  1. I remember some of those awesome songs. Didn't check the site frequently over the last year, so currently I'm downloading the torrent to fix that. Keep the good stuff coming.
  2. Sounds like a coal idea which can lead to pretty good songs, but there are some issues. Like Gario mentioned, the concept might make it difficult for some mixers (especially starting mixers) to enter. They are restricted to a 'feeling' of the song, and they should at the same time keep the ratio of source : original in mind, there is not much freedom in that. I wouldn't stick to a ratio directly. It might be a better idea to start with something between 60-90% source and later make a more specific ratio, depending on the outcome. I suggest to just try it out. Select a suitable source and make sure all rules are clear, also for voters. The Competition Code of Conduct written by DarkeSword are important to keep in mind with that. Based on the entries and comments you get it is always possible to make some adaptations to improve the contest. Find a good moment to do the first round; WCRG will end in a week, other contests like RMWtS probably start running after that; try to find a good moment to start the contest (when people are not busy doing songs for other competitions).
  3. The People's Remix Competition 254 PRCv10-20 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Four remixers entered last round. Yami claimed victory. DZComposer was close, but lost by only one point difference. Both hoboka and evktalo claimed the remaining points and divided them fairly. Source: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1) - Crystal Teardrops MIDI Game Wikipedia ThaSauce link: Click here to submit. GOOD LUCK! PRC instructions Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 20 MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed (only as Bonus Mixes). If anyone has problems with uploading songs to ThaSauce let me know (in this thread) and post a download link to your song in this thread (so I can upload it to ThaSauce). Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by MONDAY September 30th 2013 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time: check my signature (below) or the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix. You can also post the song in this thread if that doesn't work. Then I'll make sure it works. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC255. The winner of PRC253, Yami, cannot take part in this round. However, he is free to submit a bonus mix and his vote counts twice. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. Congratulations Yami, you are the winner. There was a 'gap' between second and third place, but you won the challenge. Yami, you may select a source for PRC253. You can find the votes with comments here: http://compo.thasauce.net/votes/index/PRC253 hoboka voted as follows: 1)DZComposer 2)Yami 3)evktalo I think DZComposer is #1 because of the awesomely creative use of percussive instruments, whilst keeping to the creepy feel of the source tune.
  5. It is up now. But if anyone has problems with voting and the deadline is approaching, send a PM with your votes.

  7. For a bonus mix, you can always take a couple of days extra. I don't mind if that's finished later. The only thing is that you can't upload it yourself on ThaSauce, but I can fix that for you.
  8. The People's Remix Competition 253 PRCv10-19 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last round was a pretty interesting one, 5 songs were submitted. Xsquader claimed victory with a gap of 6 points, the battle for 2nd place was hard, resulting in DrumJ8 and hoboka tying for second place. This round has one source and is the first regular PRC (with a regular selecting procedure) since PRC248. 9. It's results time. Total number of mixes - 5 Total number of votes - 8 Maximum Score - 27. Voting stats can be found in this picture. Freaky collected four points and gets the last place wooden spoon. OneUp received 11 points (including some first place votes), but ends at the fourth place. After an exciting struggle for second place, DrumJ8 and hoboka tied for that, with 15 points. And the winner of PRC252 is Xsquader with 21 points. Congratulations Xsquader, you are the well-deserved winner. You may select a source for PRC253. Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Saturday, 7 September 2013. You can find the votes with comments here: http://compo.thasauce.net/votes/index/PRC252 hoboka voted as follows: Here's my vote: 1)DrumJ8 2)Xsquader 3)OneUp DrumJ8: 1st place for me, because his idea was, imo, the most interesting and well executed. His idea of integrating the solo snare pattern with both the Yehat and Fanfare source tunes was freaking cool too. Production sounds somewhat low-fi, but it sounded like true synth pop from the 80's, which felt more genuine than Xsquader's take (to me). The other contestants had cool ideas too, but I think that DrumJ8 is king of the hill, this time around.
  10. Note that when the results will be announced thursday the scores are modified because I'll add hoboka's vote manually. I'll post the vote of hoboka (and his comments) together with the results. Interesting voting so far. No one is gonna win by default. Voting is now also extended on ThaSauce (I forgot to edit that earlier). There are two days left.

The winner gets the right to choose the source tune for PRC253. Check the ThaSauce Page to vote.
  12. I've uploaded your song. Two songs so far. I'm excited to see more songs coming up.
  13. It started as a topic to question the future of Vgmix. But currently the site is up again (although it is still not functioning completely). Several people used this thread as well to give / ask old Vgmix songs since these won't be put back online at the new Vgmix.
  14. Can you make a list of the songs you have. I think you're right about the spreadsheet, although I'm not sure (some of the unmarked songs are part from my archives or are OC Remixes here). It can easily be done with Winamp for example if you have that.
  15. That's right, the Fanfare is your lucky source, because it is not very long.
  16. The People's Remix Competition 252 PRCv10-18 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC251 is only finished a couple of hours ago. Evktalo claimed victory, but DrumJ8 and Sggod89 weren't far off. Like last round, the upcoming round has two sources. The first source is selected by PRC250's winner, darkbrandflake11. Last rounds winner Evktalo also picked a source. After this round, everything returns to normal with one source per round (except when this round has a double winner). To participate, you only have to remix one of these songs, but remixing both in one song is encouraged. Darkbrandflake11 and Evktalo can also take part, they should remix the song selected by the other person (darkbrandflake11 remixes Evktalo's source and Evktalo remixes darkbrandflake11's source). They also can remix their own source as a bonus track (or both sources in one track, as a track which will be considered as a normal entry). Source 1: Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES) - Fanfare MIDI Youtube Wiki Source 2: Star Control 2 (PC) - Yehat MIDI Wiki ThaSauce link: Click here to submit. GOOD LUCK! 17. It's results time. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 5 Maximum Score - 15. Voting stats can be found in this picture. After a good start, DrumJ8 didn't win it. DrumJ8 deserved better, but claims another the last place wooden spoon with 11 points. Sggod89 got 12 points and ends at the second place. And the winner of PRC251 is Evktalo with 13 points. Congratulations Evktalo, it was a close call, but you are the winner. You may select a source for PRC252. 19. Nice. From the four mirrors for the ZIP files (MP3 + ART only), only the last works.
  20. For anyone interested in some VG remixes done in the past, I uploaded a second archive with 109 old Video Game Remixes from over 5 years ago. The following songs are in that archive: https://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/OC%2BVG%20Second%20Batch.xlsx?attredirects=0&d=1 EDIT: Dropbox disabled the files for some reason (probably they are to big), so if anyone wants the archives or some songs of those, they can contact me via PM.
