The Vagrance Posted June 25, 2008 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Link: http://media.putfile.com/Mass-Effect-take-1 Obviously in rough form as the intro needs quite a bit of work but the entire idea behind this mix will be a transition from "Intro" (Main Theme), to "battles" (BA-ness), to "Love" (Love Theme), to "Final Battle" (Final Assault), to "Outro" (Either "The End" or "Victory"). So yeah, musical journey, real original . EDIT: Yeah, so far the mix has not reached the "Final Battle" stage, just the first two. Anyway, any opinions on this? P.S. - Just as a suggestion, when hearing the Love Theme section of this I can't help but think that it may make a good piece to do a Nine Inch Nails styled remix. just a thought. FireSlash Posted June 25, 2008 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Vocal intros are fine, but this one's is way too long considering the length... it's a third of the song. Effects 1/3 in need some work, they sound dry and stand out from the mix. There are some volume issues (Piano and strings stomp all over some of the more subtle effects). Transitions feel forced, but it feels like it builds back to the same melody. The ending is also unexpected, with no conclusion or fadeout... it just ends. That being said, it's not a bad start. Martin Penwald Posted June 27, 2008 Share Posted June 27, 2008 The voice samples at the beginning seem somewhat unnecessary to me; a purely instrumental intro would work better IMO, reason being that a.) the text isn't particulary interesting and b.) everyone who made a female Commander Shepard won't like all the "he"s in the text The transition at 0:56 onwards feels very forced; the intro theme playing on in the background doesn't match with the music in the foreground at all. Almost to the point where it is annoying. 1:26 onwards - Now we're talking. Awesome part, everything works together well. 2:29 - The low end is a little too "fat" here, IMO.
