Xenon Odyssey Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 So what exactly is "New Music?" Does it stand for something, or does it mean 'music that is new?' Quote
Josh Whelchel Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 So what exactly is "New Music?" Does it stand for something, or does it mean 'music that is new?' "New Music" refers specifically to newer classical music, sometimes referred to as art music. Example: Quote
Brandon Strader Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Would you accept a song ? Or a bad? Orchestra-backed acoustic pop? Metal? Rap? Surely there's some restriction on the genre, or the language content, such as profanity. I'm just asking, I wasn't planning on using profanity or making rap. It's something people should know before starting if there's some kind of limitation on F-bomb racist gangster rap and such. Quote

I'm not sure if it's entirely clear, so I'll clear it up here - I'm not looking for submissions of original material until AFTER you've been accepted on the project. This should dodge the issues you've mentioned. But for the record, it's a PG album, and we're not interested in hardcore-rap, but pop/rap/r&b is certainly open to be included. Quote

What the hell was I saying? I don't even know. Ballad maybe? I gotta start paying more attention to what I'm typing. until AFTER you've been accepted And to be accepted, one would just need the demo, the bio, and the photo? Are you thinking I won't be accepted? I could try to photoshop the photo heavily to get it up to your standards of quality (and to remove the hideousness as much as possible), and a decent bio could be written. I don't want to wait until September / February. Quote
Josh Whelchel Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 There is a new application page here: http://www.jwmusic.org/sfc11-apply/ Quote
Xenon Odyssey Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 "New Music" refers specifically to newer classical music, sometimes referred to as art music. So from the example you posted, you looking for stuff that's more avant-garde, like Steve Reich and John Cage, right? Or would you accept something more traditional like a string quartet? Quote
Brandon Strader Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 They would accept somethin' like ?! That's new music rite Quote
Josh Whelchel Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 So from the example you posted, you looking for stuff that's more avant-garde, like Steve Reich and John Cage, right? Xenon Odyssey Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Then you can expect an application from me! Quote
halc Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 i've submitted my application. I'd love to do a remix for this Quote
Josh Whelchel Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 I'm still looking for REMIXERS for this album, please apply within! Quote
Brandon Strader Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 You need to make a list of who's in or else we're going to ask if we're in. Am I in? xD Quote
Xenon Odyssey Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Since the extension of the deadline has passed, what's a good timeframe before we hear back? Quote
Cyril the Wolf Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 And I stupidly missed the extended deadline. Genius, I be. Oh well, I expect great things from those who are making this a reality, and I am totally buying all three albums. Quote
Palpable Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Wow, I never saw this thread, unfortunately. Is it too late to do a sign up, Josh? If you do more artists for the mainstream category, Flickerfall would love to volunteer. Quote
