Sept. 28

Anyone going to get it too? I know I sure am. :) Tracklist is as follows:

  1. Intro / Also Sprach Zarathustra
  2. Constant Motion
  3. Panic Attack
  4. Blind Faith
  5. Surrounded
  6. The Dark Eternal Night
  7. Keyboard Solo
  8. Lines In The Sand
  9. Scarred
  10. Forsaken
  11. The Ministry Of Lost Souls
  12. Take The Time
  13. In The Presence Of Enemies
  14. Schmedley Wilcox: Trial Of Tears, Finally Free, Learning To Live, In The Name Of God, Octavarium

And usual backstage, interview yadda yadda on disc 2. What are your thoughts on the tracklist? Scarred is the only Dream Theater song I can't get into. Panic Attack is also the most repetetive thing ever >_<

Hmm...the only ones from SFAM I would DIE to have are The Dance Of Eternity, Home, and Fatal Tragedy. The real album that deserves a hardcore amount of attention is Images and Words. EASILY their best album, nay, the best album ever. Every song is perfect in every way. Surrounded is also their best song and it's...wait for it...on this DVD! I'm giddy with excitement :). No, SFAM is good though. Songs like previously mentioned TDoE, Home, Finally Free, Through My Words, One Last Time, and most especially Fatal Tragedy are awesome.

You know, there is a special edition of the DVD package where you get like 5 discs and some very fascinating stuff on them. I totally want that, I just haven't pre-ordered it yet.

i'm with fishy; scenes was the best - but it is best in its context with the whole album - i sure wish they would get back to writing stuff like that instead of going nuts on the prog/metal stuff. but its still a solid set.

they should have a dvd where they play every dt song ever in medley style. no one would be upset and i would buy that the day it came out.

and looks like rudess is getting some keytar action happening on this - poor guy - still trying to out do petrucci on the rockstar solos

i also wonder how long the strauss goes on for

do you guys think they are overdoing with all the live album stuff lately? its great and all, but i would rather hear more diverse and quality albums than another live thing after ever LP - or even more side projects from all the members.

its just dream theater world has been kinda stagnant for me ever since after 6 degrees. i have enjoyed OSI, Transatlantic, and Neil Morse a lot more than the past albums.

Not entirely stagnant. Look at Train of Thought. Easily their second best. VERY good album. The only newer CD that actually retains the magic of the originals. Also the song Octavarium is exceptional. The album - not so much.

yeah - there are definitely good parts to all of them - some of the production and soloing are some of the cleanest and best. its just the music doesn't excite or grab me like it once did. I used to always expect for this musical growth with these guys. its not so much anymore like that.

but yeah train of thought has some jams for sure as well as octavarium which is a ridiculous track in itself. but yeah, the bar is kinda high for me after albums like scenes and 6 degrees.

Well, its kinda hard for them to grow considering how good they are; know what I mean? I personally found 6 degrees the worst one :P though Misunderstood and Disappear were awesome songs.

Speaking of Train of Thought solos...

0:29 will make you crap your pants.
