (for example when someone votes per PM instead of at ThaSauce). Vote bonusses are not added on ThaSauce automatically. The fun with this contest is that the voters didn't agree. 9 Voters means a maximum score of 27, Argle scored only 14 but still won this round. 5 of the songs got a first place vote. With this funny remix concept I think this is gonna happen more. About the first place vote bonus I agree with MindWanderer. I fear that when the voting bonus is lower than the actual points of a first place vote, it might be a reason for participants (who want to win) to not vote at all.
-
It would be interesting if the winner picks the same source as the winner of PRC255 for PRC256. Also, the results are not in line with the rules. The rules mentioned that a first place vote is given to participants who voted (instead of 1 point), meaning that Argle would have won the contest instead of OneUp. It might be a good idea to also edit the scores on ThaSauce to avoid confusion. Anyway, nice round everyone.

PRC255 - We Have A Winner - Using Spells to get Remixes (Spellbound)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
ThaSauce seems to be down at the moment (at least I can't access it). If anyone wants to submit a song, post a download link in this thread, or just post that you want to upload a song. In that case I'll extend the deadline with a couple of hours, otherwise voting starts in 15 minutes as planned. -
PRC254 - Results - Crystal Remixes (Castlevania SotN)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
I know you can now edit / delete the vote / results of PRC as well now you are a mod. But remember, if you do that, that I'm also enable to edit some things around MnP. I can delete all the songs, or even worse, enter with a one second song and give myself infinity points to win the rounds. Don't be afraid, I won't do that. -
The last line is not correct, participants don't need to leave the third box empty because this contest has >3 entries and not 3, like the last PRC.

PRC255 - We Have A Winner - Using Spells to get Remixes (Spellbound)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
Good to see RMWtS back up. MnP and RMWtS help to keep PRC up as well. I don't see those contests as competition. I might move the deadline with a few days when this fits better with the other contests, but I want to keep the PRC schedule as close to normal as possible (having 26 rounds per year). -
Votes and reasoning are visible when the voting stage is over. Also (for me it doesn't matter because I didn't enter), but are remixers allowed to vote for himself. Or will they get a voting bonus (like the first place bonus as in PRC)? I also hope that my signature doesn't confuse people with the deadlines (PRC vs MnP).
-
I'll try to vote for this one when its over. If you plan to keep this schedule, I think I'll move the PRC deadlines with 4 days or something, because for this round the deadline of both remixing and voting is on exactly the same day (with one hour difference). It's better for both contests to avoid that in the future. When do you plan to start the next round? Anyway, I'm happy to see that there are already 7 entries. I hope you can keep this up in the future (this was a problem for many contests in the past). The contest design seems to work. Keep up the good work.

PRC255 - We Have A Winner - Using Spells to get Remixes (Spellbound)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
Maybe one more day will help. I'll extend the deadline with one day. Probably the introduction of the new MnP contest (having almost the same deadline) and other reasons didn't help the number of entries this round. Maybe one day helps. -
The People's Remix Competition 255 PRCv10-21 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! We're already nearing the end of the tenth season of PRC. Last round was one with probably the highest voters / remixes ratio ever. 3 Songs and 9 Votes appeared. The voters didn't fully agree on the result. For example, Yami's double vote almost brought HoboKa back in the race, but he ended on the third place. At the end, OneUp claimed victory. Source: Spellbound (C64) - Main Theme MIDI Game Wikipedia ThaSauce link: Click here to submit. You can use this as well. I suggest to use it as a signature and post it in the first post, so people know exactly how long they have left to remix/vote. You can do that by copying [*URL=http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/MnP][*IMG]http://compo.thasauce.net/sigs/compo/MnP and remove the two *

PRC254 - Results - Crystal Remixes (Castlevania SotN)
Bundeslang replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
It's results time. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 9 Maximum Score - 30. Voting stats can be found in this picture. HoboKa was many points behind, but the double first place vote almost brought him back in the competition. Still, he ends with 20 points getting the last place place wooden spoon. Esperado received several first place votes, but ends with 21 points on second place. And the winner of PRC254 is OneUp with 25 points. Congratulations OneUp, you are the winner. I'm very happy that 9 people voted, resulting in a very interesting graph and HoboKa gets the dubious honor to have the last place wooden spoon with the most points. OneUp, you may select a source for PRC255. Send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Friday, 4 Oktober 2013. You can find the votes with comments here: http://compo.thasauce.net/votes/index/PRC254 While waiting for the next round, check out the new MnP compo by HoboKa: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45063 HoboKa voted as follows: Vote 1st: OneUp 2nd: esperado OneUp Pretty groovy to be certain - nice production fo sure. 1 gripe of mine, however, is that the track seems to try too hard to be mainstream and not sound like videogame music. Also, you left out my favourite segment at 1:31 to 1:53 of the source tune I'm so sad. On the plus side, the track is very FUN and is borderlining on OLR territory, which I LOVE doing as you can tell from some of my more troll-ish tracks =p Anyhoo, this is still a pretty solid remix worthy of PRC. This might even be passable for OCR I'd think. Though you'd probably have to add in 1:31 to 1:53 somewhere in there, to get the most out of the source usage. It was a tough vote, but I actually went for the more liberal take this round, which is OneUp's. It's very catchy and full of energy and though the mood has been altered quite a bit...it isn't a jarring change per se, so yeah it's cool. Good work & good effort OneUp esperado Took a very similar approach to me which is pretty cool. The chip tunes were a pretty cool addition. -
