  1. If you asked me have I sat down, of my own volition, and just re-arranged or wrote some music because I wanted to, I wouldn't have been able to say yes for pretty much that whole period 2012-2017. Since I left Uni I had been trying to get my career of the ground and it hasn't really settled until very recently (I'm all good now). I've done the odd project that sounds fun when I've been asked, but even then it's usually been as a favour covering some last minute un-claimed track and I've never really been happy with the results. However, finally feeling settled at work and home has really freed me up in 2018. Like it really is just the weight off your life's shoulders that can be holding you back sometimes, I dunno. The constant feeling that you should be working towards something better for your life instead of enjoying your spare time gets you the fuck down sometimes. With that gone I've found myself really knuckling down on my hobbies again, so I've actually been playing games and making music. tl;dr Only recently but yes, look forward to a concept album coming probably 2019, it's dark and depressing and heavy as shit.
  2. Yo, for those of you who don't know I work for Focusrite/Novation on their apps team (aka Ampify). We just released our latest app GROOVEBOX which is a cracking little uh... groove box... with some great synths and drum sounds. It's free to download and try, with some paid advanced features, but you can still make and export some decent stuff without paying a penny (directly to an Ableton Live session if you want!). Here's a sweet vid: And here's the link: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/groovebox-beats-synths-music-studio/id1242847278?mt=8 And these are our other two apps Launchpad and Blocs Wave (also free to download): https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/novation-launchpad/id584362474?mt=8 https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/blocs-wave-make-record-music/id1085697317?mt=8 At this rate it won't be long before I'm submitting ReMixes made only on my iPhone/iPad. 3. I'm currently freeloading in a spare room between moving out of my old flat and into my new one. Behold the behemoth that is my temporary setup:
  4. Got mine coming on Friday, after I remembered I have a £100 Amazon voucher lying around. I think this is the first time I've got a console on day one, quite excited about it.
  5. Just wanted to share this here for anyone who makes or wants to learn to make games. There's a humble bundle with the full pro version of Game Maker, which was used to make some great 2D games like Hyper Light Drifter, Undertale and Nidhogg (http://www.yoyogames.com/showcase). https://www.humblebundle.com/gamemaker-bundle For $15 dollars you get: Game Maker Pro Export for web versions Export for iOS/Android More than a few games made with the engine 10+ games worth of full source code/assets to learn from I know a lot of engines are free now but the fact you get all that example source code/assets for real published games (as well as the final products) is a crazy useful resource. Plus charity!
  6. Haha, so just for reference I use game jams as an opportunity to test my intermediate coding skills, while stretching the limits of taste with my buddy Doug (the voice of Necron in that FFIX mix). They're very very silly games, but we hope you get a laugh out of them. Here's my 2015 entry, it's a 30 minute long Lucas-Arts style point-and-click where you have to blow up the world: http://globalgamejam.org/2015/games/azathars-revenge

I watch so much LoL LCS, the production quality is higher than most prime-time football coverage over here.
  8. If you have any iOS device, check out Launchpad for iOS for freeeeeee.
  9. Sweet, new time passer for the train. If only there was a sweet-ass FFIX remix album for us to listen to *cough*...
  10. This was excluded for being an FFI theme being re-used actually. They have Rufus's theme from FFVII in there too.
  11. I actually have a print copy of 'The Sky', which is pretty much all of Yoshitaka Amano's Final Fantasy I through X concept art. I'm sure that picture will be in there somewhere, I'll check when I get home :3. It's not that expensive, highly recommended.
  12. If only! Would love to have one closer to home.
  13. Welcome to the club. I want to do a listening party but the prime OCR audience is mostly US, and it's almost four and a half hours long which means if I want it to be at useful time for them I will be awake until like 4am. I'll see if I can make it happen though.
  14. Getting pretty excited for this now, my body is ready. Is yours?
  15. I don't want that on my conscience, I'd better rethink the whole thing.
  16. We're doing a combo release with Duke Nukem Forever 2.
  17. I promised my leet FF7 OST knowledge, so here it is: Green for definite Orange for uncertain Red for no idea (might be wrong, sorry if so Ryan) 0:00 to 0:35 mostly soundscaping far as I can tell 00:35 - 1:17 very loosely based on the first 4 notes of cid's theme 1:17-1:57 no idea 1:57-2:15 melody is start of cid's theme 2:15-2:32 is sort of sending a dream (0:22-0:42) in the way the melody rises, only picked up on by extrapolating the next melody backkwards 2:32-2:48 is sending a dream extrapolated (0:42-1:00) 2:48-3:26 is very loosely little bronco takes flight 3:26-3:39 hot damn it's cid's theme 3:39-4:12 no idea 4:12-4:42 mucking about very loosely with cid melody (1:08) 4:42-5:03 no idea 5:03-5:30 cid's theme melody, pretty clear (1:03ish) 5:30-5:55 very loosely based on the first 4 notes of cid's theme 5:55-6:19 I think is actually a cheeky reference to the intro of lifestream, the notes match up (0:22 on), if so this is very clever, it's even thematically correct as it's the first tease of the idea of going into space I make that: 3:00 of identifiable 1:11 of sort of but hard to tell 2:09 of not sure at all
  18. FF7 - Birth of a God First guitar riff I ever recorded.
