*NO* Mega Man 7 'Introduction to Heaven'

ok, I submitted this more than months ago, and I have the E-mail confirmation to prove it. I talked with analoq, Beatdrop and Vigilante and told them to post it as a fell through more than 3 weeks ago, since that's the only way I've got a mix judged, and after waiting some time analoq told me that they can't post it because I've gotten more than 2 mixes posted as a fell through. I mean, its not my fault that I had to wait 5 months for the first one and 3 months for the other one without having any respones, and I had to contact you or the judges to post it. Everytime I send an e-mail submission I feel like I'm throwing it into a bottomless pit, because I never get it judged that way. Anyways, I hope that this one gets there because I dunno what else I can do to get a mix judged.

Again, this is megaman 7 for snes, Intro Stage.

again, here's the url.

The problem with this song is it doesn't go beyond using the most simplistic rendition of the original melody over a simplistic 4x4 beat. A great deal of repeating where there should be at least on of the following: progression, variation, percussionistic changes.

One must go beyond the simple lead and octave bass and promote and reexpress the music.

Holding to a genre ideal doesn't justify the excessive repetition and simplicity here.

Other problems include the generally messy and poorly planned notation in places like 3:10.

Work on the melodic and percussionistic qualities of the song.

This has a good sound to it, no doubt about that. Unfortunately, it's the repetition that lets this down. The first half was good, but the second half didn't build on it or change in any way, it just seemed as if most of the riffs were just copied over in a different order. There was also parts where I felt that there could have been a huge buildup, or an alternate synth playing at the same time, or just something different!

Listening to the opening of this I'm thinking "Man, now this is a neat little

dance track. That's an agressive sounding bass line with lots of fun

little toys going on all in the background" then I look over at my playlist

and see it telling me that I've got a full six and half minutes to enjoy

what this person has come up with using all these nice high quality sounds.

Then I start hearing some encoding issues creepying in... a few places

where 112kbps really hurts. But that's ok cause there's some other

neat stuff going on in the lead.

Ok, a little break here at 3:30, that's kinda neat... but this part feels a

little unpolished or something... something about that synth doesn't seem

to stand on it's own. I think it's the filtering over it.. once the other parts

come in it helps a little, but I still don't feel like it stands on it's own...

especially the fast cut off at the end of the statement. Feels chopped...

really sounds like it wants to hold on to that note for like an 1/8th longer.

Now that we're into the last few minutes it's getting a little repetitious,

but I'm still enjoying the sound for the most part. That sawy lead is getting

a little boring though.... kinda would like to hear more variation in that..

I'm really not so downtrodden like the rest of the judges board with the

repetitious nature of the track. My main issues are that the end seems to

just cut off, and this could really be encoded a bit larger and sound a good

bit better in a few places.

I'll vote NO on this one not because I don't like it, but

because I'd rather hear a resubmitted version with a smoother fade out

on the very end and maybe encoded at an ABR so that it comes out to

exactly 6 megs (take 6 megs, in bytes, devide it by the length in seconds

and set that as the Absolute bitrate in your encoder). I think that would

produce better results.

Overall though neat little dance track.. tighten down a few of those nuts

here and there and you've got my big thumbs up.
