  1. Hi, I reinstalled the program and everything works now, but I'm having problems when I try to use more than one NN-XT track. I can only get sound from the first NN-XT track even when the 2nd NN-XT track is selected. I ultimately plan on using at least 10 of these for all the instruments/parts of instruments in the samples. Is there any way to get sound from the other tracks besides the top NN-XT track? Thanks in advance.
  2. Yeah, but I know I still have to add some more. I'm going to put in a counter melody at 1:19; one's that's similar to the melody at 2:02 in terms of style (simple and catchy, with a quick shot of randomness i.e. 2:09 ). The next version will definantly be much better than this, even if this song is already pretty good. I'm trying to get the song passed.
  3. Thread bump for a big update. New version that's much better then what I first submitted. Plz comment! This one's much better -- promise!
  4. Then the next question would be, how big's your friggin HD? That one folder would take up almost half my space alone. I wish I had a powerhouse computer like yours..
  5. Thanks for the tips. I just uploaded a new version (link in the top post). I tried some panning to give it that atomosphere/ambiance effect, and I added in from drum fills to make the first transition smoother. I also changed some of the samples cause I thought it would help. This song still needs smoother transitions, I know, but about what you said: "Really work on getting the melody and rythms in sync feeding off of eachother". Kinda difficult for this song, as the melody is half notes and whole notes, leading to a potentially boring drum loop. I haven't changed anything in the percussion besides volume (and speaking of which, sorry if the 2nd-to-last part is still too loud; I'm trying to make is listenable but still have that impact I want). What do you think of this version?
  6. Well to explain the "fluff", that's what happens when you try to combine interpretation of the theme with original stuff too (trying to make a song YOURS and all that stuff). Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix the issues you pointed, as I'm a bit clueless (I don't even know what a sonic texture is!) Volume's an easy fix, but I need a little clarification on the other issues. Thanks for posting.
  7. Funny thing is, I never even noticed anything SnappleMan went over. It would stink though if this song was rejected for stuff like that. Sure it could use a little reworking, but I bet it'd get at least one YES (though the vibe solo does get boring after awhile). Best of luck!
  8. This is an excellent mix! It should definitely make it to the panel. However, I'm sure it'll get passed. I'd use different synths to make it seem less like a chiptune.
  9. Yes, I made another FF7 remix, this one being an upbeat techno remix of "ShinRa Company". The only thing this song is missing right now is the ending, which I will add soon. Please tell me what you think, and what I should do so that this makes it to the site. "Destruction of AVALANCHE"
  10. In-Progress "Makou Jingle" from Final Fantasy 7's Makou Reactor theme. "Destruction of AVALANCHE" from Final Fantasy 7's ShinRa Company theme Submitted none yet Passed none yet
  11. Alright! I just uploaded the next version. I personally think this is a very big improvement from the last release, but I still feel like it's missing some things, like expressiveness. I'm hoping I can just configure that and not have to buy a new VST. Anyway, here it is. Please tell me what you think! Version 3 EDIT: Alright, I just uploaded a revised version. I rearranged parts so that it would have a nice form with a climax. I think I'm about ready to submit this though, unless there are some more tweaks I'm missing. About that, I've been convinced that Edirol was the only Orchestral VST that would run on my computer, but I recently found another Orchestral VST that's I know's been used on this site before. However, I'd either be lying or dillusional if I said I would have it by the time I submitted (which I'm hoping is soon). Do you think the samples here would really hold me back? I really think the ones I changed already (trombones and flute samples) sound really good now.
  12. Automation clips? I don't even know what those are. XD Guess I'll try that. Thanks.
  13. I don't know if it's called that, but the section in the Piano Roll where you control the channel volume is what I'm refering to. Is there a way you can copy the data in that part and paste it on other channels? It seems like a hassle to make the same dynamics for a whole song for 16 tracks.
  14. This is pretty good, but some people might complain of it being slightly repetitive, especially in the drums. I haven't been ReMixing very much, so I'm sorry I can't give much more critique.
  15. Hmm, I was starting to not expect anyone to post so I went ahead and added percussion and re-uploaded it. Version 2. I think it sounds a little better with percussion added, but from what you're saying, this sond still has a ways to go. I purposefully made the piano solos only use pentatonic keys because it fit so well with the chorus (and a pentatonic scale tends to be very uplifting). When you say the instruments sound like MIDI, do you mean sample-wise or notation-wise? I can change the notes, but I kinda invested in Edirol to be the orchestral software I use. And live instrumentalists are completely out of the question... I don't have nearly enough money for that... =( Thanks for your input though. I'll see what I can do.
  16. Wow... it sounds like you've been working on this for awhile... Keep up the good work!
  17. Hey this is pretty good! I like the beat, and the samples are great! It sounds like they're all VSTs, but are some of them soundfonts?
  18. I'm still working on a title for it. Basically it's the Mako Reactot theme from FF7 with a completely different feel. I was thinking about in the game itself when Mako was first introduced/advertized to the Corel people and everyone and how they loved it at first -- obviously before the consequences appeared. As far as the song itself goes, it's missing an ending and it's doesn't have percussion (exluding the few notes at the beginning). The piece starts about with a light-hearted piano solo, followed by an uplifting orchestral introduction into the main chorus. I'm planning an making the melody louder at the first main chorus so that you can hear it better. If you can't hear it at all it's played louder at 4:00. So, please give critism and feedback, and maybe some suggestions on percussion styles. Oh, and here's the link : My song so far...
  19. I just decided to try upgrading from FL to this program. I'm having an issue though: whenever I start the program and add samples and such, about 10 minutes into using the program, all sound stops working. I don't know if this has to do with the MIDI keyboard or if the MIDI settings change by themselves, but this requires me to have to stop and restart the program ever 10 or so minutes. Not fun. Is there a way to fix this?
  20. Hi. I'm looking for a suspended cymbal roll sample. Anyone know where I can find one?
  21. Hi, I spent the last few days looking for a good choir/vocal effect, but so far the only one I've heard of was EWQL Symphonic Choir. That's okay and all, except that that program alone is bigger than my entire hard drive AND I need something a little cheaper. Is there anything like Symphonic Choir but slightly below it in terms of disk space and price? Thanks.
  22. Does anyone know of a site for ethnic wind instruments ( I'm actually looking for a shanai, but something that sounds like it will do). EDIT: I'm also looking for ethnic drums.
  23. Right now, I go to pattern 1 and set it a "Soundfont A", then I go to pattern 2 and set that as "Soundfont B". Then when I go back to Pattern 1, it's set as "Soundfont B" even though I just set it for "Soundfont A"! Is there a way to use multiple sound fonts on multiple patterns?
  24. I must say, for someone who's been into this for 2+ years, I don't have much. Software Noteworthy Composer - for writing MIDI. Cakewalk Home Studio - for enhancing and maybe even remexing. FLStudio 5 - Where all the action is. I could upgrade, but all the "new" features didn't interest me. Heck. If it's free I might still get it anyway. Samples/VSTs/Resources Squidfonts is really good. I've been using mostly free samples. All the packages that cost money are like 15 GB big - My hard drive's only 30 GB! They're crazy I tell ya. And that's pretty much it. ... there's warez samples?! (Man there's warez everything)
  25. I'm looking for an industrial drum set (with "trash can" drums and the like). I don't know if anyone would be able to find that, but if you already have something like it, an industrial drumset would be appreciated.
