Where to find more BGM

Recommended Posts

First off let me just say that I love what you people are doing! The quality on these remixes are incredible, my favs are Mega Man :)

My question is where can I find some more basic game music, it's been so long since I have heard some of these songs and the midi rips and emulators are always just a bit off. So is there a place that has this? I have been able to find a couple games here, am I just not looking in the right places?

Thanks for any help,

"Galbadia Hotel" has a huge number of soundtracks, popular and rare stuff, but they're always down and some of their links don't work. Just Google Galbadia Hotel.

"Blue Laguna" doesn't have as much stuff, but they have a great collection of more modern RPG music and I've never had any problem with them. [Link removed by moderator - no links to illegal content]

More and more, people are using Youtube to upload and collect BGM into playlists. This is a great alternative to collecting MP3s which takes up memory and may be virused.

And of course, some fan sites post whole collections of music like Secret of Mana and Mega Man. I don't know of any specifics off the top of my head, mostly because they usually get shut down quickly, but they do exist.

That's the name of that place. Akumu. I knew there was somewhere else that had NSF files, but I couldn't find it. Thanks for linking to it Sam Ascher-Weiss.

Edit: Some more sites...

http://gsf.caitsith2.net/ = GBA music

http://snesmusic.org/hoot/gbs/ = GB/GBC music

http://snesmusic.org/hoot/v2/update.php = personal computer music (X68000 sharp, IBM, etc.)

Additionnal note: http://project2612.org/ contains a different file format than zophar. That file format is of better quality than the latter site's too and has no problems with some games (Ecco the Dolphin is a good example, go see/listen to the game songs from both sites).

Edit: for Sega Master System and Game Gear there's SMS Power. It's a small library but one nevertheless.
