Anti-Syne
Still early days for this mix. It's the main theme of Metal Gear Solid 1 in the style of Kraftwerk. Apologies that it doesnt have an ending yet. I would greatly appreciate any critique so far. source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqqq8uqSDnk Inspiration:
Anti-Syne
Right ignore that last one, updated version. Let me know what you don't like about it/what needs to be changed.
Vidilian
After listening to the Kraftwerk song, I'd say you definitely got their style down. I've never heard anything like it so I'm probably not the best person to critique. But I will say that I found it interesting and unique all the way through so good job with that. The codec sound effect was a nice touch at the end

Still looking for more feedback, so anyone else out there let me know what you think, even if you aren't Metal gear or Kraftwerk Fans. again source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqqq8uqSDnk Inspiration:
Emunator
I'm not as big of a fan of this mix as the previous poster, and from an objective standpoint (which is what I try to take when I do mod reviews) I have to come down even harder on this mix. I don't think it's close to being able to pass the panel, unfortunately Some issues that stand out most to me - the vocal clips come across as pretty gimmicky, especially since they're repeated so often throughout the song. The codec noises toward the end were a much nicer touch. The synth choice and the arrangement in general is probably the biggest problem bogging this mix down though. I don't mean to be harsh, but it's a textbook example of generic techno and that kind of stuff doesn't generally tend to fly on the OCR panel. There's a few moments where you get some sonic embellishments or glitch effects that really stand out above the rest of the mix, but they're few and far between and the building blocks of your track aren't interesting or unique enough to give this song much of an edge. My recommendation - chalk this up to a learning experience and keep expanding your abilities in future mixes, taking time to search for more unique sounds, using more processing and effects, and coming up with less repetitive arrangement ideas. I think it would take too much effort to get this up to the OCR bar that you could better apply to making new mixes. I know I've come across pretty harsh on this mix - it's not that it's necessarily bad, and given the source it's actually a pretty good adaptation, it's just that sonically, your mix is very plain and there's not much to set it apart from all the other techno/dance mixes that go past the panel, aside from the vocal effects which grew stale fast, as well. Hope you're able to see where I'm coming from and why this probably isn't suited for the OCR panel - lemme know if you need anything expanded or clarified! I do agree with Emu on his crits, but I do feel it's worth balancing that with the style the OP is trying to emulate. From my limited knowledge, Kraftwerk was a pioneer in early electronic music and was well known for their straightforward, minimalistic style - especially the synth voice type clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T65NpyfPkQ - love this song So that said, this type of genre is really difficult to pull off right and still meet the production bar for submission. It definitely can be done, but I don't think this one will cut it. Keep working at it, though.
Emunator
Yeah, I do agree that you did a good job with emulating the style of Kraftwerk, and I meant to give you props for doing that well But I agree with Nutritious that it might be hard to get a song past the panel in this style unless the production and arrangement ideas are really stellar. Anti-Syne
Thanks for the feedback guys, very much appreciated. Think i'll take this back to a work in progress and see if i can anything fresh to it. I agree it's just a bit too generic at the moment, Thanks again!
