Lemonectric Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Ok...so let's say I want to link to a youtube video using text. I should be able to do something like this: Click here[/url*] But when I use the URL for a youtube video, it just embeds the video. And even when I try to show an example by placing an asterisk inside the tag, all the post shows is [url= There has to be a way to simply link to the video page, rather than embed it, right? How would one go about doing this? Quote
Katsurugi Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Something may have changed. Previously, if you typed in the URL, it would automatically change it to a link using the text as the URL itself. I did this in the OCR Fit thread. However, if I did the same thing again, it would embed the video file. I don't exactly know what changed or not. But I don't see any way of getting around it. I don't exactly know why youtube videos are treated special compared to other links. Quote
Moseph Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I don't exactly know why youtube videos are treated special compared to other links. This was a forum feature that djp specifically added. I don't know if there's a way around it. Quote
friendlyHunter Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 So does this mean he can "specifically un-add" it?? =D Quote
kitty Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I tried tinkering around with the url and it seems the forum looks for the line youtube .com/watch?v= or something of the sort so it can embed it. EDIT: So I typed that without the space and it made a blank embed window. Quote
